Full Version: Cameron & Morris

It is blatantly obvious that Dundee and St Johnstone desperately need their experienced midfielders back playing soon. Both teams' midfields seem to have been pretty anonymous in the first few games of the season. I think Cameron got a run out tonight in a bounce game against Albion Rovers, his first action since straining a medial ligament. Hopefully he will be involved in the upcoming difficult run of games against Dunfermline, Livingston and Saints. Any news on Morris? What exactly is wrong with him?

Just on way back from game now.

Cameron played exactly an hour and looked good. Got around the park well and put in a fair number of challenge.

"Mark Pollock"

I'm off to the rhyming slang thread...

Tommy, I know Alec said he doesnt want to rush Colin, but do you think he has a good chance of making the Dunfermline game based on what you saw tonite?

I was surprised he played for so long tonight as i expected only to see him for maybe the last half hour. With another week of training to come i'd say theres a good chance he'll play some part against Dunfermline.

We have bigger problems than not having Jody Morris available. There are a few demons that need excorcised in that squad, whether MOrris is the man to do it i don't know. Its going to take someone with a big heart and a bit of talent to turn it around.

That's good to hear. smile.gif

Not only is he a creative player, but also an aggressive one. He will add a lot to our midfield.

Good report Tommy. Great news about Cameron starting the game and playing an hour. Also good to hear Deasley and Davidson putting in good shifts. Need to keep McMenamin and Antoine-Curier on their toes, particularly given their recent lack of goals. It would also seem McKeown is in line for his first competitive start against Dunfermline.

Yeah I was a bit surpised also tbh. Good news for a change eh? lol Good to hear Deasley is still banging them in as well.

Cheers Tommy and for the game report also. wink.gif

That's not like you, well unless Nizzy's involved that is.

I wonder who would win a straight duel to the death between Jody Morris and Colin Cameron?

Or better yet. Put them both in a room with only one pistol, one bullet and a line of some popular substance. Possibilities are endless.

Morris should play against Hearts in a closed doors game on Monday and McInnes is making positive noises about this two week break being just right for both Morris and James in terms of getting them up to speed. To be honest though, just as much as we need Morris available, we need Martin Hardie to start showing some sign of form. Unrealistic to expect him to come back into things after virtually a year out and play as he did at the tail end of 2006/07 but he's been well off the pace in the last few drubbings we've had.

I really like the potential of a Hardie and Morris partnership as the latter can sit in front of the back four whilst allowing Hardie to push forward as he did so effectively when he had Derek McInnes behind him. At the moment he's just not getting in the same sort of areas. With Chris Millar to the right, that would leave us with one of Sheerin, Craig or Swankie on the left.

You'd also hope the centre backs settle down a bit with Morris in front of them and although we've stopped concededing as many directly from crosses into the box, that would leave us with just the full backs to worry about, as well as settling on a preferred front pairing, or at least a rotation between three involving the physique of Holmes when required.

Did you miss the first goal conceded against Livvy and the second conceded against Clyde or have you purposefully erased them from your memory?

Trust me, that's an improvement! We went through a spell that was far worse. All four goals at Inverness, all three goals against Burnley, Stenny's goal and both of Morton's goals. That was ten goals in a row conceded to crosses into the box!

Don't get me wrong, it's still a problem for us and to be honest, my post was badly worded as it's probably not any less of a problem now, it's just we've also managed to start conceding other types of goals.

Me and Niz would have made a mess here. It would be like the Semen discussion in Superbad.

With regards to the duel, my money is on Mickey as he is a Fifer and everyone knows we are hard as f**k.

I notice Morris is having to consult a specialist having broken down in a closed door game against Hearts. What news on Cameron's recovery?
