Full Version: Preparing For August Deadline Day
The Pie Shop > Pie and Bovril Notes & Announcements > Pie and Bovril Official Announcements
Div
The last two transfer window deadline days have been the two busiest days on the site in the past year, despite the amount of visits bringing the server to it's knees for large chunks of the day on both occasions.

Although our new server has been super stable now for around 90 days without a single blip I'm still concerned that next Monday could cause problems.

Originally we had intended to prevent guests from viewing the forum on deadline day but I'm going to let it run this time round and see how we get on. I have set up a few jobs on the server to deal with traffic spikes and to be honest I am maybe even expecting this August window to be quieter than recent years.

I will monitor things throughout the day and make changes if and when required to protect the service.

We will also be putting a section of the forum live for a couple of days only, dedicated purely to the transfer window. This will go live on Sunday night and run through to lunchtime Tuesday. This will be a rare chance for fans of all teams in all divisions to talk football - to post up the latest rumours and confirmed transfers and these topics will feed directly into our homepage in a special edition "Window Watch" service.

Hopefully Monday will be exciting and there will be lots going on huh.gif ?

I'm glad someone noticed biggrin.gif

Wasn't as busy as January was right enough, but still our highest number of visits since the last window yesterday.

We had 8,000 absolutely unique visitors to P&B yesterday which is quite impressive. On a normal day we get 6,000 unique people visit the site.

Note the above is absolute unique IP addresses, not just visits, of which we got about 15,000 yesterday, generating 160,000 page views.

So now you know biggrin.gif
