37 year-old Georges Santos who's been recently released from non-league Farsley Celtic is currently on trial at Scumdee.
Santos was one of three Sheffield United players sent off in the notorious Battle of Bramall Lane, a match against his former club West Brom that was abandoned with United down to six players. The match turned truly ugly in the 65th minute, when Georges Santos, whom United had just brought on seconds earlier, was sent off for a two-footed sliding tackle on Andy Johnson. Santos never played for Sheffield United again.
Obviously just the sort of player King-Knuckledragger Rae wants to reflect in his "youthful" and "good footballing" philosophy.

And to be honest I wouldn't expect anything else from a club that employs Alex Rae as chief in command.

Apparently George had a bit of previous with Mr Johnson, and West Brom were his previous club. According to my sources Santos 'got the ball' but being 6' 4'' and 14 stone it looked much worse than it was - a bit like Mr Rae's Champions League incident when he was clearly going for the ball.
My blades source says GS played center midfield for them, is a pretty good passer and that you never got bullied with him in your team.
We have got to do whatever is necessary to get out of this league and I would make no apologies if this means getting down and dirty.
By the way a bit of discussion on the official site this morning - what was the name of the arab butcher, or should I say butchers because if memory serves we well Jason de Vos had a go at him as well, who effectively ended the career of Fabian Cabellero? On of the most naturally gifted players ever to grace the SPL until that terrible tackle.

An ancient crock in the centre of midfield? Yes please. I'm sure we'll all be worried about the prospect of coming up against Dundee if big Jim Lauchlan's playing behind him, too.

Maybe this was the big signing Dangerous Dave was banging on about. A casual browse at this board confirms the majority of Dundee fans that post here are full-blown idiots, so I don't think it's a stretch of the imagination to think Dave would have thought the word 'Celtic' would be enough to get the morons frothing at the mouth.

To be fair most 'commited' players have a few tackles in their careers they wont be proud of when looking back over things. Maybe Alec feels that way about this incident, maybe not - maybe he was, or has convinced himself that, he was going for the ball.
Nobody was seriously injured in the Battle of Bramall Lane - had there been - I wouldn't be joking about it like this.
I have never celebrated a player getting a career threatening injury. Having seen Duffy crocked and Lee Wilkie twice crocked it is nothin to crow about.
I felt sick at Tannadice when Billy McKinlay broke his leg.

For what it's worth I think Dundee, you guys, Thistle, QOS, DAFC, or even Livvy could win this league. Despite what has been said in the 2 Macs we have an incredible strike force, the likes of which we haven't had since the Cobra and the Mongoose (although at 1st Division level) and hey could take us a long way to the title if they stay fit and not suspended.

Albeit only on trial, the question has to be asked whether or not this guy can improve a Dundee team that has lost much of its creativity in going forward. The ability of the defenders themselves being a side issue, are their any good young boys coming through the YTS? And will they get a chance this year?
