Does anyone know if Rab Douglas has actually signed for Dundee? He played for the Dees against Cowdenbeath at the weekend and pulled off a good save. Would be pleased to hear someone confirm that he has actually signed for Dundee.
Haitch
Havent heard - but lets hope he keeps his eyes open for you next season.

Contract with Leicester doesn't finish to the end of the month IIRC.
DeeJay35
He cant sign until after the 31st of July. He is still under contract at leicester till then.
O'Rourke
He will be the best keeper in the league this season, and he will be one of the busiest.

This line that keeps getting peddled out does amuse me. laugh.gif

Why can't he sign? Are Leicester just being awkward because there's sure as Hell no other reason why he can't sign. He has agreed to join Dundee, Leicester want him away, he's even turned out in pre-season fixtures for Dundee. He could sign any time he wants to. I presume the point is he doesn't want to lose a single penny Leicester are due to pay him but I'm sure they could come to an arrangement if they wanted.

If he isn't signing until August 1st he won't be able to play in the Challenge Cup tie which, whilst hardly a crisis issue isn't very convenient either.

I think he'll be on a rather good wage at Leicester and will therefore be taking a massive wage cut to sign for us. My guess is that he's just getting the full value of his contract at Leicester. It looks like Leicester have no intention on coming to an agreement strangely - you'd think they'd just pay him off and be done with it - makes no real difference to them.

It's not really that bad considering we have Ludo available for the Challenge cup game.

Oh, I'm sure you're right. But there's a difference between that scenario and the "he can't sign" line that keeps getting peddled. I'm sure Leicester would be absolutely delighted to let him sign for you (and since he's made it perfectly clear he won't leave early they'd probably pay virtually everything he's due to get him away). He just chooses not to.

The expression should be "he won't sign", not "he can't sign".

Quite right SD. He could sign at any time, however as Mcjimbob pointed out he will be on a good wage down south and is going to see that out till the end so he gets the maximum pay out.

Your correct in saying he'll miss to Challenge Cup game.

Surely he'd only be able to sign a PCA until his contract runs out anyway? Besides, why on earth would he not take money which he is entitled to anyway? That'd just be stupid?

I would think Rab could approach Leicester and terminate his contract. As you say though why would he when he can pick up an extra couple of weeks wages. Skyline was pointing out the fact that our fans always reply that he can't sign, when in fact he could.

It depends, if we're following to the word what we know, then no he can't sign. He's still contracted to them. Skyline is just trying to amuse himself clearly by disagreeing. Besides, who's to say they would give him the release, even though he isn't required.
DeeJay35
Oh ffs sake, I wish I was perfect. I did pass my english at school you know. He cant or wont sign until after the 31st July, who gives a hoot.

I am confident he will be a dundee player this year.

It would mean they wouldn't have to pay him his last few weeks wages, why wouldn't they release him?

Skyline was correct in what he said.

I know SD was right once we went in to details mate, but his use and questioning of the term "can't sign" is completely ridiculous.

He can't sign because he is still contracted to Leicester. Simple as that, if either he or the club asked for a release, I'm sure they'd push it through, but as it stands, he cannot sign until his contract ends.

I don't think it's ridiculous at all. The way some Dundee fans go on (not all of them) Rab Douglas is just chomping at the bit waiting to sign on the dotted line but being prevented by evil Leicester and the laws of the land from doing so until August 1st. It's nonsense. If Rab Douglas wanted to sign for Dundee today he could do. The reason he hasn't is do to with money, pure and simple. Not knocking him for it, I'd do the same. And he's still a great signing for Dundee. I fully accept the Challenge Cup tie is a minor inconvenience.

Sorry, we clearly interpret things differently. I haven't once seen anyone post saying or implying that Rab is "chomping at the bit" to become a Dundee player, and if they have, it's just moronic to think he couldn't get a release.

Secondly Rab couldn't sign for Dundee today as it would take a 1 day process to end his Leicester contract. That's just being picky though.

Like I said though, just IMO that you believe he could just sign like that for us when he quite clearly can't, unless he is a free agent, which he is not.

It's not a major issue for Dundee, He WILL sign for Dundee. I don't see why we are debating when as it's rather irrelevant even if he does miss the Challenge cup game v mighty Alloa.

Doesnt look like it. He has to be registered.

7. Eligibility of Players

Players taking part in the competition must be registered in terms of Scottish Football League rules. No club

shall play, or list as a substitute, any player who, in the same season, has already played or been a named

substitute for another club in the competition.

7.1 It shall be the responsibility of each club participating in the competition to ensure that its players are eligible

to play in any cup match. If a player participates in a cup match, such player being ineligible to play in the cup

match as a result of his suspension by The Scottish Football Association or for any other reason, the club

for which the player participates in the match shall be liable to such penalty as the Management Committee

may decide.

I assume he's already signed the pre-contract agreement?

Awful for Scotland and every team he has ever played for.

Heedless chicken on the goal line and has absolutely no handling ability.

Has no coordination or brains for the game.

He should go back to buildin houses.

awful awful awful awful even at his best for celtic never mind just now.
