To me it seems like they are getting further away from what Football Manager should be. All of this press conference, and media relations is usually boring as hell, even the team talks were duf in '08. For me Championship Manager 01/02 will never be beaten for playability, the way it looked, and the simplicity of the game.

I'll still buy it though I bet, no matter how many times I need to patch it afterwards.

I'm playing CM 93 just now and finding it far more addictive than FM 2008!

I start a career in FM 2008 for a few seasons then get bored far too easily!!!

The thing about the older ones was that it was so easy. You just sign players, who normally have about 5 attributes that you have to look at and after 15 years or so Man United are in the 3rd Division and Barnet are championship challengers in the Premiership.

I prefer it to be a little more realistic and difficult. Championship Manager 01/02 was great at the time and the first one I played regularly but I couldn't play it now.

Strangely enough I'm Barnet in my game currently in the 1st Division looking to get promoted to the Premiership

I just find Football Manager too time consuming while CM93 or CM 97/98 you can get into a game much quicker

It's out mid November. From past memory beta testing for the research folk usually starts about two months before it comes out - and I'm supposed to have my copy of the beta in the next week or so.

Whats wrong with Game?

It's horrifically overpriced and staffed with idiots that know nothing about games or computers / consoles (a few months ago one of the managers assured my mate that his "inside info" was that MS were ready to withdraw the 360 from sale as they were conceding defeat to the PS3 ).

EDIT: Just had a look at their website. They're still trying to sell Halo 3 for £39.99 (and are advertising it as "saving" £10 as the RRP is £49.99) even though you can get it from Blah for £15.89 delivered!

To purchase things for free on the Game card?

To get a decent amount of points on the Game card you have to buy a ridiculous amount of overpriced nonsense in the first place.

Im not going to argue about the staff, but as a high street retailer its no more overpriced than any other.

I've saved lots of money with my loyalty card and trade ins - I got Guitar Hero 3 a couple of months ago for £24 by trading in a couple of games I didnt play anymore, for example.

As for online, again they're no better or worse than any other, IMO. You quoted Halo 3 on Blah - but if you check Madden 09 for the Wii, its actually cheaper on the Game site - and in stock, Blah dont have any. Tiger Woods 09 is £29.99 on Game but isnt even listed on Blah.

I just think it's ridiculously overpriced. The problem I have with the Game card is that the stuff you buy from Game to get points is by and large sold at a price higher than what a person needs to pay. They also offer a pittance for trade-ins.

You're right, it's no worse than most High Street retailers, especially as Gamestation has went the same way since Game bought it.

I use Find Games to, er, find games - and almost always find things cheaper than game. I used Blah as an example for Halo 3 as they were the cheapest. You can get Madden 09 and Tiger Woods 09 for £29 each on Zavvi, cheaper again than Game.

Maybe I just hate high street shopping

i usually shop in gamestation as game doesn't have a second hand section, plus the staff are generally a bit more aware (if that is the correct word).
