A few Airdrie fans I know were planning on going to this.
What's the deal with the game?
Is it pay at the door on the night?
Tickets?
Do you need vouchers to get in?
It is a 10,000 stadium, will it be full?
How much is it?
If tix, how many have been sold so far?
etc etc

As far as I am aware it is ticket only. I am not sure if Airdrie will be selling them, so that being the case phoning Queens and getting them posted to you would be the answer.

Well, I've got my ticket - 'phoned up and made sure.
So that means I'm in the home support at New Broom field on 14 August, and in the away support 16 August. How fickle!

Well Queens, what can I say, apart from good luck. Well done for qualifying in the first place, and also all the best for the UEFA cup. You are ambassadors for your country, and I know for a fact you will not act like the Orcs and knuckledraggers from Castle Greyskull. You've already got farther in Europe this year than what the dirty bigots did, which has caused this week at work to be fantastic..........do well for the 'wee teams' guys.

am i correct that tickets are only available up until 6pm at Airdrie tomorrow? Bit of a nightmare, having to make 2 trips to get a ticket or buy one before six and hang about Airdire for 1.5 hours.
Are the phone line tickets avilable through Queens usual ticket number (sorry does this exist) or do we phone Airdrie, distinct lack of info on any Queens site

I`m sure SD can advise but I think the new QOS site had info on this before it crashed (again). I think you can phone QOS and order tickets with the option of picking up at the club shop at Airdrie FC up until 7.15pm. Number for QOS is 01387 254853. Apologies if this is incorrect but worth a phonecall in the morning.

Has the site been down again? Was ok last night when I was on and seems fine now.
You can phone Queens today and pay for tickets over the phone up to 3pm. Those tickets will then be taken to Airdrie for collection (from me I think!) at the club shop.
You can also buy tickets directly from Airdrie today up to 5pm from the main office and for a further hour from the club shop. I don't know whether Airdrie are offering credit card facilities for that purpose or if it's cash only so I don't know if you can do it over the phone with them or not.
It's disappointing that the police haven't allowed sales beyond 6pm. Crowd should be around 4,000ish I think subject to a late surge. At the end of the day, considering our average gate and that it's a midweek game on a work night 80 miles from Dumfries that's pretty decent.

I couldn`t get on to the site around 11 last night. Problem might have been at my end though I suppose. Seems fine this morning.
Enjoy the game SD. Hope you don`t miss the start dealing with the late surge for ticket collection

Just picked up my tix for tonight. LOADS left if anyone wants live footie in torrential rain. I asked for seats as far back as they could give me. Hope they have an army of people forking the pitch as the drainage at Broomfield is bad.

Rain!? It's been glorious sunshine all day in God's county!
Apparently a pitch inspection is planned.

I think it's nothing short of a disgrace. It's clear a few of the locals would've gone along at the last minute, boosting the crowd and giving Queen's a bit of extra support. It's not as though they were going to be swamped with huge crowds. The police in Scotland are a joke.
I'm sure this must have been discussed here before, but I also think it's terrible that the game couldn't have been played at Palmerston. It's good enough and safe enough for substantial crowds domestically (see our quarter-final last season), but not for this competition? The town of Dumfries has been deprived of an historic evening and that's a real shame.

Quite agree - Palmy can host 2000 Dundee fans (with plenty idiots) and 4300 home fans in the Scottish Cup but is not allowed to host 4400 home fans with no away supporters on a Thursday night. UEFA put more people in danger by forcing them to drive to an area with torrential rain instead of standing in a ground with a safety certificate. Are fans more likely to suffer harm in a UEFA cup tie with no away fans?

UEFA just have the rule that you can't use terracing, and quite rightly IMO. It's not some personal attack on QOS.

I never thought it was a personal attack on QOS but I fail to see why it is considered safe for some games and not others.
Radio Scotland were moaning that the Kaunus stadium last week was UEFA approved but the shaking was considerable if 50 people jumped up so is the issue crowd safety or reducing the number of teams eligible for a competition a la ESSPEEELL

The top tier at Celtic Park shakes considerably when people jump up, didn't hear Radio Scotland complaining about that. Different organisations just have different rules. After Hillsborough and Heisel (sp??) UEFA were never going to allow standing at games. Whether it's the Champions League Final or the first round of the UEFA Cup attended by two men and a dog, a rule is a rule.

Not as safe as being seated, put it that way.

So why do our councils issue safety certs for terraces. I noticed that the fans a Std Liege v Liverpool spent a lot of time jumping and standing on their nice safe seats the other night - surely this is more hazardous than jumping on a terrace?

Where did I say they were unsafe?
How many people have died in all-seaters compared to terraces?
Bouncing about on seats never killed anyone, being crushed did.

So you are saying it is ok to bounce on seats but not terraces
Crushing a la Hillsborough was caused by too many people on a terrace with insufficient crash barriers. If terracing was unsafe for humans why does it matter if it is Dundee in a cup game or St Mirren in a league game if the conditions set in a safety cert are fulfilled?

No, I'm saying if folk wan't to bounce around on seats then they can do so, but the only people that will get hurt doing that are the idiots bouncing around, and bouncing around is not going to be life threatening. Again, I never said terracing, in its current form, is particularly unsafe at all. However I do think seating is safer. In games with low attendances I don't think there's any difference but for games with large crowds seating is safer IMO. With seating you can regulate exactly how many people are in a certain area, with terraces you can limit attendances but as people are free to move around and stand anywhere over-crowding in certain areas can still be a problem. Don't really understand your point about St Mirren and Dundee tbh.

What he's saying is that it was OK for an almost full Palmerston to host a QOS v Dundee cup tie last season but it wouldn't be OK for Palmerston to host an SPL game against, for example, St. Mirren despite it being officially safe for it to do so. It's a (justified IMO) dig at the SPL rules regarding stadia.
