Full Version: Quick Season Preview
The Pie Shop > SPL and SFL Football > 1st Division General Chatter

Given that When Saturday Comes have neglected to preview the season ahead for the SFLs, we could do it here instead.

How will you do this season?
I'd settle for mid-table obscurity and an SPL scalp in a cup (Killie away?).

Which teams did you like and dislike last season?
Liked - Partick for not being able to beat us and QoS for their cup final effort.
Disliked - QoS for winning 3 times at Scapa even when playing badly, and Clyde for winning at Scapa despite the worst display of any side we saw all season.

Best moment of last season?
Winning 3-0 at Firhill to stay up (and clear of the play-offs)on goal difference.

Worst moment of last season?
Leading Clyde 1-0 at home with only stoppage time left and then the disbelief and anger at what followed. It all had a silver lining as it lead to a much-needed change of manager.

If your club wasn't in the football business what other business would it be?
I can't think of anything witty, so I'll just say Sweetie Manufacturer.

How will you do this season?

Survival, by the skin of our teeth.

Which teams did you like and dislike last season?

Like: Gretna for going down the pan.
Dislike: Raith as a great number of their fans are delusional fuckwits.

Best moment of last season?

Beating Raith in the play-offs.

Worst moment of last season?

County's injury time winner at Victoria Park, when it looked as though we'd earned a 2-2 draw in an entertaining game.

If your club wasn't in the football business what other business would it be?

Ultra right wing political party, championed by lunatics.

How will you do this season?
Mid-Table. Don't really see us getting much higher than that but we should be comfortable in 5th place or there abouts.

Which teams did you like and dislike last season?

Liked - St Johnstone for their style of football. We were taken apart badly by them on four occasions because of the way they played against us.
Disliked - Partick Thistle for the pumpings they gave us and the Scottish Cup defeat.

Best moment of last season?
Beating Dunfermline 4-0 at EEP. It was solace for the last game we played there which effectively relegated us for the SPL.

Worst moment of last season?
Partick Thistle beating us 4-0 at Almondvale. That was hard to take.

If your club wasn't in the football business what other business would it be?
A company that builds roundabouts?

How will you do this season?

Hopefully win promotion

Which teams did you like and dislike last season?

Like: Stirling, decent fans, stadium and a win 3 times out of 4.
Dislike: Everyone else

Best moment of last season?

Probably beatin Motherwell away, some night.

Worst moment of last season?

Losing out on the title.

If your club wasn't in the football business what other business would it be?

How the f**k could I tell you that?

Not that I'd mind particularly playing badly and winning but I don't think we especially did at Cappielow last season.

The early season 1-0 wasn't a great game granted though I'd say we maybe just about edged it. Morton fans probably think otherwise though. The other two were pretty well deserved and comfortable and we played reasonably well in both of them.

How will you do this season?
I'm fairly confident. Saturday wasn't the greatest of starts but we have the ability, subject to key players remaining fit, to finish top three in this division. A run in one of the two main cups would be nice but given last season's exploits, more than a little greedy! I'd be delighted if we could win a European tie though we certainly haven't been handed an easy one. Realistically, not being hammered and scoring a goal would be acceptable.

Which teams did you like and dislike last season?
Liked - Aberdeen for the magnificent way their supporters behaved towards us post match Scottish Cup semi final. Also Linlithgow Rose for coming down with a large support for the 4th round tie and enjoying their day without any problems. Morton for lying down to us three times at Cappielow wink.gif
Disliked - Some of Dundee's "fans" behaviour at Palmerston in the cup match didn't exactly endear them but otherwise nobody.

Best moment of last season?
Final whistle in the astonishing Scottish Cup Semi Final shades the moment when Jim Thomson equalised in the final itself for me. Honourable third for McCann's 84 yard effort in the quarters. All cup stuff for me last season.

Worst moment of last season?
Erm, unsure.gif . Probably crashing out of the potentially lucrative CIS Cup away to East Fife early season. Going bottom of the league for a week in October wasn't exactly pleasing either.

Radford
How will you do this season?
Still impossible to say. We look far from the finished article and the league is so tight to call, with even Airdrie showing they aren't going to the be pushovers first anticipated. Anything worse than last season will obviously be a failure though.

Which teams did you like and dislike last season?
Not sure any of the teams in our league fit into either category. Didn't like the way St Mirren fans assumed twice they'd only need to turn up to beat us.

Best moment of last season?
Danny McBreen opening the scoring against Rangers at Hampden.

Worst moment of last season?
Was surprising numb when Dundee scored both last minute goals as they weren't exactly undeserved. Also unsurprised when Rangers won a PK against us. Probably the total surrender of our side at NDP towards the end of the season. We'd have been as well wearing red and white hoops that day.

If your club wasn't in the football business what other business would it be?
You could argue already the football is just a side attraction to the function and conference venue that is McDiarmid Park.

I answered it based on club, not "team". Sue me.

I'm pretty certain, having read WSC polls before, that's what it meant anyway.

Jesus, calm down wink.gif

I agree "some" of our fans were terrible that day. As a team howver I don't see us as a dirty side. Which is how I read the question.

How will you do this season?
Promotion is the next step and hopefully we can get their this season. Alex has built a good side this season and if we can get our injuries under control and add some more victories to our great win up at County we'll be in a good position.

Which teams did you like and dislike last season?
Didn't really dislike anyone but there were times during the games against Queens that i wasn't to fond of them. Hopefully we'll get the better of them this season.

Teams i liked? Footballing wise Hamilton were always well organised against us and deserved their league win in the end. For other reasons Queens is always a good trip apart from the football, nice people. St. Johnstone cause of the pies (which i'm hearing are no longer around sad.gif )

Best moment of last season?
McHale's goal at Motherwell to put us 2 up. McMenamin's last minute winner against Saints was great as well.

Worst moment of last season?
Queens game second last day. Knew what was going on at Hamilton, we were playing awful and getting beat and i knew i had a long trip home to come.

If your club wasn't in the football business what other business would it be?

It's the same bunch of lotharios that supply your awful catering at Dens Park. When you come to McDiarmid Park, do us all a favour and completely boycott this shower of numpties and their overpriced, not even edible food so Saints see sense and have to get rid of them.
