Anyone have any news on where the magical Rocco is now? His time with celtic was up at end of June so he is now a free agent i am led to believe?

I would still love to see him at McD.

Why?

You have Moon, Hardie, Craig, Morris, Millar, Swankie and Sheerin to choose from in midfield. Quinn wouldn't make the bench.

seeing as we have a midfield of Moon, Craig, Morris, Swankie, Sheerin, Weatherstone, Miller and Hardie already, the chances of seeing him at McD are nil...To in and out for me.Always played well against the SPL clubs but in the day to day grind of the first division was often a passenger...
Taylorboy77
Reckon he would be the finishing touch to our side as I personally see no future for Weatherston.
Given the choice - Rocco for me any time.
Also - this will be our last season in Div 1 so he would be ideal in the SPL where he would have so much more time on the ball.

I remember a Celtic fan on some letters page (teletext or 606 probably) a couple of years ago saying that he was going to be joining up with MON for £5 million.

Given he's one of the worse players I've ever seen play in the SPL, it made me laugh. Quite heartily.

Don't remember that, being in hospitality that day. The holding midfielder that day being Jay Shields and Scott McLaughlin being the left back, however.

I have a pet cat who I firmly believe could beat those dafties.

We won't miss him. He was completely over-rated by many Saints fans.

I'll be in the many category then. I'd take him back in a flash and would much rather have him in our squad than playing against us. I think if finances allowed, Del would probably take him back as well as he'd certainly be good enough to play every week and not fall into the fringe category McInnes wants to move away from.
Martins Hardies Love Child
Heard today that Dundee Utd were courting him.

O'Rourke
Could see him at ICT who haven't made any inspirational signings (not that Rocco would fall into that category).

Accie1
Liked him when he played against us but don't see where he would fit in our midfield.

i think that is a bit harsh, i mean a season ago David was playing part time, 3rd division football and it is a big step up to take, i mean the guy is young and has ability and due to poor form in the opening few games, where he was mainly played as a winger rather than as a striker (so also had to adapt to a new role and position) he was dropped and never really got a strong run in the team after, did he?, I'd expect a bit more from him this year as he will have settled and to be fair Owen signed the guy as a longer term signing and not an impact player such as James, Deucher or tht. It will be his make or break season as he has to perform to earn a new deal at the end of the season and he is only one of very few player i can think in the team with great pace. On to rocco i think he has an attitude problem i mean i don't doubt his ability but he just seemed to feel he was too good for this league and only performed when there was a lot of media attention to highlight him. I wouldn't expect to see him back and i dont actually think we need him really.
SaintSam
I liked Rocco. I think we should sign him. What's another midfielder...

Not unless he's improved a huge, huge amount since he played for us. He was way out of his depth in the SPL.

Are you going to include Motherwell in your sig or is it just the teams you dislike and have been in admin that get a mention?

As for Rocco, he scored 3 good goals against us so I can't imagine how he would be as bad as some fans in this thread are describing.
Johnstoun
If we hadn't got Morris on board I imagine we would have tried for him, but is hard to justify another centre mid, when it is our strongest area already. I would still like him back though!
scaregowrie Saint
Is there not a midfield trialist still in the running ?
If so then Del must surely feel there is space in the squad. At his age Rocco would be a sound investment for the future even if it was just to turn a few coins on a future transfer. I've got no doubt that he has a lot more to offer than we saw in his loan spell and maybe a full contract would prove to be a spur to the lad himself.
Bring him in on a two year contract and let see what happens

I thought that rocco was a great player - although he didnt fit into our squad, he was good for going up the wing and crossing it in, but i think we could use morris as our play maker now,

some people are screaming to let rocco back, what about fillipe morrais? he was amazing with us, apart from getting two silly yellow cards agaisnt gretna, he played so well with great motivation with us!

Morais struggled to even make it into the starting XI, i can remember him having 2 good games( vs Hibs and one game at home, think it was QOS).
Owen Coyle deciding against re-signing him and tells the whole story. He didn't fit into the team at all.
Fife Saint
Rocco Shmocco. Didn't do it enough although i'm not saying he wasn't talented. I think he will trade off the Celtic name and end up down south.

He scored a peach in the first game at McD. Other than that, he was garbage when facing Thistle. In saying that, I was at the Challenge Cup Final and he was on fire for the first half an hour. Maybe that was his problem, he just couldn't turn it on for 90 minutes. I'm sure the St Johnstone fans will be quick to tell me if this wasn't the case, though.

Oh, and his antics in the St Johnstone/Queens game at McDiarmid were laughable.

Rocco did some excellent things in his spells in Perth. His goals at Livingston and St Mirren spring to mind but there were too many games when you went home trying to remember anything good about his performance. He was totally overshadowed by Liam Craig in the last 3 or 4 months of the season.
Radford
Rocco played for Celtic against Livingston yesterday, so they've either retained his registration, his contract hasn't expired yet, or he's actually been offered and signed a new deal.
