I'm pretty sure Bordeaux won the UEFA Cup after progressing from the Intertoto

edit...they lost in the final to Bayern Munich

Then their left wingback (!) Zidane was knackered and flattered to decieve at Euro 96.

Still got a move to Juventus out of it mind.

Bordeaux began their Intertoto Cup campaign with a group-stage match at home to Norrkoping on the 1st of July 1995 (they had a bye in the first round of group games). They then played a total of 20 matches (8 Intertoto, 12 UEFA Cup) on their way to a final defeat 5-1 on aggregate by Bayern Munich, the second leg of which was played on 15th of May 1997.

Three of their players (Zidane; Lizarazu; Dugarry) then participated in France's run to the Euro 1996 Semi-Finals, where they lost 6-5 on penalties to Czech Republic on 26th June 1996.

For these players, the competitive season had been 362 days longs (remember the leap day...), it's little surprise that they finished 16th of 20 in the Ligue1, lost in the Round of 32 in the French Cup (they won the first round), and in the Round of 32 of the League Cup (first match for them).

Well, yes it is quite surprising surely? I don't suppose they played all their league games and domestic cup ties just before those Euros started so I imagine they played them through the season. You would have thought a team good enough to progress to the final of one of Europe's elite trophies might have been good enough to finish above 16th domestically given that the games were played on an ongoing basis. I haven't a clue about the French Cups. Maybe they take them as seriously as the Italians do and field reserve sides.

Did Seville or CSKA Moscow also win it from the Interdiddy Cup? I am sure one of them did.

No. CSKA dropped in from the Champions League groups. Sevilla entered UEFA Cup direct in R1.
