Asking on behalf of my flat mate who would appear to have been ripped off by someone selling counterfeit items on eBay.

Back in April he spent ~ £80 on a set of GHD straighteners from a seller on eBay. They arrived in working condition but after a couple of weeks they malfunctioned. He sent them off to GHD who told him that they were fakes and were basically a cheaper straightener with a GHD label stuck on them. He reported the seller to GHD and made them aware of the issue but didn't do anything about the guy on eBay as such (i.e. contacting eBay).

Is there anything he can do to get his money back or at least report the seller to eBay that he is selling rip off goods? It would appear that you can only report stuff that is being sold currently and not in the past. Admittedly he should have acted long before now but I only found out from him today about it.

Any help appreciated smile.gif

Unfortunately probably too late now. ebay and paypal tend to operate a 90 day claimback system. If he / she used paypal trawl through paypal records and get the transaction number then raise a claim for faulty / item not as described.

Worth a try but unfortunately think its a bit late now. sad.gif

If that is the case then fair enough. He is a bit of a tool for leaving it so late now anyway.

If it was with a credit card he might have some luck contacting the credit card company and getting a Chargeback smile.gif

That exact same thing happened to one of my mates who bought straighteners for his daughter, he informed ebay about the seller who told him they would moniter the selleres ebay activity, if enough people complained about this type of thing then they would have to ban the seller and compensat somehow.
