Anyone else ever performed a speed run of a videogame?

Never bothered. I once saw this.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTUOn2EUFhk ..and it put me off ever bothering to try. It just looks too much hard work.

(edit: fast forward to about 3 minutes in to miss the intro, and 8 minutes if you want to see from the start of the action)

I once completed The Secret Of Monkey Island in 50 minutes.

My GTAIV story mode completion was 28 hrs 40 mins. It took me 6 years to finish Pokemon Yellow. I doubt i'd be suited for it

Theres something been done to that. Whilst its still impressive its like he's sprinting constantly.
Its either been speeded up, theres been a sprint hack or something else similar has been done.

Impressive none the less though.

Alright for a first go...I think.

Check out the Quake Done Quick speed runs (Q1 and Q2) for some outrageous skills and stunts, all done with strictly no hacks or cheats. There was one combined rocket/grenade jump that apparently had to be pixel-perfect to pull off. I imagine none of the people involved completed higher education, given the hours they must have put in to learn this stuff.
