perhaps only dundee fans will get excited by this, but im what eduardo galeano would call "a beggar of good football", so i have to bring this up.
Does anyone remember javier artero's goal for dundee against motherwell?
It was trully beautiful, i really could watch it again and again. It was on setanta sports today in some "top ten SPL goals" and was by far the pick of the bunch. Reminded me why i watch football.
The most beautiful goal i've ever seen at almondvale was against hibs when michael hart crossed for quino after a twenty seven pass move or something. With the drums beating the whole time it was incredible to watch this methodical move unfolding in front of you and what a feeling when quino tucked it away.
Sometimes i wish scottish players were more like quino and artero and less like martin hardie!

There is no talk allowed on here of the great footballers Dundee & Livi had at that time.
Remember we all cheated our way to false positions.
We are a disgrace
I'd forgotten all about that goal... Incredible.
All the goals can be seen on the following link:

javier Artero was a brilliant player, shame he had to retire earlier in his career than expected due to MS. That was great goal by a great player.

Some crowd behind that goal too. That was a good day.
Some fucking good goals there, clearly, but it's not a *particularly* awesome selection to be able to pull out from an entire league over an entire decade, is it?
Edited to add: And yeah, Artero was very good.

It's a slightly Old Firm biased list, which is unsurprising given who picked it.
I thought this goal from Steven Naismith against Hibs would have been in it.
What a Goal

Obviously Larsson's goal will win it. I don't see what's so special about to be honest.
How the Beattie goal got in there I'll never know. Decent ball in however if he missed it would be a bad miss.
Would have to be between Hamilton, McCann, McManus

& Artero for me. With probably Hamilton's just shading it.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=apr_kM5DGW4I think that goal is even better than the one that made the shortlist. The cut back from Caniggia is sublime.

Good to see Harry get some recognition; but surely Giorgi's chip against Utd was worthy of inclusion:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhMNWl6lprcA more difficult chip than Larsson's, I'd have thought.
I also recall Giorgi scoring a goal similar to this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDKwa0GR6g0...feature=relatedin an SPL game at Tynecastle.

Artero's goal was pure class, what a day that was. The fact that Giorgis chip against Utd isnt in it is a joke.
And ive no idea why Kancheskis,Beattie and McManus' goals are all there as they are all so similar. The best one is clearly McManus so theres no need for the other 2 to get a mention.
This video of the first season under the Bonettis -
http://www.veoh.com/videos/v10065314hbAtjt4 - really shows what a cracking player Artero was. It used to get on my nerves that he was targeted by certain sections of the crowd who didint appreciate what he brought to the team.

Watching that video, why didnt Caballeros goal against Hibs(second match on vid) get in the top 10? That was a sensational strike.

I prefered Gav Raes 20 yard vazooof effort vs StJ TBH. Pure quality in his technique.

Out of the goals in the Setanta video McManus was my personal favourite, although Artero's was indeed brilliant.
Why wasn't Paolo Vanoli's goal for Dunfermline included though?

McManus's and Kancheskis were fantastic so they deserve recognition there.

Dundee had several players who were better than what Celtic and Rangers had. Unfortunately due to bad injuries and "gelling" problems it never quite worked.
I still blame Jason De Vos.
