Full Version: Dubious Goal, Offside From A Throw-in
The Pie Shop > SPL and SFL Football > 2nd Division General Chatter
Javier Mascherano
Gritty performance from Brechin today, thought we controlled most of the first half, although Stirling did have their chances. The opener came from a good deep cross from Darren Smith, headed across by King and bundled in by Twigg, who I thought linked well with Diack today.

The equaliser was quite strange. A hopeful attempt from Harty across goal seemed to be cut out by a City defender on the line, which then hit Nelson in the chest and play continued for a further 5 seconds seemingly without an appeal from Stirling's players nor fans, before the linesman decided to award a goal.

Later on, the other linesman and referee showed the standard for this level by giving offside direct from a throw-in where a City player was clean through down the wing.

Darren Smith's winner fairly late on was a beauty, curling it past the Stirling keeper's reach with his right foot.

Think we deserved the win in the end, and a 2-1 scoreline I think was the fair result, even it it did come about in bizarre circumstances.
