Another ground I have never been to so looking forward to that.

Got to be worried that Thistle have found some form and after thrashing St Johnstone last weekend they will no doubt be looking to collect a further 3 points on Saturday.

We have had a week of and still looking to get our first win of the season. Should have come last week at Clyde but lost concentration and threw away the points.

Hopefully we will have learned from that and will be ready to give a godd account of ourselves on Sat.

This is our 4th away game on the spin so wouldnt expect to many away fans to be making the journey as it gets expensive.

We played excellent football in the 1st half against Clyde and went in 2-0 up at the break. That alone gives me confidence that we will get at least a point therefore, I am going for a 1-1 draw.

Yeah we have 6 away games in a row just now so its a tough start for us.
I'll be in attendance but i cant see us getting anything from the game unless our defence improves.

I dont think this will be an easy encouter, thistle will have to be very wary on saterday and not let the heads get too big.

I for one will obviously be there, but i will not be expecting a big scoreline, so i am gonna say 2 - 1 to thistle.

Hi Glesga. Can you tell me the best way to get from Queen St station to Fir Hill please?

Thanks

We have to have some confidence going into the game and given that you guys have (I don't know if they will start) two ex-Jaggy centre halves who weren't exactly amongst our best I'd hope for a home victory. Having said that County are one of those teams that always seem to have done okay against us, although that's based on my own unreliable memory rather than results. At the end of the day all games like this one until we fall away from the top of the league are going to be tests of whether we are potential champions or not, can we beat the teams we are expected to at home, and with some degree of comfort? That's no disrespect to County but at home to a newly promoted team you have to have some belief in yourselves and given our options up front I suspect we should have too much for you, especially since Dowie and Boyd are more comfortable (relatively speaking) with high balls and we prefer to get the ball into the strikers feet since none of ours are over 5'10.

Buses 40, 61, 109 and 119 from Buchanan St bus station take you within a couple of minutes of the ground, or underground to St Georges X which is just over 5 minutes away.

Also, please note it's Firhill. Has Strachan been getting much of a look in for you guys this season? Might as well play him on Saturday, he's a wee shyte and this may be the only chance you actually get to see him fully motivated. Expect him to score and make a choice gesture or two to the Jags fans if you give him the chance.

I'd be amazed if he managed to get the better of Twaddle on more than one occassion smile.gif

Firhill - rightso.

Strachan - I have yet to make an opinion of him. Clearly a quirky type who looks good on his day but has not cemented himself a first team place just yet.

He has featured in most of our games so far this season hitting the post against Dundee in the first game of the season. Latterly been coming on as a sub but was left out of the squad that went to Clyde last week.

No idea if he will be part of the squad on Sat but as you say may be a worthwhile addition being as he was broughtup at FH. I guess he will start on the bench and come on on the hour mark.

I hope Mr Adams doesn't read this forum but he may also get some joy out of Paul Paton if he plays wide left given his penchant for cutting inside and Paul's complete lack of a left foot. Please play him on the right instead, where Twaddle will have him in his back pocket.
Exuberant
take the subway. it's just £2.20 return and is far more frequent and convenient than the buses.

Strachan against Paton would be intersting, Strachan against Twaddle would be easy. smile.gif

If we do get a lead this week, I'm praying we'll be able to win although I wouldn't want us to start playing negative football. We need to continue to pass/create chances whilst our defence will hopefully step in the next few weeks.

I'll probably regret asking this at 4.45pm on Saturday, but how is devastatin' Dyron Daal getting on? I'm pretty sure you were talking him up big time during the close season.

How much is it to get into Firhill these days ?

I'm planning on heading down, but for me and my son the cheapest train tickets we can get are £70.
It would be cheaper to take the car, but that has it's own hassels.

Cheers.

Beats the £18 & £11 Livingston were charging the other week... Never went there when I found out the price to get in.

£15 is reasonable though, and great if my lad gets in for nothing.

In every sitution I'd take the Thistle player over the County one.
Loki
In eighteen matches between the sides Ross County have won five matches to Partick's eight. The stand out game for me was a 3-2 game between the sides at Victoria Park the season Partick last won the First Division. Partick were 2-0 up within four minutes after strikes from Fleming and Brittain but a Steve Hislop stunner just after half time secured the fightback from County. Partick's biggest ever win against County was a 4-0 thrashing at Firhill. County have only won once at Firhill and that was in their first ever game there which was a 2-0 win which included a goal from current Partick defender Ian Maxwell.

Given our defence has been ropey and Partick have looked good as an attacking unit so far this season, it points to a hme win. However if County can keep the ball and move it around the Prtick defence they will cause problems. I think we can pinch a draw, although the more likely result is a home win.

We've only conceded two goals in four league games, Carlos. We're more than just a decent attacking unit.

BTW, Maxi scored his second goal in two games tonight, as did Harkins.

Could this be the season where no one scores more than 5 goals, but EVERYONE scores about 5 goals laugh.gif

With regards to your train fare, why not try and get the friends fare from Inverness to Glasgow? It's for a group of either 3 or 4 friends. It's £40 return and you could either persuade someone else to go with you and your boy, or you could just say your mate couldn't go and you had already bought the tickets.

Hi JE,

I have just had a quick look and if you book your tickets in two stages it works out at only £50 for the two of you (assuming your boy is between 5 and 15?)

Go from Inv - Perth then Perth to Glasgow.

Have a go at that and see what you find.

Get the tube to St George's Cross and have a pint in the Royalty Ale House or Woodside Inn (both 5 mins from the tube) and go directly to firhill (another 5 mins) or have another pint in Munns Vaults round the corner from the ground. All on Maryhill Rd & handy for away fans.

Edit: all child friendly as well.

Adults are £15 and under 16s free.

Thistle looking great at the start of the season, should be a big crowd as a result...over the last few seasons its exactly this sort of fixture that we've then played shite in and lost. Hopefully we can buck the trend and continue our good start!

I might head up to this one. Usually a good game between the two sides.

If Ross County can play like the way they played for the first hour at Broadwood against Clyde a couple of weeks ago, then they could cause a wee shock.

Having said that, I've seen Partick on a couple of occasions this season and they look far better than they did last season.

I'm looking forward to this one.

I normally phone the clubs in the weeks leading up to the games to find out how much tickets are, when they told me the price I made a decision there and then not to go.

So i wasn't ripped off thankfully, but a bit concerning that the club gave out the wrong prices and possibly discouraging fans from attending !

With recent results, why not? The number of home fans at the Saints game was actually higher, with a poor turnout from the away fans (300 at best).
