A must win game for us on Wednesday vs Aalborg. We have to start with Crosas who would partner Brown for me in the middle. McGeady out on the right and Robson the left. Maloney and Samaras up front.

Don’t know too much about our opponensts but they lost 2-0 at home on Saturday and are only two points ahead of the team QOS played - FC Nordsjælland having played a game more.

They did pump Kaunus though

Why must we start with Crosas?

He played a great 45 minutes and then done f**k all before being substituted. I think he will be good for us but I would not start him in this game.

Same team as Sat except McGeady in for Crosas ( putting Brown and Robson in the middle) and Loovens in for McManus.

But the latter won't happen.
LordHawHaw
I watched the Man City V FC Midtjylland games, and sat watching us getting swamped by Copenhagan....we need to be up for this game, if we don't play to our best ten we won't win IMO

Edit to add having said the above I'm going for 3-1 biggrin.gif

The general opinion is to drop McManus , who's form at the moment is very poor , but i don't think it's a good idea dropping your captain for such a huge game.
I am hoping he could regain his form sooner rather than later. Dropping him now could completely shatter him for rest of the season. I know i'm going against the general census of opinion as i can see he could be a liability on wed night but it's not Man.Utd we're playing. I would take a chance on him.
Samaras & Maloney up front

Can't see stubborn Chesney playing Aiden down the right, although I wish he would.

Oddly Maloney actually played his best stuff for us while stuck out on the left wing, flattering to deceive as a striker.

The central midfield and defence issues refuse to go away with the personnel we find ourselves lumbered with. Maybe Crosas and Loovens should come in as surely they can be no worse than whoever they replace.

That’s entirely my reasoning for wanting them to come in.

Looking at AAB's team I recognise Kasper Bogelund, a defender ex-PSV and the striker Nomvethe, a South African with a Kenny Miller-esque goalscoring record. The rest are anonymous Danish League journeymen.

Anything besides a handsome victory would be a humiliating disaster imo.
H_B
Must win for Celtic if they are going to have a chance to complete a phenomenal hat trick of last 16 qualifications.

Have to think they will get the three points as well. 1-0 I reckon.
Stockholm Syndrome
Really looking forward to this game on Wednesday night. It sure is vital that we get the 3 points, when you look at the next 3 games after this one! To be honest Aalborg are a team you really would expect us to beat but you just never know.

My ideal like up would be this:

Boruc
Naylor
McManus
Loovens
Wilson
Brown
Robson
McGeady
Nakamura
McDonald
Samaras

Out of interest, anyone know how many Aalborg fans will be making the trip? If they're anything like Danish counterparts Copenhagen, they should be class!

They are a small team compared to Copenhagen. I'd expect around 500 to turn up but you never know. You are right in saying tht Copenhagen fans were superb.

I've always thought that Maloney was one of the those players who doesn't seem to have a best position - does he have enough pace to play on the wing, is he strong enough to play up front at the top level?

Celtic should win this, I predict a 2-1 win with the Danes getting a late consolation.

It would be great to see the Celtic bigots get their Euro campaign off to a losing start.

I hope the dirty green scumbags get pumped.

Celtic have stuttered this season but thumped Well on saturday so that might give them confidence after getting a doing off rangers

however with Caldwell and McManus there is always a chance of conceeding a goal

im going for 1-1 biggrin.gif

The discussion around who will be playing is a bit more interesting given the most unusual changes made by Strachan against Motherwell...I love listening to the team in the stadium after having ignored the pundits on the radio on the way in.

Wondering who is playing was much better years ago when some of the guys on the were surprises when the team ran onto the field smile.gif Sort of miss that...anyhoo after Clugs (thought Rangers were still there europe for a minute) away result last night I hope nobody is undrestimating Aalborg, I hear they think this is their easiest away wink.gif

Regardless another big Euro night coming up....great feeling when the CL music is played

Canny wait laugh.gif

I know that Celtic fans aren't that bright, but Shaun IS NOT a striker.

He's a fairly poor left winger, who can hit a free kick. Thanks for doubling what we paid for him to buy him back! tongue.gif

Definately a must win for us tonight, I always find it quite nervy when we play teams that we know nothing about.

I thought Crosas had a good first half against motherwell, but never really done much in the second.
i think i'd put McGeady in for Crosas and bring Brown into the centre and put McGeady on the right.

Ive got a feeling Strachan will drop Robson and have Crosas and Brown in the middle.

i'd also bring Loovens in for Mcmanus, but thats not going to happen either

Pink Freud
Much as there are a few Celtic fans who I would dearly love to watch collapse in fuming paranoia and general misery, I'd like to say - goan yoursel's Shellick. biggrin.gif

Can't see Celtic winning by any less than 3 goals, their unbelievable home form against one of the worst teams to ever get in the CL.

Oh TGFITW weren't happy tonight?

Paper headlines tomorrow "Strachan Out"?

Aalborg had one of the best chances of the game in the first half, and could have been 1-0 up at HT.

Our worst home performance in European competition since a 0-0 with Pat Dolan's plucky St. Patrick's Athletic in 1998. Prior to that it was when PSG wiped the floor with us in 1995. And at least on those occasions we had a few shots and stuff, this time we only produced anything at all once Aiden came on.

Credit to 'BK Alboorg' or whatever they're called, but Strachan must surely carry the can for this piece of nonsense.
