Hello Arbroath fans, it would appear one of your former players, a chap by the name of Savage, may well have signed for my club, Stranraer. Do any of you have opinions on what kind of player he is please? Thanks awfully.

Hmmm Lets put it this way, i think if he and others of his standard sign for the 'Raer you may well be fighting Queens for the relegation play-off spot. Savage is well named........he is at best an average Div 3 player.

I suppose that's just assuming that Arbroath finish in the automatic relegation place?

I knew 36nils comments would cause a Arbroath , QP , Stranraer argument about who will finish bottom

1320lichtie must have great vision, as I can't find it either.

Savage is murder, but still a legend for chinning David Niven which was deserved for crimes against James Bond.

Now, if he can only find a player called George Lazenby.........

Maybe you're seeing the future...

Savage looked decidedly average during his spell at Gayfield. However, when he moved on to the 'Shire - admittedly I only saw him when they played against Arbroath - he looked to be a pretty decent front man: held the ball up well, had a run at defenders and seemed to be a useful player.

Evidently, he also possesses a top-notch right hook (used only in self-defence, obviously).

Going on his performances against us last season he'd do a job. Wouldn't take him now though we have four/five signed strikers and three very promosing strikers in our reserves one that has been doing pre-season with the first team and the other two have allready had a taste of first team football.

An argument? No argument! Arbroath will stay up. No argument in that is there! ohmy.gif

Imho the two teams fighting it out for the rele p-o spot will be Queens & 'Raer. I maybe wrong but i am the prediction champion, twice in the last three seasons rolleyes.gif cool.gif

Ayr for the league and Raith, East Fife and Stirling for the promo p-o spots!

I thought he had already signed for Montrose.

He's a capable enough front player. causes trouble in the air and can hold it up well - looked fairly good for Shire last season. But, like a lot of similar `strikers', he doesn't have a great strike rate. Would ` do a job' but not necessarily the job of scoring many goals.

Think if he did come to Stranraer he would be more used as the grafter with Michael Mullen the out and out goal scorer, he's been around long enough that if you sign him you know what you get.
Ithink the Montrose deal has hit snags but not a stick on for Stranraer yet either.

We never saw much of him when he played for us, he was only ever brought on when we were 1-0 up and defending, so he never really had a chance to show what he could do for us. Still, I actually thought that if he had been given a chance, then he could have gone on to be a good player for us.

Good self defence skills though!

You would.

The man's a hero! Windmilled his way into my heart.
