Here is an idea:
There are a lot of arrogant posters on this forum with a lot to say for themselves.
e.g. Dundee, Dunfermline, St Johnstone, Thistle fans saying their team is far better than Morton, Airdrie, Livi etc.
So I have had this idea of a "charity thread", where a poster challenges another poster to a bet for charity.
e.g. I challenge my "mate" Nizzy when I bet him £50 that Thistle finish in the top 3. Nizzy would have to accept my offer of a bet through private mail, and when both posters agree, the bet can be made public. So, say Thistle don't finish in the top 3, I have to donate £50 to a charity of Nizzy's choice. I then have to prove to Nizzy that I have made my promised donation and as a result, he will make my donation public.
The bets can be about anything at all, providing the two posters agree with each other.
If there is any interest in this idea, could the mods please pin this? Cheers.

Cracking idea.
Were I not an employed, thus skint, Greenockian would-be student, I'd get involved right away. I'm sure vikingTON may take me up on something in a few months time.

OK, I'll bet whatever St Johnstone fan comes first that Dundee end up above St Johnstone.
My charity is Plan UK, who will happily look forward to £25 quid.
Any takers?

And my chosen charity would be the SSPCA
C'mon CRM, you were on here last night. Get the pm over and we'll agree on a bet.
Me and Nizzy have agreed to a £50 bet.
If Thistle finish in the top 4, Nizzy will donate £50 to the ms society and if we don't, I will donate £50 to Capability Scotland.

As long as it doesn't degenerate into a slagging match. Pinned threads should really have a relevance to everyone, not a select few who are trading pathetic insults. I'd be inclined to tidy up the thread so that only the relevant posts remain and try and keep it on topic, if that's ok?

That would be fine by me.
I knew some people would use this thread to get in petty digs at me, which is sad really as I though this thread would be a good idea. Cheers Radford.
I think Morton will finish bottom of the league, and thus be automatically relegated to the second division. Any Morton fans willing to bet against me, say, £40 that this wont be the case?

It is a risky bet, but either way, a fantastic charity benefits.
A poor home record is not conductive to avoiding relegation. Survival last season was by the skin of the teeth, but if Morton's home record doesn't improve, then automatic relegation is a real possibility.

Unfortunately I am a poor student who regularly dines on tins of chilli con carne and drinks Tesco Value Lager...often in my caravan...so I cant pledge too much. But im willing to bet £10 with someone that Clyde will NOT finish in the botton two.
Or if a Morton fan wants to be flexible about it I will also bet that we will finish above them.

A truly excellent idea for a thread and one way to get people to put up or shut up. I'm not sure how you prove it, do you need to demand a letter to prove to some people on an internet forum that you really did donate this money?
Regardless, I'm going to spend the next few weeks trying to goad people into bets.
