As it says, anybody know the record for amount of games scored in a row?

British and worldwide would be appreciated.
Steve McQueen
Do you mean for a club or a player?

In 1992/93 Aberdeen went through a bit of a purple patch (shame it ended up with only runners up medals in three competitions....what we wouldn't give for that now though)

24/11 Partick Thistle 0-7 Aberdeen (Jess, Shearer 3, Mason, Kane, Booth)
28/11 Aberdeen 6-2 Hearts (Irvine, Shearer 3, Mason, Booth)

also had a sequence of 3 games:

9/1 Aberdeen 4-1 Hamilton Scots Cup (Irvine, Booth 3)
16/1 Aberdeen 7-0 Airdrie (Irvine, Jess, Booth, Paatelainen 4)
30/1 Falkirk 1-4 Aberdeen (Booth, Jess2, Shearer)

oh for a team like that again, with a forward line with stats like this at the end of the season:
Shearer 28 goals
Paatelaninen 20 goals
Booth 19 goals
Jess 16 goals

Can't even get one player to 16 these days, never mind 4

If its players your talking about i remember Scacel scored in the first 7 games in a season dont know iif anybody has scored more though. John Robertson and Jimmy Waurdaugh also done it at Hearts.

Scottish record I believe is scoring in 16 consecutive League games. That was by Evelyn Morrison of Falkirk in 1928/29 and he aggregated 29 goals in those 16 matches. Bobby Lennox scored in 13 consecutive matches for Celtic and Finn Dossing in 12 for Dundee United.

On the wider subject of sequences and scores, Hibs played Celtic at Easter Road 5 times with 33 goals scored between January 1985 and March 1986, the scores were:

Hibs 6 Celtic 3
Hibs 4 Celtic 4
Hibs 0 Celtic 5
Hibs 2 Celtic 2
Hibs 4 Celtic 3

From the 17th March 1990 to the 28th January 1991 Hibs never scored more than 1 goal in any competitive match. 34 games in total (17 games with no goals, 17 games with only 1 goal)

For a purple patch, in season 1972/73 between the 20th September 1972 and 1st January 1973 (a 14 week period) Hibs beat:
Ayr United 8-1 in the league
Hearts 7-0 (yaaaassssssssss) in the league
FC Besa 7-1 in the European Cup Winners Cup
Sporting Lisbon 6-1 in the European Cup Winners Cup
Airdrie 10-3 on aggregate in the League Cup and 5-2 in the league between the two legs!
Dundee United 5-2 in the League Cup
and scored 3 or more goals in another 9 matches winning a total of 18 games (including a League Cup Final) and losing only twice in 24 games in total.

and they humped both sides of the Old Firm 4 times in total at Hampden that season too...

Rangers in the Dryburgh Cup semi final at Hampden 3-0
Rangers in the League Cup semi final at Hampden 1-0
Celtic in the Dryburgh Cup Final at Hampden 5-3
Celtic in the League Cup Final at Hampden 2-1

By the end of season 1972/73, Alan Gordon had scored 42, Jim O'Rourke 34 and Arthur Duncan 23, three players with a total of 99 goals!

Marco Negri scored in his first 10 league games for Rangers during the 1997/98 season amassing an amazing 23 goals until Celtic broke his scoring run at Ibrox (Rangers still won the match 1-0 though).

Those first ten matches included 5 in a match against Dundee United, 4 in a match against Dunfermline and 'just' an ordinary hat trick against Kilmarnock as well as numerous braces and singles.

He finished that season with the league stats 28 (1) 32, 'only' managing a further 9 league goals over the remainder of the season.

"Just" another nine goals that season, but he stopped playing around Christmas after getting an eye injury playing squash, think he finished the top scorer that season despite only playing for just over half the season.

I know, it does sounds like one of those tall stories, Rangers used the gym in my work before Murray Park was built and a Rangers fan who I worked beside was also a member of the gym and saw the incident.

How that stopped him playing for four months is beyond me though.

Who did Rangers sign Negri from?

In 2005/06 Craig Dargo scored in eight consecutive SPL games - I think taht is the record for the SPL.

8-12-2005 Scottish Premier Inverness CT 1-1 Celtic 1
26-12-2005 Scottish Premier Inverness CT 2-0 Hibernian 1
14-01-2006 Scottish Premier Inverness CT 3-0 Livingston 2
21-01-2006 Scottish Premier Falkirk 1-4 Inverness CT 1
29-01-2006 Scottish Premier Inverness CT 2-3 Rangers 1
08-02-2006 Scottish Premier Dunfermline 2-2 Inverness CT 1
11-02-2006 Scottish Premier Inverness CT 3-3 Kilmarnock 1
18-02-2006 Scottish Premier Dundee Utd 2-4 Inverness CT 1

During this run Dennis Wyness also scored in the highlighted bold games. I'm sure that was some sort of record.

Perugia i think... i cant really remember to be honest!

Just did a quick search on him. After that 1st season at Rangers. He only played another 30 games in his career. From the age of 28 to retirement last year, 30 games. Strange one.

Wasnt it Amoruso that smacked him for sleeping with Sergio Porrini's wife?

Club record for Dumbarton is 12 games in a row.

Between 16th October 1971 and 3rd Jan 1972 Kenny Wilson scored 20 goals in 12 games, including 3 v Albion Rovers and 4 v Alloa, scoring in all 12 matches.

Edited to add Flannery bit

I've heard folk more recently getting excited as Flannery scored in 4 consecutive games and asking the question. Not even close!

Right then, here's my Marco Negri theory...

...signed from Perugia for £3.5m by Walter Smith on 18k contract, meteoric start at Ibrox scoring goals for fun - but ironically didn't really celebrate them with his new team-mates. Only really socialised with Sergio Porrini playing squash (hence eye injury?)

Rumours abound that he was shagging Porrini's and that either Porrini or Amorouso belted him - out for six weeks with previously mentioned eye injury & severe loss of form.

Could it be that he was made a social outcast by the rest of the Rangers squad? New star & darling of the fans, gets too big for his boots so gets brought down a peg or two. Players refuse to pay in same squad as Negri, rumours spread about him & no other club wants to buy him.

Smith has to play him in the reserves (in fact I think he played in a pre-season friendly at East Fife in which Rangers reserves got beat?

...only an theory tho' wink.gif

After his great start and subsequent drop in form, essential cost Rangers their 10th title in a row & a Henrick Larsson inspired Celtic won the Premier League Title.
