Ever the Optimist
This is coming from a thread on the Honestpage about playing clubs at more than one ground.

Ayr have played Hamilton Accies competitively at six different grounds. Somerset, Old Douglas Park, New Douglas Park, Cliftonhill, Firhill and Fir Park, and I reckon this must be close to some sort of record.

Can anyones team boast more?

Raith have played Falkirk at 6 grounds

1) Brockville
2) Starks Park
3) Falkirk Stadium
4) Tynecastle
5) Ochilview
6) Celtic Park

There was a similar-ish type thread a while back, although that was about how many "home" grounds teams had had, not who they had played at each ground.

The obvious teams to look for are:
1. Stirling who have had 2 home grounds, 1 season at Ochilview and also played cup games at Alloa, St Johnstone, Falkirk, Shire, Partick and Hampden and possibly others.
2. Hamilton who used Douglas Pk, NDP, Fir Park, Firhill and Cliftonhill;
3. Clydebank, who have had home games at Kilbowie, Boghead, Cappielow and Forthbank,
4. Dumbarton, with home games at Boghead, SHS, Cliftonhill and Kilbowie
5. Clyde with spells at Shawfield, Broadwood, Douglas Park and Firhill

Also think of neutral venues for 2nd Replays in the Scottish Cup - e.g. Brechin v Berwick at Easter Road, Stenhousemuir v Arbroath at Muirton, Berwick v Caley at Methil, St Mirren v Raith at Tynecastle, Airdrie v Clydebank at Firhill etc etc.

And the very unusual venues - e.g. Ayr v St Mirren 72/3 (League Cup) at Dam Park, Ayr v Rangers 72/3 (League Cup) at Rugby Park, Berwick v Killie at Tynecastle, Meadowbank v Ayr at v Tynecastle etc

Best I can come up with is 7 grounds:

Stirling Albion / Clydebank, at 7 grounds:

Kilbowie Park
Boghead
Cappielow
Annfield
Forthbank
Ochilview
Brockville

Stirling Albion / Hamilton at 7 grounds:

Douglas Park
New Douglas Park
Cliftonhill
Fir Park
Firhill
Annfield
Forthbank

Airdrie / Clydebank at 7 grounds

Broomfield
Broadwood
Shyberry
Firhill (Spring Cup)
Kilbowie
Boghead
Cappielow

Dundee United / Aberdeen at 6 grounds:

Pittodrie
Tannadice
Dens
Tynecastle
Easter Road
Hampden

Any advance on 7?

Dundee United also played Aberdeen in America in the sixties as well I think does that count?

Cn you give me details of Hamilton/Stirling at Fir Park. Hamilton never shared with Motherwell and the only reason Ayr played them there was due to Cliftonhill being too small for the league decider in 1997, and also the B+Q final in 1992.

Also with regards to Stirling, according to the stats I have they only ever played clydebank in the cup once when they had the plastic pitch (5R Scottish cup tie in 1990) so they could only have ever played at one neutral venue. Unless there is some other occassion. I don't think Stirling ever groundshared, although I am willing to be corrected on that one. Annfield was shut in 1993 and Forthbank opened in 1993 so I am assuming that they moved straight into forthbank.

Edited to add...Ok I correct myself D'Oh!!! 1992-1993 season

Good shout with the spring cup mind you!!!

Hamilton played Stirling at Motherwell in 1997/8 (March). Cliftonhill's electrics were out of commission so they had no lights. A re-arranged midweek game was played at Fir Park.

Stirling played Clydebank at Brockville in the Scottish Cup in 1979/80 and 1989/90.

Another two with 6 venues are:

Hamilton v Dumbarton (Douglas Pk, NDP, Firhill, Cliftonhill, Boghead and SHS)
St Bernards v East Stirlingshire (Old Logie Green, New Logie Green, Gymnasium, Tynecastle, Firs Park and Merchiston Park). Old and New LG were on different sites, a bit like Bayview and New Bayview.

Annfield closed in 1992 with the last game of the 91/92 season. We played at Ochilview for the next season until the end of April 1993 when Forthbank opened.

What about Falkirk? They obviously had Brockville and New Brockville. But mind they had that season at that shitehole Ochilview, and I'm sure they played 2 pre-season friendlies at Broadwood and New Broomfield. All this in the last decade!
