Our Sky + is on the blink.

It keeps needing rebooted but then locks up after 20 mins or so.

Could this be anything to do with the telephone line or is it likely to be the box itself?

If it is fecked (it's 2 years old), do I just have to stump up for another or is it worth having Sky try to repair it?

Any help appreciated!

Nowt to do with the telephone line, but it does sound goosed. Give 'em a phone and see what they can do. Chances are you'll be charged £65 for someone to come out, but that will cover the cost of a replacement box as well if it does need replacing.

When you say reboot, what do you mean?

Have you done a "Planner Rebuild"?

Its in the system menu, cant remember how to get into it off the top of my head, something like "Services - system/setup, then press 0 then 1 then select. I can do it standing in front of the tv laugh.gif

That basically does a refrag of the hard drive.

Maybe a long shot, but you dont have the Sky+ box in an enclosed space do you? In a cabinet?

If you do then it could be overheating. I guess though that youve probably had it in the same place for ages.

I was a bit worried about that when my HD box started playing up. In the end we had to get an engineer out. He replaced the box but said the ventilation around the box was fine, even though it was getting quite hot.

Dunno how susceptible different boxes are to heat, of course.
