Full Version: Threave Rovers Getting Ready For Sfl

Read recently that the threave rovers chairman reported that threave rovers were getting ready off the the park for a possible place in the SFL if a pyramid system was put in place.
Interesting report considering this is the same chairman that withdrew the threave 1st team from the east league a number of years back. Financial problems with traveling costs and wages were given as the reasons although one would have thought a little bit of hard work fundraising would have meant staying in a better league. If threave were finding it hard then fuel prices now are a little higher and everyone knows they are paying players have they a big backer like gretna had or is it a lot of paper talk. The club certainly under the present chairman showed no ambition then so what has changed. Also it would cost the rovers hundreds of pounds every home game with referees doing pitch inspections you only need a shower on a friday moring and the game will probably be called off and the decision made by the groundsman?
A message to the chairman of threave is simple you had the chance years ago when the then committee showed ambition dont try and fool everyone with crap like this nonsense mad.gif

Another scathing attack on a chairman how original cleverboy.

I dont see anything wrong with what Threave are doing, they are simply wanting to better themselves and maybe they are in a better financial situation now than what they were before. Congrats Threave for making a go of it.

Does anyone else notice there seems to be more keyboard gangsters popping up? There are some sad people out there.

Mon the South Chairmen cool.gif

True.

I want the best for the league and it's club's IMO we are mile's behind other leagues in Scotland

Every other senior or junior league has sponsors and i doubt people reading this would want to sponsor this league and i'll be the first to admit i have been out of line on here. But at the end of the day i want to see the best for the league and hopefully one day we can be in line with East Premier league. Another thing we don't do in the league is have a South select team which i think would be a good idea. But the more these people try and bring teams down the longer we'll be in the stone ages compared to other leagues.

But at the end of the day Threave are planning their future and good luck to them.

i agree good luck to them but its the players having sucess on the park that has probably put money in the coffers if they have any. The club dont do enough fund raising they seem to rely on the scottish cup money according to my mole at the club and the chairman of all clubs have to be organisers in various ways in bringing in money they dont have this at threave and by the way the chairman was always against threave being in the east and that is fact not having a go as you put it simply letting the facts be known maybe something to do with being president of the mickey mouse south league

Why have interest on this if the South League is a mickey mouse league as you say? It seems as though you are only on here to have a go at Threave, why cant you discuss football?

I admitted to it, i know what i did.

Ive read into all the leagues in Scotland and our's miles behind the rest i'd like to see a change to that, we don't even have a South select side which IMO i think we should.

But he is singling out Threave's chairman who is only trying to take the club forward.

the same chairman that has held the club back in years ask any of the previous managers including the present coaches and if they are honest they will tell you the same. by the way i actually know the chairman from my time when i played for threave when billy sim was the manager and i happen to get on with very well

To be honest i think 99% of the teams have no ambition and if they had they would work harder on their grounds, facilities and squads instead of being happy turning up match days playing the same old teams all the time. What was wrong with Saints or Threave or any member club in the south getting their act together making themselves a viable club and applying for S.F.L they have their own ground so why not get working and improve them and give it a shot I'm quite sure you'd rather watch your team in the S.F.L than the south so come on south teams give it a go you never know when a place will come up again

I think clubs know their limits and will know all the costs of competing at a higher level and getting their grounds upto scratch. I dont know but i think the best clubs can hope for is a good run in the scottish cup which will give them a bit of money to throw at players for the next season !

yes your maybe right but there's riches out there to be got and the biggest problem the south has just now is the amount of money paid to players by some teams thats prob why some teams are struggling to field a team because not all teams are willing to pay

billy sim left for a (bigger job) Annan lasted 6 months.skin went to QOS.
If at that time threave had not pulled out of East there would not have been a team at CD.
But if you were a player then you took everything that was going, and only thought of yourself
because you were well payed for what you did.If you are not happy with the chairman
dont just rumble your gums do something about it. Or are you just talk.

bill sim was hounded out of threave, by the present chairman this is fact, as for taking money for playing the chairman and his cronies knew what was needed and they simply didnt work hard enough to make sure funds were there. as for just talk no i,m actually with a cub at the moment fundraisng whenever possible.
one final point the chairman of threave over the years made plenty at his pub in cd at the expence of the club so he has been looking after his coffers as well as the players
The Sow's Misery
How much does it cost to run a top club in the SOSL? And how much to run a SOSL team in the EOSL? Just out of interest. As a comparison, to run my team in the English Northern League probably costs the thick end of £50 grand, with admin and wages
