Depopulation put paid to the real glory days of clubs like Ashfield, Petershill, Bens and the Ants. The Springburn area and Govan lost a lot of housing in the 50s/60s.

Bens had a wee resurgence in the late 1990s but there is no longer anyone putting money into the club. Maryhill's Freddy Duda has cut the 'on tap' cash supply to them in a bid to bring about a degree of self-reliance but the consequences have been both dramatic and conspicuous.
Pure Mince
Armadale Thistle in the bottom league this season having been relegated last year.

In truth, they've been S***e for a few years, but seemed to have changed it around over last couple of years when it looked good.

Unfortunately for them it went tits up last year and they're back in with the rest of the dross!!!! laugh.gif laugh.gif

They had a nightmare with injuries the last 2 season which realy hit them hard. Think they have lost a few players this year.

Wasnt so long ago Shettleston were playing in the Premier Division. In 2001,they got to Scottish Cup semi-finals - beaten by Carnoustie Panmure at Dens Park - and won a cup.Coached by Tommy Coyne, who was then dismissed by Hugh Kelly.Have been in freefall ever since. Now going into a third season in the Central District Second Division. If Town look over to Tollcross, they'll see Vale of Clyde won a title under former boss Dennis Curran, who was also put out the door at Greenfield Park, and replacement Gerry McGregor got the Tin Pail promotion from the Super First Division last season.

Agree with previous comments, lack of finance hasnt helped the likes of Benburb,St Anthony and Maryhill in recent seasons.
