Irons has changed the line up, has went through players like a dose of salts and the net result, is well, Morton nil. It should be relevant in that Irons needs to be sacked as the first stage of a recovery - if he is in charge on Saturday we will lose to Clyde and we will be even further behind.

Aye, he's a gimp but a good result here would maybe have given us false hope. We won't sack him and we'll go down.

My thoughts exactly.

Clyde are a perfect oppertunity for the new gaffer to get off to a good start and resurrect the feel good factor. We probably will win that game under Irons, restoring confidence in him for it to disappear just seven days later, having wasted another week of wages on him.

As I said in another thread, he really has no place with us anymore - its so fucking obvious he can't do the job, the statement glows in the dark !

Let's not be too quick to laugh. Remember, we play them on Saturday, and we really are dire.

Let's hope that they have got into a losing habit, and that if we do win on Saturday, we can start to set our sights on the playoff place - AGAIN!

A heated debate took place as to whether a Monet or Picasso would be a fitting addition to the paintings in the boardroom.

Nobody cares.

Atleast it was a bit of entertainment for the travelling fans, since the team are currently unable to provide that.

It might also be a slight clue to the fuckwits in the boardroom, a sign of the state we are actually in - which they are yet to acknowledge.

If anyones to get a fine then it'll be us, I doubt the SFA or anybody really cares anyway.

Yes, despite the situation our chairman likes to leave everything too late, and quite frankly, the senile old c**t probably hasn't noticed how bad a state we're actually in.

Either that or he compares everything with the Hugh Scott era.

Both the chairman and Irons have to share responsibility and get the f**k out.

A subtle bump for this one. Irons must go. Collins must go. Rae should go but never, ever will.
2/3 won't be bad though.
The damage is done and I diagnose the sitation as terminal. We have precious few options until January - we look to be at least 12 behind by then.

Dougie Rae is a doddery old lunatic, but he's invested an absolute shitload of money into Morton. You pay amongst the highest wages in the division and unless you found another sugar daddy, forcing Rae out might not be the best idea

I think it's a stick on that Morton will be relegated, as Irons won't be going anywhere - imagine the size of that golden handshake if he did go ohmy.gif

I doubt they're paying as much as St Johnstone (laugh.gif) and Dundee (laugh.gif) are, but I reckon they will be at least on a par with Dunfermline and will certainly pay more in wages than Thistle who are nowhere near as flush as you seem to think!

Alex Walker, for example, was offered double the wages of which Clyde were offering him this summer, just to stay at Morton. Right there you have an average squad player who is earning upwards of £45k a year

In what way is that certain? When we were bo th in the 2nd Campbell whinged about our MillionsTM and how poor wee Thistle couldn't compete. Unfortunately he missed the fact that Thistle's wage bill was actually over 100k a year higher than our own. Perceptions are illusionary.

If Morton don't beat Clyde, surely Irons has to go? I almost feel sorry for the Morton fans. Their run at the start of this season, is almost as epic as our run with Gerry Collins as manager.

Source? Our financial problems since then have not exactly been kept quiet and one of our directors is personally funding our main summer signings wage so it's not exactly hard to see where the perception comes from. I doubt there is a serious gap in the wages at Thistle and Morton on the whole but if it came down to both teams chasing one player the bottom line is Morton would be able to push the boat out that wee bit further to get him.

I'm pretty damn sure Campbell had an interview at that time trying to compare Thistle's (which I believe he said was in the region of £500k), to Gretna (he claimed £1.2m) to Morton's, which he claimed was in between those two figures. The actual Morton wage bill that year was in the region of £420k.
I'm sue it was in some rag like The Sun, so it may possibly be wrong...

As for pushing the boat out - for me it would vary player to player: when we're in a desperate position like now we will likely try our utmost to bring better players in, but that's not always the case. We're not in the business of any more transfer fees either.
