Not meaning to rub salt into the wounds but is there any position in the team, where Morton have strength in depth?
They have two poor goalkeepers
A poor selection of full backs.
McManus and Shimmin look on on paper, but don't seem to be doing it. Greacen and Harding were woeful in stages last year
McAllister's a good player, but that's about it for the wings
Decent strength in central midfield but they have too many similar players.
Just Russell and Wake upfront? I can't think who else is there.
If we sign Reid we have one natural full-back, Walker can cover too but that's not enough.
Goalkeepers are rank.
Yet to have a settled defence - Shimmin has been a stand out so far but he needs to be paired with someone competent; none of the rest have any form of consistency.
McAllister and Finlayson are our only wide options, both do a job but particularly the latter is limited and the delivery is too often awful.
We can drop midfield players all day but we are yet to have a partnership there - hopefully Jenkis will be fully fit and can partner someone, perhaps McGuffie or Paartalu based on their time at Gretna.
Yep, Wake and Russell up front, Weatherson if we were really desperate.
Although of course there's murmurings of a storm brewing...
