Hi there!

Do players who get red-carded on a league match on Saturday can play on Tuesday in the League Cup?

Regards,
D

It depends what they were sent off for.

A straight red for violent conduct then you miss the next match your team plays, regardless of the competition.

If it's two yellows or a straight red for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity in the league match on the Saturday, then the player could play in the cup match on the Tuesday but would be suspended for the league match the following Saturday.

For example QP had Richard Sinclair sent off last weekend in the Challenge Cup at Partick. Because it was two yellows he could play in our next match, which was yesterday's league game against Stranraer. He will, however, be suspended for our next Challenge Cup tie.
