Here is one of Villa sticking one past the fascistas of Madrid in the supercup last week. The tannoy guy is getting right into it.

I remember when we put the third past United at McD in the cup 2 seasons back i ended up down the fornt of the stand with a bogey on my cheek. To this day i am still not sure if it was mine or the from the numerous strangers i grappled with on the way down the stand.

Whats the most mental you have gone?
Casper Rose
Airdrie v Thistle 2001-02 season, no fucking way was there 7,500 at that game, well more. Our stand was packed to the rafters and I was only about 10 at the time, the buzz I felt when the goal went in was unreal, the atmosphere was unreal and everyone hugging each other in tears when it went in, never had a feeling like it since.
Palmerston_1919
fergusons equaliser against italy was pretty mad, actually thought we were going to do it at that stage.

at club level, the sheer disbelief when big JT bulleted a header into the back of the net against the huns last season was phenomenal.
PTFC27
Marc McCulloch v St. Mirren at Love Street 2001-02, the day we got promoted. Was only 8 at the time but it was sheer joy as he put the header in the back of the net.

More recently Billy Gibson's last minute goal to send us into ET in the play-off final at Peter head. Or Damon Gray against the Huns at Ibrox.
Dunning1874
David McGregor's goal with 2 minutes left against Albion Rovers at Cappielow the season we won the Third Division, I dived over a barrier to hug complete strangers, never have I seen the Cowshed go so mental.

Our second goal at home to Kilmarnock 2 seasons ago was something special too - half of the reason the place went so crazy was out of shock that Templeman could score a goal so immense technically, although coming from behind against a team 2 divisions above you is always superb.
Mon The Clyde
The two injury time goals at Cappilow were fantastic last season.

Special mention to Eddie Malone's goal against Celtic when we thought we just blown it when Boruc saved O'Donnell's penalty.
el bawbag
McFadden in the Parc des Princes!!! Ended up hugging about 50 complete strangers whilst hurtling across our section!

When Billy Gibson's freekick deflected off the arse of some Peterhead defender and ended up in the back of the net in the 93rd minute of the play off final... biggrin.gif

I was in The Barrel (a pub) the night Scotland were away to France. I can remember McFadden shooting and I shouted "for f£ck sake, what a f£cking, YEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!!" I somehow managed to lift ma mate (who was about 11 stone) with ma right arm while holding ma pint in ma left hand! Incredible! Absolutely amazing feeling!

Club level would have probably been McCann's peach I think the fact that Queen of the South were actually going to a semi final after years of poor football and going out in early stages, was just an emotional breakdown, I think ilost my voice and I feel sorry for the guy in front of me as I was jumping up and down with help from his shoulder!

Times like that (when you go crazy at goals) makes the cold night's and the amount of money you spend all worth while!!
Mr Gandosaur
Bobby Linns goal in the league cup quarter against hearts, 1st home game after administration was a bit special. Went a bit scitzo last season when Mcmenamin headed home past Alan Main 4 minutes into injury time against saints after being pegged back twice. Nothing though beats a mad celebration in the shed when Dundee score at Tannadice.
BluebirdTon
A Jason Walker injury time winner found me on the Somerset Park pitch once although Templeman's second against Killie was the most mental i've ever gone without question. What a moment.
EastFootball
There's a few for me...

Nemzadze's winner against ICT in the Scottish Cup semi in 2003.

The derby in 2004 when John Sutton tamely headed the ball through Paul Jarvie's legs 3 minutes from time.

Steven Craig's extra-time winner against Hamilton in the Cup QF replay in 2006.

Kev McDonald and Colin McMenamin's last-minute winners against Saints last season.

I also blacked out at a goal...Gavin Swankie's winner against Saints 2 seasons ago. It was freezing cold with driving rain and I had about 6 layers on, which must have lowered the blood going to my head...so when I jumped up, everything went dark for about 30 seconds. It was surreal.

