I've got two users that have access to the same mailbox on an Exchange server. Both have relevent permissions assigned for full access in terms of viewing the mailbox and both have been given permission to "send on behalf of".

Here's the snag though, when both users actually send on behalf of, the recipient "from" field shows two different things. For one user, it displays the "from" field as this: <Mailbox Name <mailto:mailbox@domain.co.uk>> whereas when the other user sends, the "from" field displays "<Username<mailto:username@domain.co.uk>> Sent on Behalf of <Mailbox>"

The mailbox in question is a generic mailbox that we give out to people we don't really want to talk to and as such, we don't really want the user having their name displayed on the email at all. I can't see any differences between the mailbox's or permissions. Has anyone got any idea's about how to remove the username and email address from the "from" field and just have the name of the mailbox?

Is the idea of 'Send of Behalf Of' not for it to say in the from field 'jay_7 on behalf of address@domain.com'?

If you want them to send but for their name not to show would it not be 'Send As' permission you would assign them?

I see... That's rather confusing as the other user has been added to the send on behalf of list on the mailbox properties. Send as permissions are already in place for both users.

I have removed both users from the send on behalf of list in the hope that when the exchange cache refreshes, the send as permission takes over.

Cheers though.

Are you certain both users selected the option to 'send on behalf'? Sounds like one may have sent as and one on behalf of?

What you have done sounds like a good idea for testing it though. Let me know how you get one, I am far from an expert on Exchange and would be interested in your outcome.

Removing the user from the Send on Behalf of list has done the trick. Cheers matey.
