How does a player at Cove (Paul Coutts) get a move to Peterborough? Was he scouted? Is he any good?

They scouted him playing for the Scottish Semi-Pro side in Wales at the end of last season and had him down for a few days not long after that. They then took him for a week's trial which led to a deal.

He was freed by Aberdeen two years ago and Cove took him on. He's had a slice of luck with the scouting, but St Johnstone, Ross County, Hamilton, Darlington and Dundee were all looking at him as well.

If he keeps his head down and learns, he could do very well. Needs to beef up a bit, according to Darren Ferguson, but that's not insurmountable.

KingfaetheSooth - I see you're in Hampshire. My team before I moved up here was (still is) Aldershot Town - QoS signed good old "Boris" Barnard from us a few years back, didn't they?

As a Paterborough fan i'll be interested to see how he gets on and I was certainly surprised to see him being offered a deal. He must be up to a decent standard to be joining a team like the Posh seeing as we've got money to burn and have ambitions to be playing Premiership football soon under our relatively new owner.

I always am amazed when people are shocked that they are good players in the Highland League. County recently had Clark Bain on trial from Cove as well. League One has alot of crap players playing in it, and this boy will do well down there.

If he starts the season, I'll let you know. Posh open up the campaign at Southend on Saturday week

Started last night in a 2-0 defeat to Man U
Strong Man U side, there are a couple of pics of him on the Posh website, with the likes of Tevez, Nani and Fletcher

Coutts made his debut coming on in the 82 nd minute in the 5-4 win over Bristol Rovers on September 6th replacing the injured Charlie Lee.
Lee remained out of contention for the rest of the month, but Coutts has kept him on the bench since, starteing all of the last 10 league and 1 JPT cup matches. He has yet to score
The Shadow
Papers are tipping him for call up to Billy Stark's U21 squad this week.
