what do the highland league think about having a game at the end of the season between the winner of the HL and the EOSL to crown the top senior team of the year?

Would be great to start working towards this ever elusive pyramid system.

Would it work?

I would prefer something more inclusive to all clubs. When replacing the Qualifying Cup with the Challenge Cup it would have been a good opportunity to make it national and do away with the north/south divide to give the country a national senior non-league cup competition.

Even something like the johnstones paint trphy then - regional draw with the best 8 teams from each league - would be good to have 16 but HL would need to find one more.

I think in the future that would be great - but why dont we push for something like this 1 off game for this season just to ensure the ball starts rolling now - lets see how much of a good thing it is, and if so then lets push it on for the season after.

Just a thought - id love a wee trip to Buckie, Lossie, Cove or Huntly at the end of the season!!

Wasn't something similar tried a few years back with Cove & Huntly being the only teams who bothered to turn up - everyone else pulled out

I believe there was something tried.

But we could try it again this season. Anyone know how I would go about making it as a suggestion to the HL grand masters?

But if teams weren't interested then, why would they be now?

As for suggesting anything to the suits at the HFL... laugh.gif

It was poorly thought out, poorly organised, poorly scheduled and poorly marketed.

With the right approach something could easily work. Look at the success of the Scottish Junior Cup to see that a national competition at this level could be something successful.
