Full Version: Summarise Your Teams Season So Far!
The Pie Shop > SPL and SFL Football > 1st Division General Chatter
Alloa_Shire
Well that's it, once tomorrow/this weekend has gone those's the first step of the new season underway before players meet up for there International Duties or have a break for those that are away.

How has your team performed so far this season???? Looking better than you expected or looking worse???? Any of your new signings looking good or worse than ever before???? I think you get the point.

Briefly sum up how your team have done so far, just out of interest
Pride Of The Clyde
Most of our pre-season signings, so far have been disapointing and need to improve greatly, or we are in for a long hard season.
We have far too many players who are physically not strong enough to compete in this division and have been overrun by most teams we have played this season, particularly in midfield. Unless this problem is addressed we will not win many games this season and we will be very lucky to even manage to finish in the playoff position.
LIVIFOREVER
Obv better than expected, we've won 6 out of 7 competative games and won all 4 of our home games. Played some good passing football but have had to graft and dig out a couple of wins in scrappy games too, not scored more than 2 goals in all but one game (4 against Stranraer), but also not conceded more than 1 goal in all but one game (2 against St J's) so have to be pleased with that.

New signings that have impressed so far are, McParland, Talbot, McKenzie, also think Cuenca will be a good signing after he's had a few more games, scored his first goal against St J's in the CIS cup game, hopefully that will have given him some confidence to get more.

Still much can be improved upon but so far so good.

What do think of Trouton? Did Thistle miss out on a good player or should we count our blessings?
airdrieman
okay i suppose i'd hope to score in the next 2 games though
The ghost of Jim Morton
spectacularly strange and quite unexpectedly surreal.Mindblowingly inadequate and DUFF!!!!!!! sad.gif

The good news is it,s still very early and there's plenty twists and turns ahead I believe.. biggrin.gif

A few times he has shown that he has a bit of ability but most of the time he has been hiding not looking for the ball. Maybe it is a confidence thing, if not and that is all we are going to get from him, i would say Thistle have had a lucky escape with him not signing for them.

Disappointing but not surprising after seeing us pre-season. We never looked like being where we should be and continued that into the Ross County game. McInnes kept saying the build up was geared towards 3:00pm on the first Saturday of the league season and when we beat Livi I thought he'd maybe got things right and even more so after the first half at Morton but since then, our league performances have been totally unacceptable.

We've not been able to put out a settled side for a variety of reasons, which I think is the contributing factor to our poor start, although there are question marks over the fitness of the squad and also whether they became a bit over confident.

Players don't become poor overnight though and I'm content to believe they'll get back to playing to their usual standard once we get a bit more consistency. Manager obviously has a role to play in that and signs from Tuesday are he's moved towards correcting what was wrong against Dunfermline and Partick.

Still waiting for it to get started in the leauge.

Doing not too badly in the cups. rolleyes.gif

If someone told me we'd lose only 1 goal in our 1st 4 league games against QOS and Dunfermline away and Partick and Dundee at home i'd have been happy, to then beat Ross Co and Hearts away in the Cup puts the icing on it, the only disappointment is the lack of league goals.

Hard to describe County's season so far, as very few County fans will have seen more than a couple of games due to the number of away games we've played / are playing - We looked quite good in the opening two games, beating St. Johnstone and narowly being beaten by Dundee, then it went a bit pear shaped against Airdrie.
Since then though it been all away games, and with another three away games before we get a hame game we'll have played 6 away games on the trot before we get a home game

shite football but were top of the league, hopefully we'll stay there.

Be in a better position to answer this properly this time tomorrow I suspect, or more likely next Sunday night.

It's been the positive side of ok I think so far but we can prove our credentials properly tomorrow or otherwise retreat and regroup.

We're out of the UEFA Cup but we put up a Hell of a fight and instilled much feelgood factor again in doing so. In truth few really expected us to reach the first round anyway did they?

We're in the last eight of the Challenge Cup with a home q-f v Morton to come next weekend and are the highest "ranked" side left in it.

We're in the last 16 of the CIS Cup (albeit without having kicked a ball in it so far).

And the league start has been ok despite the distractions (it might be argued in normal Queens terms it's been excellent given we've only lost once!). A home draw with Airdrie was slightly disappointing but not a disaster, a somewhat unfortunate away defeat at Dunfermline also disappointing but no crisis and a win over Thistle at Palmerston, still their only defeat, a significant confidence booster.

If we close right up on the top by beating Dundee tomorrow and County in midweek and reach the last four of the Challenge Cup next weekend it'll have been a superb start. No wins in those three games would mean it had been a big let down. Something in between will be acceptable but not outstanding. We shall see...................

Who are they??????? OOooohhhh you mean East Stirlingshire. You were obviosuly not at the game because if you were you'd have realised you weren't in Stirling.
Derry_boy
Been playing shite but still top of the league, Curier and Mcmenamin will have alot better service when Cameron returns and if it wasn't for Douglas we would probably be mid-table
G_Man1985
Yup what derry_boy said. Cameron we will have to wait and see how he does.

as for airdrie, pretty damn good so far. fantastic win against hearts in the cup, think it's pretty obvious now this team isn't leaking goals and is hard to beat, whether we can start scoring goals will be the difference between a pretty successful top half season and a relegation scrap. first time in years the boys have actually looked like a proper team as well rather than a collection of uninterested journeymen, so canny complain at all.
