I dont know if theres another thread for this but I cant find it.

Is anyone a fan? There is a huge fight on Setanta on Saturday night with Forrest Griffin vs Quinton Jackson for the Light Heavyweight Championship.

Dunno if this is what I would call a huge match up. Forrest is a gutsy fighter but just lacks that little bit of extra class to push him to the next level, whereas Rampage is talented but questions remain over his long term mentality and his desire to stay in the grappling game. Should make an interesting fight though and if Forrest can take it to the late rounds then stands every chance of stealing a win.
Sir Kevin Of Kilsyth
Im sayin its a huge match up based on the Ratings for the Ultimate Fighter this year with both of them as head coaches. Im sure that people will want to see this fight.

Im tipping Forrest for the win. I think he can be a bit naive at times going in all guns blazing but he was excellent against Mauricio Rua and I think he has improved enough to be able to beat Jackson.

The upcoming fight I am looking forward to the most is George St Pierre vs Jon Fitch for the Welterweight title in August. Fitch is on I think an 11 fight UFC winning streak and poses a real threat to the belt. That will be an excellent bout imo.

I usually watch the main ones, what number is it on now? 86? Ive lost track unsure.gif . Anyway, i may watch that if im round my mums house as she has Setanta but my dad doesnt sad.gif

Aye youre right enough- 86. Its on live Saturday night/Sunday morning at 3am but is repeated on Sunday night at 10 which is more reasonable.
Jambo Stu
Im a big fan of Anderson Silva. The guy is a machine. Won every UFC fight he has been in, in 2 rounds or less.

I see he is moving up to fight a light heavyweight next. Easy wink.gif
saintslad
Im going for Rampage i think he is goin to destroy forrest in 2 rounds easy.

I agree with Jambo Stu Anderson Silva is awesome definately one of the best fighters in the world cant wait for him and Bisping to square up cool.gif
Sir Kevin Of Kilsyth
A Silva-Bisping fight would be amazing to watch and surely with the run Bisping has been on since moving to Middleweight it has to happen soon.

Interestingly though Silva is fighting James Irwin in a Light Heavyweight match on the 17th of this month.

I just finished watching the latest Ultimate Fighter at the start of this week, so I am looking forward to saturdays main event. I like Forrest, but think Rampage will have a somewhat easier fight and win.

Also, as much as I hated CB Dolloway during the Ultimate Fighter, he really should have beat Amir Sadollah, but to tap out to the same submission twice in a row to the same fighter was a bit of a letdown for me.
Sir Kevin Of Kilsyth
Josh Koscheck vs Chris Lytle was an enjoyable fight with loads of blood but apart from that this card is boring the arse off of me. The main event is just about to start and better be good.
Sir Kevin Of Kilsyth
What a fucking fight! Completely made up for a mediocre undercard. A 5 round war.

Mr Kilsyth calls it right - your new Light Heavyweight Champion of the World is Forrest Griffin!

Yea, that cut was nasty, im surprised the ref never stopped the fight. It looked like he was pouring pints out of his face. laugh.gif I also enjoyed the Stevenso fight as he got a great gillotine choke on the guy who took him down to the ground.

Great fight! Griffin fucked up jacksons leg and i think that helped him alot. It was basically a boxing match, but a fucking good one at that. biggrin.gif
DarkBlue62
Also, is Jackson not sponsered or anything as he never had a banner like everyone else? huh.gif
Mo Wonderboy
Talking about sponsors. Noticed on the undercard one fighter with condom depot across his ass.

I thought that Koscheck v Lytle was nowhere near as entertaining as it could have been. Koscheck laying on him for 3 rounds. Loved watching Tyson Griffin he really is maturing into a very exciting fighter, and a title match with BJ will lead to a stern test of BJ's vastly improved stand up.
Sir Kevin Of Kilsyth
Tyson Griffin done really well dominating his fight as his opponent who was 4 inches taller and had a superior reach. I think he could be a contender soon.

