copy of an email 'intended' to be sent to sfa:)
________________________________
Hi there.
I am representing the SSML and would like to enquire about how to become affiliated to a football governing body, what is required etc.
In 2007, HibeernianFC who I help to run, along with a few other teams founded the SSML for the purpose of creating a supporters teams league for amature (mostly) Sunday football.
for the last 2 years the member teams have played each othe 2 x per season, with the fixture being agreed at the convenience of each team.
please have a look at the league website www.ssml.co.uk
we are currently coming to the end of our 2nd season and are looking to take the SSML to the next level by forming a committee who will discuss and vote on various issues and hopefully help the league become more professional in it's set up.
What I would like to ask is what requirements would our league need to meet to be accredited by the SAFA and what are the procedures etc.
any help or guidance you could give me would be most appreciated.
Hope to hear from you soon,
kind regards

Can you please learn to spell and use proper punctuation if you're going to be representing our league to an organisation like the SFA? If that's an actual copy of the letter you sent to them they won't even take you seriously, never mind help you out with affilliating us with them.

before you go on can i point out the following requirements for becoming an affiliate member to the safa let alone a league.
£60 membership fees
£40 per club public liability insurance
£95 per club for Personal accident insurance
thats £195 to the safa straight away every season before league set up costs are met.

No offence guys, but if we're ever taking it this seriously, deal me out.

my days are very nearly numbered anyway however i wouldn't be up for putting us in as an affiliate member, we are nowhere near organised and logistically we probably never will be, Think teams wanting to progress should follow bairnficas lead and join the SSFL or an assocaition in there district

I think the 'hi there' greeting is just a
little bit too informal.
I'm with Kulli. It's good for a laugh and a kick around, and you obviously want it to have a competitive edge, but there's no need to take it this seriously.

neither do I, I think clubs who want to progress should as i say find there own association, but it's a huge commitment, there was a thread running on the forum of that site with regards to running costs for a club inc transport to and from games etc, some clubs costs were coming in at 6K a season

This is a non starter as far as this league, and PnBFC in its current guise, is concerned.
The financial reasons and constraints are aplenty in setting up your own SAFA affiliated football club let alone a league itself.
I would suggest that the Hibs guys look into joining a league in Edinburgh themselves.

nah, its not because we/hibs want to be in an affiliated league, i was just wondering what the requirements were for being in one. Thought it may have been a possible aim for the SSML one day but it looks unlikely.
Im sure I can speak for everyone at the Hibs team and say were perfectly happy with the current arrangement ( maybe getting the committe thing organised though).

Glasgow Sunday league- a league like SSML that is a non assocaition league. Have a look what they have done-
ClickyPersonally I still like the non structured SUMMER league that the SSML brings as it suits our team, but I am sure you can get some ideas from them.

arrogant tw@ts
so any team/league who want to play and make use of " their refs" have to affiliate to them, encur their charges etc!!!! with a nation like ours who are allegedely one of the most obese in europe they really aren't helping people get out and excersise are they.
did the sfa pay for these refs to do their badges????????or did they charge them to do them?
surely we can contact other leagues like ours and maybe get a few suggestions.

I play in this league and it could have been a huge problem, and indeed still may become one. Long story short:
Secretary of the local Sunday LEague ALLEGEDLY made a complaint about us using SFA refs. We were then told we'd need to cough up £4000 (entire league) to become affiliated plus all other costs. We kicked up a total stink about it and hopefully its working. Some of the refs have even threatened to resign from the SFA because of this.
Theres some chat and links about it on one of the teams website HERE:
