I think the game on Wednesday is going to be harder than some think. Decent result for Iceland and they will be at home this time. I think the average football fan could probably name more Iceland players than Macedonia as well, and not many people knew of any Macedonian players besides Pandev.

Iceland have some good players excluding talisman Gudjohnsen. Midfielders like Stefan Gislason and Veiger Pall Gunnarsson can hurt you and Helguson is a handful up front. I rate Steinsson pretty highly.

They're not the most technical side however they will make it difficult for Scotland.

Macedonia lost to Andorra. Frankly Iceland are just as poor as Macedonia, if we get anything other than a victory it's all over, folks.

The draw tonight was a good result for us but it will mean nothing if we dont win our next 2 games!!!!
Although we were terrible today we are capable of getting the results we need - not saying we will but it is definately possible.

Iceland have been dire of late with even the welsh reserves thumping them. If we cannot secure 3 points over there on wed then we should use the rest of this campaign to build for the Euros cos we certainly have no chance of hitting the wc. In fact we might already be struggling for the wc cos 2nd place doesnt guarantee a play off place and our group already has the look of one where the 2nd place team will miss out

On the plus side, as a none SSC member, my chances of getting a ticket have dramatically increased for our next homes games

Yes, we kept getting reminded about the Dutch and two English results - neither of which were secured at Wembley by the way - but it's funny that none of the management mentioned Andorra.

Everyone knows that these teams can put up a fight, but the fact is that we need to take points from such games to qualify and we didn't get or deserve any.

Holland will already be through, its the last game, at Hampden. We have pulled off some good results at home and might manage one more.

this draw was the only bright point of a dismal weekend. norway have now dropped two points and are a home game less. i would expect macedonia to fall behind as the group progresses, but a win in iceland is vital to give us a chance of the play off. it's us or norway for 2nd.

2nd doesnt get us a play off place for certain. Given that we have both dropped points we could easily make 2nd place and lose out by comparison to the performances of the other 2nd placed teams.

Of the nine qualifying groups eight of them will get a playoff place for finishing 2nd. Bearing in mind the results against the shittest teams in the groups of 6 will be invalid every group has only 5 teams in terms of best 2nd place calculation. It is ridiculous to suggest at this stage our group will be the one out of nine that doesnt have a best 2nd place position.

coming in from the boozer, seeing this was the best part of the day for me. Excellent result and hopefully they and macedonia can all cancel themselves out with alot of draws.

How can you tell by now ? Weve only played 1 game , theres 7 more to go and no games in this group are a stick on. If we were to beat Iceland and Norway everyone would be saying Burley just got off to a bad start , we can beat Holland home and away and win the group. So everyone just needs to give it time and if the players do there best then who cares what happens , weve also got a good looking under 21 team and alot of young promising players.

Thats precisley why 2nd place will quite possibly be secured with a relatively low points total. there is every chance that ourselves, Norway Iceland and Macedonia will be scrambling for 2nd place and take a fair few points off of each other. If that happens then it is entirely possible that the 2nd place team in our group will miss out on the play off spot. Im not saying it will happen, but is quite feasible.

Aye but you could say that about alot of other groups tae. I mean group 3 has Czech republic , Poland , Slovakia , Slovenia and Northern Ireland , Czech republic will assumingly win it but Poland , Slovenia , slovakia and northern Ireland have got very little between them.

Also i really dont think Macedonia and Iceland will be challenging for 2nd spot , for me its a dogfight between us and Norway.
