Thanks. Just needed to be sure for booking time off work.
One more quick question. How much will it cost to book an away ticket on Sunday?

QUOTE (EastFootball @ Aug 1 2008, 14:53) *
If Dundee ask for it to be moved, it will be moved.

The only reason it was scheduled for the Sunday is because, at the time the list was revealed, it was already known you would have a game on the Thursday.

Now, there is no need for it to remain on the Sunday, thus if Queens turn down the request, an appeal to the SFL/A would be successful.

No you're right, moving it to the Saturday probably is for the best. If it is a Sunday it will probably cost Queens more to get all the extra police needed to stop the Dundee fans attacking our players, invading the pitch and breaking the advertising hoardings.

hw many tickets do u reckon we'll get?
they have a 10,000 seater stadium

Plenty of tickets.

100 per person I heard.

You must however take a long a ticket stub from the last QOS-Berwick Rangers game for your first 5 and then the ticket stub from the last QOS-Celtic game for any more that you want.

Ah I forgot about the "world revolves around Dundee" principle at work in football legislation. rolleyes.gif

There is absolutely NO guarantee that if Dundee ask for a move then it's a fait accomplis. If we were to strongly object to it and claim we'd already arranged staffing, stewarding, policing, etc on the basis of a confirmed fixture that has no reason NOT to go ahead on its arranged date then I doubt an appeal would be rubber stamped in the way you suggest. Not saying it wouldn't succeed and not saying we'd actually object if Dundee wanted it moved back anyway (I'd imagine the manager would prefer to leave it where it is but from an admin point of view it's probably better for us moved back to the Saturday) but it's not the automatic process you imply. The role of the SFL is not to ask "How high" when Dundee say "Jump".

Unconfirmed at this time. Discussions with representatives of Nordsjaelland will be ongoing no doubt. Hopefully we'll know before Sunday but if need be people can just leave credit card/debit card details or an open cheque.

And a trip to Dingwall, just about the most awkward away fixture beforehand. Maybe they won't move it though. I guess the sides in the Champions league quite often play Saturday / Tuesday.

How about staying up North Saturday and Sunday and flying out to Denmark on Monday - easy laugh.gif

We're getting more than enough tickets for the away leg.

It's going to be about £12 - £13 for an away ticket, depending on exchange rate used, etc.

why is the home tie being played in airdrie instead of the much closer rugby park?

i'd have went along to support queens in killie, but fecked if i'm going to airdrie. would have thought you could have got at least 5 thousand ayrshire footie fans to turn up if it had been at killie to add to the queens fans

Rugby Park isn't "much closer". I guess it probably is in actual mileage terms but in driving time it isn't and Airdrie is much more convenient for Central based Queens fans too.

Your match tickets certainly shouldn't have been promised for today. The tickets haven't arrived with us from Denmark yet so they certainly aren't going to arrive with you today or indeed tomorrow. We have been telling people to look for them at the end of the week which should be fine if the tickets turn up tomorrow or even Thursday.

I hope we are not playing at Airdrie instead of Killie because it is easier for our central belt fans! wink.gif

I imagine the deal was better for us and the fact that AU are not in the SPL and our Chairman knows the AU Chairman well was factor...I'm still not happy about going there and Queens giving money to the stadium owners.

I'd rather we played at Fir Park, slightly closer and the ground has a bit more character than Airdrie's lego built stadium. Although Motherwell's pitch etc may still be an issue.

Yeah me too. I'd rather have played at Firhill or even Broadwood than Airdrie.

I'm sure that a Queens home game played at Killie or Motherwell would have attracted a bigger crowd too.

How many away tickets have been sold so far?

I don't know.

We had sold just over 500 by Tuesday morning. I don't know what was sold Tuesday as I was away at an operations meeting at Airdrie for most of the day. We've never counted since as home tickets have taken over as immediate priority. We probably sold a couple of dozen away tickets in the midst of the home stuff today too.

The away tickets have not yet arrived from Denmark, though they were despatched yesterday so hopefully they'll arrive tomorrow (Thursday) and we can get them out for the weekend, though Thursday will inevitably be much more hectic with home leg tickets and they are more urgent.

Phone orders for home tickets were processed tonight and will go to the post office in the morning so anyone waiting on those will probably not get them until Friday.
Skyline Drifter
QUOTE (Skyline Drifter @ Aug 1 2008, 13:43) *
I guess potentially it could be moved back to the Saturday if both teams wish it. Our manager would probably prefer not to though. An extra day's recovery would help regardless of when the UEFA game is played.

More importantly, if our game IS moved I'd presume they'll have to postpone our trip to Dingwall the Saturday before.

QUOTE (EastFootball @ Aug 1 2008, 14:20) *
Why? Saturday-Tuesday is a normal arrangement.

In addition, Dundee are now within their rights to demand the game be moved to the Saturday. Now, it's only on the Sunday out of convenience as opposed to necessity.

QUOTE (EastFootball @ Aug 1 2008, 14:25) *
Exactly.

So again, it would be down to Ross County being sympathetic to the cause as opposed to their hand being forced by UEFA.

Don't get me wrong, I want to see Queens do well in Europe, but I think the good of the domestic game has to come first.

QUOTE (EastFootball @ Aug 1 2008, 14:41) *
As I said, both of these should now require the consent of Ross County and Dundee respectively, because UEFA's influence over this only extends to times where there's less than 48hrs between a domestic game and a European game, or vice versa.

From a purely selfish viewpoint, I want the Dundee game moved to the Saturday. And to be honest, there's absolutely no need for four full days rest after a game; even UEFA deem two to be sufficient.

QUOTE (Skyline Drifter @ Aug 1 2008, 14:50) *
Well, it won't require the consent of Dundee NOT to move it. It's already scheduled for the Sunday. On the contrary it would require the consent of Dundee to move it back but I'd imagine we won't ask for it. I can't see the league insisting on it either so unless Dundee actually ask for it to be moved back for the benefit of their supporters I'd be surprised if it is. Even if they do ask, if we aren't compelled to do it, I'd be surprised if the manager voluntarily wanted to take a day off his preparation.

I take the point in hindsight about Ross County. There isn't any particular reason why it should have to be moved though it would be convenient for us, especially if the tie is still in the balance. I'm sure we'll ask for it to be postponed so I guess it will be up to the SFL in discussion with County to see what the feeling is. At the end of the day we'll only be handicapping ourselves by having to go back up there midweek (though I guess it might hit their gate receipts a little to have a midweek game instead of a weekend one).

QUOTE (EastFootball @ Aug 1 2008, 14:53) *

And as if by magic, both things come to fruition. wink.gif

The Dundee game has been brought forward to Saturday the 30th after Dundee requested it and we had no objection.

The Ross County game has been postponed to allow us more preparation for the trip to Denmark. It will be rearranged when an appropriate date becomes available. All credit to County for their co-operative attitude.
