So, I upgraded a video plugin for my Joomla site and suddenly there's a requirement for Silverlight. I can't see anything about it on the plugin documentation (AllVideo from Joomlaworks) but I don't believe that Microsoft have decided to retrofit it to all IE versions out there.

1) What is it?
2) Is it the AllVideo plug-in that silently requests it?
3) Is there a decent alternative plug-in?

I think it's Microsofts answer to Adobe Flash.

Cheers. Typical Microsoft pseudo-babble. Windows Media 'Ecosystem' indeed biggrin.gif

Edited to include: I suppose that it is the plug-in requesting Silverlight to play a .wmv file then. Maybe I'll try an .avi or an .mpg to see what happens
