Does anyone on here have one of these heaps of sh**e?

Anyone had problems connecting wirelessly to it?

Got it all plugged into my pc and is working fine with the super fast broadband. I am now trying to connect the other pc to it wirelessly but have been trying 3 days now with no joy.

Anyone out there able to offer some advice? I would phone up BT but they want to charge me £25 to speak to a technical adviser mad.gif

You need to be more specific on what problems your having. First thing to check with wireless connections is the security. AFAIK, the BT hub will have some security on by default, have you got your PC set up correctly?

Right, as far as I can see the problem is that my computer that i want to connect wirelessly from sees a network but it says its disabled and I can't seem to enable it. Although when i go into the wireless network connections it says no networks detected.

The adaptor is definitely compatible, BT have said so themselves but it just doesn't seem to want to link to the hub.

Its like banging my head against a brick wall, been trying for 3 days now with no luck. I'm usually pretty good with computers aswell.

Have you got Vista or XP?

If you have vista you press the windows logo> click on connect to>Then click on BT Home hub and you just put in the security code.

I just done it 3 days ago

If you have XP then i have no a scooby about it tongue.gif

I have XP. The method you describe above is what was suggested by BT, however when i go to "connect to" it says no wireless networks are recognised blink.gif
Its got me really confused and rather p***ed off.

BT will charge you for support because you require IT support which costs you, as this is an issue with your PC and not the broadband connection itself.

If the wireless connection says disabled, as suggested above if you click start>connect to> and then choose the wireless network it should automatically enable it and be able to search for your router.

Also check wireless zero config is turned on. To check that click on start>run> then type services.msc into the run box, press ok and then scroll down to zero config and check it is turned on.

I am having issues with my wireless connection at the moment but thats because my wireless dongle is fucked.

my wireless works amazing biggrin.gif

what i would suggest is rigging it up via wires to allow ur comp to acknoledge it exists then taking out the wire and click the home hub logo thingy and then follow the steps

easy

Connect wirelessly to my homehub with a laptop & PS3. Never had any problems.

Tis great yet I'm thinking about changing as it's so expensive.

When you try to connect wirelessly, does it say that there are no available networks, or does it say that you are using another program to connect wirelessly? If you've installed any other wireless software, it tends to override the windows one.

For my sins, I work for BT and have installed a fair few of the Hubs a couple of years ago. Generally the wireless works OK.

Bang on, do it with a wire first and then move to wireless

Use the BT CD as a last resort too cos the software is pish

Can't say I've had any problems with my hub and I connect wirelessly.

I did do a check on security and there's a load of stuff in the broadband desk top help. It may be worth checking the hub settings.

If you have SKY and can get their Broadband it's muchly cheap

If not (like me) go for the talktalk package as it's stupidly cheap - I'm paying £16.49/mth and that's my BT line rental, unlimited evening and weekend calls plus unlimited 8Mb broadband

I'm pretty sure I was paying £27.99 for BT broadband alone

My BT hub doesn't seem to like Apple Macs, which is bizarre.

Cheers for the advice mate, and everyone else for that matter.

Used the above advice, found there was still a bit of software from the old network still installed. Got rid of it, got to a point where I was asked for my WEP key and when I typed it in the wireless burst into life.

Happy days biggrin.gif

Mines is shite.

The wireless is completely fucked and I can't be arsed doing anything about it. I've tried on so many occassions but I just never works. So my PS3 is connected via an Ethernet and I don't have a connection for my DS.