QosLoyal
my favourite was when J.T scored to pull us level With the huns in the scottish cup final, i couldnt breathe for about 10 mins after! oh and J.T's celebration with his arm aloft screaming "you fucking beauuuutyy was absolutely magical! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
port-ton
Templeman's second against Killie definetely, you cannot beat a combination of shock, excitement and all round euphoria.
robosaintee
There's been a few with Saints over the years:

The first time i remember going mental and understanding the significance of it was the game against Dundee when we got into Europe. Unbelievable.

League cup final equaliser. The huns were still singing and Dasovic rasps one in from 20 yards. I nearly had a heart atack at the age of 10 celebrating that one.

More recent ones are aplenty aswell.

Savo's two against Rangers was brilliant. What an amazing feeling looking at the faces of the daft bigoted huns with sheer dispair in their eyes because they aren't allowed to get beaten at home to a club like us. That whole cup run was amazing, culminating in the Semi against Hibs at a packed Tynecastle which is the best atmosphere of any Saints game i have ever been to.

Honorouble mention to Hamilton last game of the season. Words can't describe that day. I look back on it fondly strangely enough. The fact that we were the centre of attention and it was all going well untill the end.

Also the game we beat Gretna 3-2 at home the same season. Gretna made it 2-2 on about 87th minute or something and Davie Irons goes running up the touchline like a fanny filling me up with dispair and hatred. Then Martin Hardie stepped up and cracked in the winner from 20 yards. My scarf ended up halfway down the stairs and as far as i knew no one even touched it and the guy in fron of me done a very comical celebration in the heat of the moment. Brilliant.

The heady days of supporting Saints. It's all worthwhile you know. No matter how much you moan.

That was truly amazing! thumbup2.gif I was in the front row of the upper tier and thought i was going over at one point! The guy sitting behind us was the coach of the french kids teams that were on the pitch at half time, was dressed in full france tracksuit and was not amused in the slightest at being hugged and thrown about by the big braveheart extra standing next to him biggrin.gif

Thistle wise, anytime against the ugly sisters, last season at ipox was amazing but was brought back down with a bump pretty sharpish. The Gerry Britton show when we beat the huns 3-0 at firhill was good. Wasn't at Peterhead 2nd leg unforunatley but it was crazy enough listneing to it on the radio smile.gif

I once stood up and started banging my hands together. It was the summer of 98, pretty crazy times.

I wept tears of joy when Gray scored at Ibrox, but, as jagtastic says, the euphoria was short lived.

The celebration at Peterhead was something special. I'd spent 80-odd minutes hammering my hands on the advertising hoardings (they were cut and bleeding for a couple of days after it), but it looked as if we were destined to miss out on promotion.

Gibson's goal provoked the most overwhelming release of anxiety and joy I've witnessed first-hand at a football match. I remember turning round and looking up at the stand to see at least one pair of feet where a head should have been.

It's quite embarrassing to think we finished fourth that year and crept into the First via the backdoor, but at that moment I really couldn't care less. Fantastic stuff.
SavotheGreat
Why do some people feel the need to go "mental" at a football match?

Really, after the goal is scored I would just rather every f'cker sat down and let me watch the match in peace.

The one that stands out is Skerla in the 2004 cup final. It was a true feeling of ecstasy.

mine was qos away start of season two year ago, where we scored two goals in injury time,

martin hardies goal created a line of saints players running past the support in a synchronised way

the banging off the sponsor gates was amazing, especially when idid it and my friend got the blame lol

In terms of wild reckless celebration it would be between JT equalising in the cup final and Dobs getting the first in the quarter final. People talk about McCann's goal and it was an astounding emotional rush but in mad celebration terms very much secondary to Dobbie's goal. By the time McCann scored I was already utterly confident we were going to win.

