This was the game when George O'Boyle returned to East End Park, to play there for St Johnstone for the first time after his acrimonious move from Dunfermline to Saints the summer before. It was a great day, as Pars won 3-0.
My memory tells me that O'Boyle was taken off with about 10 minutes left, almost in tears, with saints playing out the game with 10 men as they'd used all their subs. However, speaking about it on Saturday, nobody else seems to remember it like that, with them thinking that he was subbed near the end.
Can anyone with an old Rothmans or Saints programme from that season confirm either way? He definitely did get taken off, and so it should be fairly easy to check either way by simply checking whether or not a sub came on for him in the team lines. Not terribly important really, just one of those things that I'd like to know whether or not my memory is as good as I remember it to be!
