I have hummed and hawed...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
...but following the events of the past few weeks, I have finally had enough and decided to hand back my season ticket.
I can honestly say that making the decision to hand it back has been one of the hardest decisions of my life.
I am 38 years old and have been regularly attending games with my dad (until 2 years ago when he stopped going through ill health) for the past 34 years.
George Young was was best man at my Great Uncle Archie's wedding and a personal friend of the family for many years. My dad has told many tales of sitting in the directors box at Ibrox as a guest of George because he thought it was right that his great pal was taking the wee man to the games. In short, I was never likely to be anything other than a Rangers supporter, given that background.
I am sure that many of you will have had similar struggles over the past few years and can sympathise, however I have a strong sense that I am either letting my father down in the tradition that he has set before me (to borrow a phrase from another great man...) or upholding the traditions of my club by making a stance against a man who cares not a jot for the same greatness within and around the history of the club that we all love. I still cannot make up my mind which it is, however I have made the decision that I will not return to Ibrox until Murray is no longer in power.
I am furious to find out that the T/O advised that it cannot be cancelled for the next 28 days and they will pro rata any games played in this period and deduct this off my ticket price before refunding, regardless of my attendance or not.
I will present myself in person at the ticket office tomorrow to demand a refund and will not be swayed in this. The fact that the Rangers have an administration backlog within their offices and will take a number of weeks to process my refund is not of my concern. They should not and will not get away with taking my apathy or supposed ignorance of the law for granted. I am due a full refund as no services have as yet been provided and that also applies to the "admin fee" as the ticket is unused, therefore rendering it unenforcable in law until after Satuday's match.
If anyone else has had the same struggle within and come to the same decision, please bear this in mind when dealing with the ticket office.
Today must truly be the most disappointing day of my adult life...
Sorry but...