In terms of pure emotion, the only time football has ever reduced me to tears was the final whistle of the Aberdeen semi final. It was the comprehension of the enormity of the achievement.

im just passionate about the st johnstone community, and love to celbrate that we are achieving somthing.

if you want to sit and watch the game,. then sit in the main stand.

id love for everyone to stand all the way through the game like at hampden.
Wild Rover
well as few people have said the mcfadden goal in france , i went to go to bar in bar itza to get drink when he scored i got thrown on my ass then somehow ended up out the front of the pub on the main road with 3 others jumping about going mad and then minute later sat on road with head in my hand as could not beleive it lol !!!

raith celebrations well 18th march 00 at EEP against dunf , we scored 2 goals in a minute i was sittin up back row and somehow ended up down hanging over onto the pitch with tears in my eyes smile.gif D A R G O

and couple years ago when andy smith scored to win us the league at home i ended up lying at someones feet 3 rows in front of me after celebrating n crying with joy haha
StevenC
McAllister v the hibees CIS Cup 2004 definately is the best feeling I've ever had and most mental I've ever gone when celebrating. It felt like forever just going nuts!

Must be said, when Lilley put away the penalty in the semi I went home looking like I'd been in a fight. Can mind someone behind me crowd surfing about 5 rows!

V Hearts final game of first season in the SPL was also pretty mad celebrating at the end when we'd gone into europe. Good highlights of it on STV as well!

I don't believe that you weren't the slightest bit nervous when Dundee's free kick was taken! wink.gif

I went more mental with McCann's goal as it was certain we were going to Hampden, I celebrated at Dobbie's but not as much as there was obviously still the possibility that Dundee would equalise and go on to win.

Agreed!

Also the same season away to east fife. The Hawke's winner.

All the most mental celebrations for us Dees are surely certain to be found in the Derby games, particularly in the shed at the 'dump.

The best one that comes to mind was James Grady's rocket with basically his first touch to win it in the last 10 minutes. United had been the better team for most of the game but couldn't find a way past the brickie. Magic. The whole shed rumbled when it hit the back of the net.

I also believe that was the game that the wee burbury-clad mink came running on to take on Douglas and ended up being firmly rooted onto his arse by the big man! biggrin.gif
RedV
Our equaliser against Dunfermline a couple of years ago is probably only trumped by our winner a couple of minutes later!

Seriously, what an amazing game of football.

The aforementioned one against Thistle in 2002 was right up there too. I almost passed out because I forgot to take a breath whilst screeching at the top of my voice. Probably just the whole thing of denying Thistle victory despite us only having 11 players left in the entire SQUAD and only 6 or 7 fit to play. Thistle didn't beat us at all that season, but that game should really have been beyond us.

For Scotland there have been a good few too, but the one that sticks out is Caldwell's against France. We had been utterly destroyed by France in the 1st half, and it was such a sweet moment when the ball hit the net right in front of us. I'd just had knee surgery a few weeks before and this was my first day off crutches - I totally forgot during the celebrations and spent the rest of the match sitting in agony with my knee-cap wobbling around precariously.

That was a great night. Screamer from Grady! The Shed was rocking for that last 10 minutes.

My favourite was at Dens against the Arabs. They were 2-0 up after about an hour. Eddie Annan scored to make it 2-1. In the last few minutes Darius The Pole headed home to equalize and the Derry went frigging mental..........boys on the fence that segregated the Arab filled Provie Road, on the track, the pitch, everywhere. The best GIRUY I recall seeing against Utd, who moments earlier were giving it the "cheerio" treatment as a few Dees started drifting away.
Dalkeith Dee
The ones that come to mind are:

The two winners against the Saints last season,

Steven Craig's winner against Hamilton in the Scottish Cup at Dens,

Nemsadze against Inverness at Hampden.

But the best by far, was Callum McDonald's opener against Livi in the relegation decider. My Dad and I didn't get in, so we didn't even see the goal go in, but the hill just exploded and we just went crazy where we stood. We hadn't even got to the hill yet, and my Dad was giving it GIRUYs to the stadium. Brilliant, until Livi scored.

