Without Griffiths, we don't look like scoring many. Airdrie seem to have thier defence sorted so you have to expect a low scoring game.

Will probably end up 4-3 to us or something.
LIVIFOREVER
Depends who we have in defense and if we have a recognised striker playing, we could sneak a 1-0 win maybe, would imagine it to be a close game, our defense would have to hold together for the whole game though, we did ok for most of the Partick game but collapsed near the end with a makeshift back line.

I concur. With Griffiths out we have to hope that our remaining forwards step up to the plate. Smith has been banging them in for the reserves but has little 1st team experience. Elliot will probably start but he is an unknown quantity for us and this division. Our defence should be back at full strength and for that reason I don't think we will concede. Unfortunately I feel our forwards may also struggle to score. May well be a 0-0 but if we have aspirations of title chasing then a home game against Airdrie is a must win.

MacKay McPake Innes Talbot
McParland Fox Davidson Hammill
Quinn Elliot

Although personally I would drop Quinn back into midfield ahead of Fox with Smith up front and use Cuenca as an impact sub. He's not big but he's fast.

You've just outed yourself as a bit of a tube. Well done.

A team who've conceded 1 league goal in 5 games are obviously a pushover.

A fine cliche, but home advantage means little in this league. Most of the pitches are the same size and in similar condition. Home supports are deathly quiet too.

I read it as the usual disrespectful, misinformed pish that some opposition supporters have been slabbering since day one.

Can't say i read it as disrepecting Airdrie at all, maybe don't give you the respect of say Dundee or QoS as we don't see you as title contenders, but Airdrie will be no pushovers, your a very difficult team to score against, plus we've just lost a player we've relied a bit too much upon.
Not sure if we're contenders either right enough, only reason i put us in that catagory is that we're currently sitting top of the league, however if i were an Airdrie fan i'd fancy a win against us.

Well if I'm outed as a tube you must therefor be King Tube The Great of All The Tubes. You must be on the wind up but I'm biting anyway.

Your fellow fan has it right. At NO point did I disrespect your team or say that you will be a pushover. In fact I didn't even suggest that we would beat you. I suggested a draw. Our manager wants us to challenge for promotion and as diamonds2002 says, if that's the case we need to beat all the other teams. I also think that there is a slight advantage at home. You won't find many people disagreeing with that.

Have all your 5000+ posts been so ignorant?

I leave ignorance to the many posters on here who've been talking my team down since July, despite having no idea of the abliity or otherwise of our players.

You suggest that beating Airdrie is a pre-requisite for any team looking to gain promotion. Thistle, Queens, Dunfermline and Dundee will almost certainly be in the mix, yet only Thistle have scored against us.

We won't be promoted this season, but we'll not lose many games either. I'm not asking that you have an open top bus parade if it finishes 0-0 on Saturday, but over time a draw with us isn't going to look too bad for any team, regardless of their aspirations.

Good point, worth noting.   Five goals for only one against, Challenge Cup semis and bumped an SPL club out the league cup. All that already and just up from div two. They've more to worry about elsewhere, i.e. Clyde, Morton and St J.  nologo.gif

Yes, yes I do. So does everyone else. At your own admission, you aren't going to win the league so how can anyone else unless they beat Airdrie? huh.gif You're not suggesting that every team going to Airdrie will draw 0-0 are you?

It is worth noting. Airdrie have probably already exceeded some fans hopes and if they stay in the division it will be a job well done. It's also worth noting that winning league games appears (thus far) to be a bit of a problem.

Chip on his shoulder?   Not exactly.   More likely someone else has a latent superioriity complex.  Just because Livi is top after five games means ziltch.   Rome wasn't built in a day.    nologo.gif   It's between you, us, Dumbdee, QoS and the Dunfers. Airdrie will be over-achievers of the season.  Remember, they've got friends in high places. At least the former incarnation, Airdrieonians, used to.

It's 5 games and who is being superior, bloody pleased at being top yes, superior about it, no. The guy went off on one cause he's reading into what another poster say as showing no respect to Airdrie, also quotes that most fans are ignorant of them, i think we all know exactly how hard it is to beat Airdrie but my point is, why care so much about what others think of your team, couldn't give a feck what anyone thinks of Livi, christ i've seen all the comments about us, ranging from plastic team, legoland stadium, shite town blah blah blah, water off a ducks back mate. smile.gif

RE your promotion aspirations, you state that beating Airdrie at home is a must win game.

Surely then, every home game is one that you'd be expecting to win irrespective of the opposition?

Is Dundee at home a must win game?

The tone of your initial post, and I think this is why it has illiceted such a furore, is that we're no very good.

You appear to be very dismissive of, or making assumptions about the current Airdrie squad. If you are, I'd just like to know on how you arrived at your conclusions?

Apparently, your main man up front may be out for five weeks. If this is true, has it tempered your viewpoint on the outcome of the game?

Finally, I don't think "the guy went off on one", I think he took justifiable umbridge to your previously mentioned comment.

If we beat you or draw with you in our up and coming encounter does that mean that you can write off promotion?

smith has been scoring for fun in the 19s and scored when he came on vs shire. Clum has yet to play in div 1 so it is unfair to judge our 'lack of cutting edge' until those two have been given a chance.
