LOL That is a funny name for a football team. What have they been up to?
Neilly
Let's face it they would have wiped the floor with Hearts as well.

Stenhousemuir would've battled out a score draw with them, I reckon.

A shame indeed 2-0, No Scottish team would have been ready, why did Hibs not ask the SPl to start 3 weeks early?

It's okay, they were really only using it as a pre-season game, what with it being well placed at a time when no-one else is playing pre-season games.

Just as well a team like Hearts are too good for this competition, although hang about didn't Hearts want to enter but of they couldn't get in because they were even shitter then Hibs. Supporting Hibs can be depressing, but f**k knows how bad it must be for Hearts. At least you can have high points to your season like us getting beaten in the Intertoto.

My bad I thought it was between ourselves, Falkirk and Hearts. I'm not bothered at all about being out of the Intertoto, obviously I'm not too happy at how shite Hibs are but that's not exactly a breaking news exclusive.

Aberdeen, Celtic, Dundee Utd, Falkirk, Hamilton, Hibs, ICT, Killie, Motherwell, Rangers, St Mirren and probably a couple of lower league clubs in the cup.

What, you mean 3 days before a lot of teams start their pre-season schedule is a time when no-one else is playing pre-season games?
HibeeJibee
Hibs went into this game treating it as a friendly. The players played it like a friendly, their work ethic was like a friendly, and 1-0 and 2-0 down, they were frankly uninterested in equalising IMO.

That said, Elfsborg played in 3rd gear. In 5th gear, they would have beaten any SPL side today.

It's okay, they're only treating them as friendlies. Because actual friendlies are difficult to arrange.
HibeeJibee
Firstly, Hibs have wone 3 matches previously in the Intertoto Cup. (Home and away v Dinaburg, home v Odense). Secondly - having been at the game, I can assure you - the players treated it as a friendly. For all the talk, and the managers efforts, the players were generally uninterested.

When you consider that Hibs have had no preparation whatsoever, and Elfsborg are 12 games into their season, it's not all that surprising.

It would be interesting to see what would have happened to Hearts, who would obviously have been well prepared.

Yeah, it's just a pre-season frie...oh, hang on, it isn't! No, wait, it is! If Hivs were serious about this, they should've prepared for it properly. If not, why not, er, play an actual friendly?

Obviously we'd have been well prepared, Lithuania's season is in full flow.

PS, what's with all the wee laddie "Communist" Morton fans on here? Do you sit in a corner with vikingTON at parties and talk about politics to try and get the birds?

Let me explain this simply to you.

Hibs decided they'd rather play a few meaningful matches in pre-season so 2 competitive games against fairly sharp Swedish opposition is better than playing Brechin and the Binos as we did last year.
We were beaten by a match fit and sharper team at the weekend. Getting the runaround, probably twice, from Elfsborg will be a good wake up call. Get over it, because we have.

And seriously, 'Hivs', WTF? That sort of banter is about as tasteless as your pictorial obsession with Dean Shiels having one eye.
Grow up FFS.

Put it another way: given a choice between a pre-season campaign including 2 competitive ties v one of the best teams in Sweden; Barcelona; Wigan; and Middlesborough... I'd take that any day over Hearts, who are testing and preparing themselves against such luminaries as Glentoran, Dunfermline, Wehen Wiessbaden and Hull - with only Kaiserslautren representing a quality outfit...

So you consider Kaiserslautern to be better than Hull?

Even though Kaiserslautern only escaped relegation from the German second division on the final day of last season, while Hull were promoted to the Premiership.

I bet you're glad you didn't play Brechin this pre-season. And get beat. 1-0. Last night. laugh.gif

Elfsborg are a decent side with some Swedish internationals and at this stage I think most clubs in Scotland would have found it tough against them. You never know though we could pull it back and I for one can't wait for Sweden cool.gif

Yeah, you're clearly "over it". Hence the big, long post about it. It doesn't bother you at all, oh no, not you, no sirree, no way Jose.

Nice to see that you're admitting that the games were indeed competitive, though.

By the way, if you're going to get on your high horse and tell me to grow up, it probably isn't the greatest of ideas to use terms such as "window licker" - as you did earlier in this thread.

So they were competitive, then? Thought they were friendlies a few posts ago? laugh.gif

As for the ridiculous rest of your post, Hull have just been promoted to the Premiership, Wigan have just avoided relegation from the Premiership. We played Barcelona last season and, um, wasn't it the Hivs fans who were going on about it being a meaningless friendly of little value (which, indeed, it was)?

In any case, since when did who the calibre of opposition faced in pre-season have any impact on how any team went on to do?

Yeah, you can tell that you really aren't bothered by this at all. You certainly don't seem raging or anything.

I suppose that it's fair enough that you're taking defeat so badly. You probably .didn't have to put up with so much of it when you supported Rangers.
Frank Booth
It was good to see Elfsborg open their scoring account on Scottish soil.

On their only previous visit to our shores they were trying to overcome a 2-1 home loss in the first leg and, since they failed to score in the away leg, they were gubbed.

Must've been a great time for Scottish football when our sides were able to beat sides with Swedish internationals who are one of the best sides in the Swedish league, don'tchaknow.
