Dundee didn't play well today, but we didn't have to. Morton were woeful and offered nothing in attack.

Neither team were great but Morton would have snatched a draw had big Rab not pulled off another wonder save ..................not bad considering the slating we got when we signed him he is by far the best in this league

got to admit,Irons made a right fanny of himself today....running about like a loony toon,throwing water bottles..etc he even tried to run on the park at one point only to held back from his coaching staff . is he like that every week?????

This slating happened where? Because I never saw it here. The majority of posters seemed to think Douglas would be an excellent signing for you.

I don't think anybody doubted Douglas's ability. Its just that he's a bit of a fud.

Irons was a complete fanny when he was at Gretna last season

I'll start hitting the panic button after the first 9 games. However I'm definately feeling a bit of unease. I'll take a bad start and a decent season after it ahead of the good start and terrible season we had last year.

I've only been to one game this season so far due to circumstances, and that was against St. Johnstone. We seemed to have something to offer in an attacking sense, and Shimmin had a cracking game in defence that day.

All I'm hearing is that we've been shocking since then.

To be fair to SD, I didn't see any of that from anyone with a "valued" opinion.

This thread is about Morton not Rab. If i was a morton fan i maybe annoyed with the team, but not to worried just yet. Like someone said before give it 9 games and if in same position then start worrying.

Perhaps, but that combination of basic defensive errors, flinging away leads and general poor play eerily resembles last season: in a far stronger league too.
We have no full-backs, our one creative midfielder is playing for fecking Alloa and that seems to be our squad for the season.

Off topic but Alloa are bottom right of there league? Anyway i do think if your playing bad the now then maybe the tide will turn and you might start to do well, yeah its maybe hard to find believe in this but you gotta stay positive. If fans dont be positive then players will see this and this i feel is not good.

The players are still allegedly confident of a top half finish (quote multipla Greenock Telegraph all summer long).
It wouldn't do them any harm to be brought down to face the reality of the situation - its a relegation fight and fight is something we presently lack.

(In fairness to Alloa they've had a very difficult fixture list so far: Raith and Ayr ant hoem and Peterhead away included.)

Anyway im glad that im not the only person who is very worried about my team so far. Unlike a few Morton fans I think we have played well in most games but we have nout to show for it so what does it matter.

So we now have severe pessimism on this board from fans of Morton,Airdrie,Ross County,St Johnstone and ourselves...actually gives me a bit more confidence.

Morton cannot go down - its the best away game of the season!!

I always thought Aardvark Greenock Morton was a catchy name.

Look on the bright side - if we do go down, and yourselves and Dundee are still in this league next season, they might not get 12 points from whoever comes up, but they're guaranteed them from us.

Anyway, I'm not panicking just yet, but the early signs aren't good. We need to win at Airdrie - it's hard to see where the first win's going to come from, but when we get it I think we're capable of going on a good run. However, the longer we go without it, the tougher it'll be.

Already it's clear that the squad doesn't have enough depth - we need 2 natural full backs, cover for Finlayson and McAlister out wide, and another centre forward, in that order. We need Weatherson to be kept well away from the defence and freekicks, and be kept in the gym to get in shape - if he was fit he could be a vital player for us, as it is he's not good enough to get a game. Unfortunately, to sign more players, we need to get rid of some - come on McInnes, you don't want Dan Smith, McAnespie can play left back, get it seen to. Punt Stevenson to Alloa permanently in January, and if McGregor ever gets injury free I'd be surprised if no Second Division teams were interested.

If we had a proper youth system, we might have some decent players coming through and not have to worry about squad depth, but no, all we have at youth level that's anywhere near ready for first team football are even more bloody central midfielders.

Lee Mitchell isn't a footballer, never mind a central midfielder.

I don't need an excuse, if I do not like the pricing and am not willing to pay it, I will not go. And that is Dundee's loss because they will not get my money, nor will they get any from hundreds other Morton fans who feel the same.

I wish Morton fans would get real. These delusions of grandeur are quite embarrassing. Morton are historically a team who flit between the third and second tier of Scottish Football, occasionally they'll have the odd season in the 4th flight, or once or twice in 50 years, the top flight.

So this Morton team are doing ok in the grand scheme of things. You'll probably go down this year, but you need to expect and accept this. In a few years you'll come back up and you'll think then that this is the team who can achieve the impossible dream...the SPL. But then the bubble will burst and back down you will go.

You're just not good enough. Never have been, never will be.

This is all deflecting away from our crisis.
