Five Queens players booked and Steve Tosh sent off.

Can't wait to hear from anyone who was at the game.

decent point. heard we hit post in first half
vikingTON
Methinks the red card will prove a talking point.
I think Queens will be happier with the point given the circumstances, and on overall play a draw was a fair result.
We hit the bar in the second half, but it's just another shot off target.

A few points I'd like to make:
1. Some Morton fans need a reality check - Queens are generally and clearly a better side than ourselves, so to expect us to play thrilling, dominant Brazil 1970-esque football is ridiculous.
We're fighting relegation this season - that is clear and we have to accept that some sides will be better and we have to try to contain them more than the other way around.
2. Quite a few of the Cowshed tacticians need to get a grip too: the complaints about us playing very deep in the first half are unwarranted given a rare clean sheet.
We have a slow, positively lethargic back line up against the pace of Kean: wtf do you want Irons to do?
3. We need another attacking option. Wake was dominated by Thomson all day, but we lacked the depth in reserve to change that problem.

Had I been offered a win and draw, not to mention two clean sheets, after the debacle at Airdrie I'd have eaten Peter Weatherson to get that: we're building up again from the back, and with a bit of luck and a lot more patience the goals will come.
Disappointed we didn't capitalise on the extra man but it's only a spare man - not a goal.

All in all I'm not up or down about the result and expected that sort of performance.
Swampy
Did Stevie Tosh actually get two red cards or was it an optical illusion? laugh.gif

A draw's fair. Queens probably shaded it until the (merited) sending-off, but overall there wasn't too much in it.

Looking at the fixture list I find it hard to see too many obvious sources of three points: against a ten-man team, even a reasonably good one like Queens, is one such occasion. It's worrying that we didn't really look like getting it.
BluebirdTon
Still not good enough, its not even if we're showing signs that we could improve and turn out be half decent. We're stuck with this shit until January and by the looks of things, while bottom of the league.

Something has to change, so much to choose from.

Our distribution of the ball is so slow and tiersome to watch. Every ball into the box is poor, or dealt with poorly and we are so careless.

Its an absolute mystery how we are getting so far in those cups.

I think given the circumstances Morton should be happier with the point, after all, you are sitting at the foot of the table. You know, below nine other sides. If the league were to end now, you would be relegated.

Are you aware of this?

Morton are boring to watch. BORING!

Is Tosh suspended for next Saturday against us? I can never remember if its just a straight red you get a suspension for next game.

Couldn't make it today. Happy with a point. Good record at Morton but you can't complain coming away with something. Was only gutted by the fact had we won we would've went top!

As usual, unbiased match reports from Ton fans.

If the problem you refer to is your own severe mental deficiencies then I can say we are all aware of it.

QotS were by far the better side in the first half, but they couldn't take advantage of our horrendous defending. We were a bit more in it in the second but Queens were still the better side up till the sending off. Tosh (unsurprisingly) booked for mouthing off at the ref (what was he moaning about anyway?) and then booked again a couple of minutes later for hand ball, with the speed the ball was travelling at and with how close he was to the shot it might have been unfair, but the ref was in a good position and I can only assume Tosh stuck his arms out. After the sending off Morton tried to put on pressure but Queens were still dangerous on the break.

Not good enough from us, lucky to get the point.

Duh, but thats the point.

We had the whole summer to find decent enough players to have a comfortable enough position in the league come next April/May, and we've not improved. Yet again, we're having to endure the same shite we did last year - a year on and NEW players.

We plan on spending A FEW MILLION on the stadium over the next 18 months, why can't we spend the money where its so blatently needed ? We're not going to the SPL anytime soon.

Davie Irons has a masterplan: we are going back to the 3rd Division before doing a Gretna and winning our way through every league in quick succession, only we don't go bust.

We have improved, the result today shows an improvement upon last year's.
Whether we've improvd enough or not remains to be seen, but we were never likely to construct a better squad and team than Queens this year, and so today was always going to be a case of defence more than attack.
Had this result came against overrated pish like Dundee some Morton fans would be creaming themselves over it - but who's to say Queens won't be more successful than Dundee?
So we didn't play well today - we still got a point against a good side with a superb record at Cappielow - that's not bad.
So long as we can beat the likes of Clyde and Ross County, and compliment it with draws and occasional wins against the better sides, we'll survive.

Fairly sure Tosh`s 2nd yellow was also for dissent mad.gif after Jim Thomson was penalised for handball.
Anyway, thought we dominated the first half and were unlucky not to be at least one up. More even second half especially after the red card but as you say we were still dangerous on the break. Despite his critics our defence remains more solid when Thomson plays.

if the second yellow was for hand ball, it wasnt tosh who handled it, it was thomson. I thot he was booked for the challenge on mcguffie as he was trying to shoot, thats how me and most around me saw it. He deserved to go anyway, he was still berrating the ref after his first booking, if the ref had baws, hed hav sent him off there and then.

anyway, sh*te game, decent point

Fair enough, I was following the ball, noticed it had taken a deflection and turned around and saw Tosh lying on the floor around where the shot had been taken.

