Mendes looks like a player. At 29, though, he's hardly a long-term prospect. I dont think any of the other signings are up to much.
The bottom line is you've lost your best two players from last season (Hutton and Cuellar), your remaining best player (Bazza) is yet another year beyond his peak, if he ever plays again, and the rest of your squad is aging like old cheese. Rangers are worse than they were last season. Plus, you're skint!
I would have liked Celtic to buy a left back, but some of the signings we've made should be great. Samaras will score goals, Crosas looks promising, Maloney is a star, and Loovens might be the assured centre-half we've been looking for. Even without a new left-back, Celtic are better than they were last season. Oh, yeah, and we're loaded!
Maloney is no better than what you had and is on a par with Beasley.
He will be back-up.
Crosas wasn't even wanted by your manager it seems.
Maloney or Lafferty? I'd take Lafferty
Crosas or Aaron? I'd take Aaron
Loovens or Bougherra? (on last seasons championship) I'd take Bougherra.
"the next G.Best" or Edu? Well "the next G.Best" couldn't get a game in the English League Two. So if Edu is even half decent, he'll be a better player.
Which leaves us at Pedro Mendes, the best player to have been bought this window by either of the OF, and the best Midfielder in Scotland.
Samaras is also a very average player, nothing special that I've ever seen from him.
Steven Davis, played in the Premiership, and played superb during his time at Villa, talent doesn't fade, and bossed the game between Scotland and N. Ireland.
Velicka, can score a goal, you lot should know that.
Miller, sh*te, Walter Smiths waste of money this season (last seasons was Whittaker).
IMO, a fully fit Rangers side is better than a fully fit Celtic side.
Of course, I'd have prefered to see us sign a proper right winger, but Novo seems to play well there vs you lot, so he shall do for this season.

Not one single Rangers signing fills me with any kind of trepidation. Not one.
Mendes is a good footballer but he's merely someone who can actually pass the ball. Amazing how Rangers fans actually herald a ball playing midfielder as the way forward. We've had Nakamura, Hartley and even Donati for a while now, players who are comfortable in possesion and who can get it forward. The fact that Rangers now have one and they're heralding him as a genius says it all really.
Hartley, Donati and Nakamura couldn't lace Mendes's boots in term of passing ability, and eye for a pass.