A few of us had a similar experience in a game against Thistle at Firhill.

The Viagra Stand behind the goal hadn't been built, so away fans were put in the far end of the Jackie Husband. A good few of us turned up late from the pub, only to find all the gates in the JH stand closed. We walked back round to the exit gates from the old away end and took turns at hammering on said gates to gain the attention of a steward, and attempting to watch the game through a wee gap.

After a few minutes, the away end erupted, leaving 6 pished adult Airdrie fans to dance a jog of sorts on Firhill Street for a good few minutes afterwards. I'm sure anyone watching from the adjacent tenements would have found it entertaining. ph34r.gif

We did eventually get in, but the Maryhill manks equalised in the 2nd half. Boooo!

OYF, I remember that one well! Same season as the Grady one possibly?, under a

I started at a couple of rows down at back of the Derry, under the TV stand and ended up right down at the front in a pile, on my back under a bench! I'll never forget the guy next to me, as I got to my feet, he just kept asking if he was dreaming - couldn't believe it - good times!

One of my many regrets in football is beeing to young at the time to go to away football games.
For the most ive ever celebrated during a Dunfermline game while at it I would say in the 2004 semi final against Inverness (I couldn't make the replay).
I celebrated alot when we scored against Dundee Utd in the dying minutes to keep us up... I was listeninng to it on the radio in my front garden with a mate I had moments earlier said to him "We are going down" and the feeling of utmost sadness i felt...For it to be replaced a whole 5 seconds later when the commentator whent mental. I realised we scored i jumped to my feet turned around and whent head first into my freinds head... that hurt. dry.gif

In recent years...

2003...paul vanoli's og to make it 2-0 against rangers, knowing we'd finally beaten them in the league for the first time in 30 years

2004...Barry Nics goal at Pittodrie v Caley Thistle in the scottish cup semi...the moment we knew we were back in a cup final and europe for the first time since the 60s.

2007...Scott Wilson' injury time winner v Hearts in the scottish cup...we hadn't scored a goal in absolutely ages, hadnt won in ages, so to see the ball go in with the last kick of the game was one of those great moments where you know all the rubbish you put up with is worth it for that one perfect moment, i've still got a slight scar on my leg from banging it against the seats in front during the celebrations.

2007...mcintyre's penalty v hibs in the scottish cup semi at hampden...i really didnt think i'd see us in a cup final or europe again for a long time so to do it again 3 years later was unreal.

But there were only seconds betwen the free kick breaking down and McCann scoring. That was the whole point. We went from what seemed (perhaps irrationally) like an inevitable 1-1 scoreline to 2-0 almost instantly. The sheer joy of that moment, given the high stakes attached to that match, and the added atmosphere of packed terracing made for a real high. For me, the Dobbie goal just heightened the anxiety.

The other obvious one was JT's header. At half-time, the game had seemed utterly beyond us and humiliation was a possibility. To be level within ten miutes was incredible and to be a Queens fan among so many others had un unreal feel to it.

Full-time at the semi was also amazing. It all took a while to sink in and was really quite emotional whan the players came over.

My best Scotland moments have come in pubs - both on Guid Nychburris day. I remember watching the Sweden game in 1990 in Pins (Greens now) and when Mo Johnston scored the penalty to make it two nil late on, the place exploded to the extent that hardly anyone spotted the Swedes getting one back.
The other one was in the Riverside before it went all Hunnish. It was in '96 and when
the ref pointed to the spot in the England game, there was bedlam with pints flying everywhere. Of course, that one had a decent punch-line.

You've got to be joking! That was probably the darkest day in our recent history. Oh, but I've realised your age, and the amount of fans that travelled.... It clearly showed which club should be in the SPL.... but still, a nightmare of a day. Not one to be commemorated.