Was the free-kick given for the foul then? That would explain the position it was taken from.

im not 100%, but i think so, that was the consensus near me anyway, tosh slid in late on mcguffie and his shot hit thomson, possibly in the hands.

doesnt matter where the free kick was taken from, we seem incapable of mounting a serious set piece presence, why was alex walker taking them today???

Alex Walker was taking them because we have no-one else willing to or capable.
Floating crosses were going to be mopped up by Thomson all day but the players/management lack the necessary three brain cells to react to that fact.

Queens gave us a doing in the first half and shouldve been out off sight. The second half was more even up until Tosh got sent off then we thought more about going for the win. The performance of the ref(Allan?) was one of the worst ive ever seen.I think the more honest Ton fans will admit that Queens got nothing out off him today. He booked Bell for handball when he caught the ball well inside his box but slid outside due to the conditons when there was no threat which was as bad as a decision ive seen until he sent off Tosh.....twice!
Tosh threw himself in front of a piledriver right at the edge of the box and the rising shot struck what appeared to be his arm,but from where i was standing he seemed to have his arms within his body so even if it had missed his arm he would still have blocked it. Ive not got much time for Tosh but he was brave enough to dive full length with his nuts exposed to prevent a goal.he did what was expected of him but then gets sent off twice for initially refusing to leave the pitch. If it had happened to us we'd have been foaming at the mouth with letters flying off to the SFL to complain,so Queens have my sympathy and i hope more Ton supporters agree.
Tosh is still a tosser though with that mouth. If he hadnt been mouthing off constantly he mightve got more sympathy from the ref. i reckon Chisolm will hammer him for getting that second red which could cost Queens dearly come the season's end due to theirl squad losing lots of players through needless suspension.
Anyway, i reckon Queens are as good a footballing side ive seen this season and will be right up there at the top if they can avoid injuries and suspensions.

Likewise sure that Crawford (Graham Poll) Allan did show the red card before all the players got involved. Then showed a yellow and red again.

Fairly positive he did that.

Waste of 'old talent' because he, Macfarland and Burns ran the game for you.

Sounds like a single red to me. If it was a second red then no need to show another yellow. I suspect (hope!!) he was just making it clear to all that Tosh was off for a second yellow. Disastrous for us if it is 2 reds as the subsequent lengthy supension will hit us hard. For all his faults Tosh is comfortably our best midfielder especially in a creative sense.

Were we just unlucky or even poorer then?

seems to be some dispute who the handball was given against for Tosh's sending off.
I thought it was Tosh, in which case he was very unlucky considering that he threw himself in to block the shot and it could have hit any part of him.
If it was Thomson as others think, and Tosh walked for a second bout of dissent, then he really is a stupid arse.

Otherwise a much improved performance compared to last week.
veteran
I'm fairly sure that the second booking for Tosh was not given for the challenge but for mouthing by Tosh.
I would assume a hefty fine is due.If not it should be.
The booking of Bell has to be bad joke of the season.Bell collected the ball well inside his box and slid several yards on a very greasy pitch.
I would look on this game overall as two points dropped rather than one gained.

He`s not the brightest and his bookings for dissent drive me mad That being said he is one of the best players in the division. Loads of abilty and knows it, hates to lose and is a big game player. We`d be insane to get rid of him and had we done so last season I very much doubt we`d have been in the cup final.
Tonsilitis
If the truth is told, both teams were pretty poor today with Morton being the poorer overall. First half Queens were the better team but did not create many clear cut openings. The one where the guy hit the post though he really should have buried - he had a open goal!

Second half Morton came back into it and were better mostly because we tried to rpess the ball a bit further up the park. In the first half we seemed to be played an 8-1-1 formation. Iain Russell was probably our best player on the the day and at least he tried to attack the Queens defence. He hit the bar with a 25 yarder with the keeper beaten plus we ended up dominating the last 20 minutes which you would expect against ten men.

Queens were the better team but us getting a draw was not daylight robbery. We are a bit more secure at the back and thats progress but we need to be creating more chances.

All in all I should be happy with another clean sheet but I'm not. Thats six games now and still no wins. The only encouragement I have is that mid table is still potentially only a couple of wins away.

PS I thought the ref was unnecessarily picky today with a lot of the cards. Some tackles maybe did merit a card but the were a few where the conditions played their part and made it look worse than it was. Tosh though sent himself off. You can't abuse the officials like that no matter how bad they are.
