If what he says is true and the money made from Cuellar is to be re-invested in the team.

Who would you realistically like to see?

Who do you think Smith will go for?

Wont Cuellar just pay for his summer signings? and since no more money coming in from the CL, Rangers wont have alot of financial muscle i don't think.

Russell Anderson,Lee Wilkie, Gavin Rae and Paul Dickov would be typical wattie signings.

I think we are likely to see the Loovens + Davis deals completed by the middle of this week + one other. Hopefull the one other will be some sort of impact player that can turn a game. Walter + Ally need to work fast to get the new players bedded in for the first match against the scum!!

What we need is a creative midfielder, like Davis or another. We will probably end up signing Loovens, which I don't think we should as we already have Weir, Bougherra, Webster and Broadfoot, also CB is Papac's preferred position. A right winger would be helpful as I don't think Burkey is good enough

I hope the huns now sign Davis as it will be too little too late after Kaunas.

I think we still need a CB as Weir is looks as though he has lost another yard of pace. I concur that we need a right winger but I dont think we will have the funds to purchase a quality one. IMHO we really need to sign a quality attacking midfielder with a bit of flair.

Weir is past it but as I said we have several decent players who can play in that position, we need to strengthen midfield more than anywhere else as we are clearly lacking any flair

I agree we desperately need a creative midfielder but these are my reasons for the need of a new CB:

A) Weir is toooooooo old and although he has great positional sense he wont have the luxury of Cuellar behind him to make up for his lack of pace and none of those players listed are good enough to make up for this.

cool.gif Cuellar had the one thing that all great defenders need and that is the ability to read a game. I cant see Broadfoot or any of the other defenders being in the right place at the right time as often as Cuellar(the jury is out on Bougherra but we havent seen enough of him to make that decision yet!)

C) I think Weir was going to be be phased out by the end of the season by which time we would have a fully fledged Cuellar Bougherra partnership that was rock solid.

These thought are just my opinion.

Given Walter Smiths previous transfer activity I wouldn't be surprised to see Colin Calderwood, Arthur Albiston & David Speedie joining up soon. cool.gif

Given the amount of money he has already spent(22m) and the excuse for a team we have i wouldn't trust him with another penny. mad.gif

What about their wages?

Given that Cuellar was brought in during a time of downsizing (in terms of wages) what would Rangers be able to offer these players long term?