Maybe I was a bit harsh on the undercard. I think I was just getting restless because it was so late.

Bloody hell there is alot of condoms on here laugh.gif . What a weird sponser for fighters laugh.gif

Just watched 87 and by fuck Lesnar is for real. I had my doubts after his first fight but I don't think I have been this impressed by a fighter since the first time I saw Fedor. GSP was as awesome as usual but props to Fitch for hanging with him. Florian was also a shock performer last night. The whole card shown was excellent so may have to watch the prelims but would reccommend everyone to watch it.
DJP
Not a massive fan of UFC but went to watch a match when in Vegas. Until I found out tickets were $300 (£150). At which point I choked on my cornflakes and opted against laugh.gif

Lesnar is the f***ing man. His post match promo/heel turn was absolutely class and he knows how to make money. He is worth far more to UFC as a heel than as a regular fighter and I genuinly believe that people will eventually pay big money to see Lesnar lose.

Overall it was a fantastic show, every fight was awesome apart from the Kongo fight. Another dominating display from GSP, Kenflo looking great and Rob Emerson knocking Manny the f*** out after 12 seconds.
G_Man1985
Kongo the guy is a monster. Was a good win for him. The viking was terrible. I watched this live last night. Was well worth it. Up until 6am though. Very tiring. Fuerta did well. His background as a child is very sad
Mo Wonderboy
Where next for Lesnar? Can't see them giving him Big Nog yet, however struggling to think of other viable options. BJ and GSP? I know BJ wants to create a legacy and all that but he should stick to cementing his place at the top of his own food chain, despite the fact he is probably my favourite fighter and one of the most naturally talented martial artists around he doesn't seem natural at 170.

Kongo is far from a monster, he got his ass kicked by Herring and is just an above average heavyweight.

I think they will give Lesnar a fight with Kongo next. It is a fairly safe fight as Kongo has no takedown defense and it will essentially be the Herring fight again. After that I think they will give him Werdum, before looking towards a match with the winner of the Mir/Nogeuria fight. The one fight I really want to see is Fedor v Brock in about a year and a half, as I think that would be an awesome fight.
Mo Wonderboy
Just a shame that Tim Sylvia has gone or else it would have been great to watch Lesnar murder him in the octagon. Fedor would still defeat Lesnar due to his BJJ skills being slick and Lesnar still being naive leaving loose limbs.

Oh no doubt Fedor would kill Lesnar right now. I am talking about a year or so down the line. Also Fedor's BJJ is not that great, he is much better at ground and pound and striking tbh.

Sylvia v Brock would have been interesting, but ultimately I think it would be similar to the Herring fight. A guy who is going to beat Brock is either gotta have amazing takedown defense or great submission skills.

I am not saying Fedors BJJ is top class just when being offensive he seems a lot slicker, his defense imo is not that good. Everybody worth their salt in MMA knows about Fedors strikes from all positions just stating that it's the BJJ that would come into effect against Lesnar as the takedown will regularly be used. Like you said though a year down the line who knows. Lesnars development has been outstanding and with another year could really lay claim to being the heavyweight divisions top dog. Just wondering if they will maybe feed him a chump then allow him the Mir rematch to avenge the loss and then go for the gold (obviously on the understanding that Nog retains).

I think he will fight Mark Coleman next. That was who he was supposed to be fighting at first before he got injured and Herring took his place. Its a great fight for Lesnar if it happens. Its one that he will probably win easily yet its against a former champion and a UFC Hall Of Famer. Im hoping that Frank Mir takes the title off of Nog in a few months (although it is unlikely) and a Lesnar/Mir rematch for the title would be huge.

GSP was excellent and it would be a mouthwatering fight with BJ Penn. If Penns moving up though he should relinquish that belt because Kenny Florian deserves a crack at it.

I don't think he will be fighting Coleman, as he has Shogun in his next fight and after Shogun kills him there is nothing to gain out of putting him in against Lesnar.

I finally got to see UFC87 last night, after my Setanta went tits up on Saturday at about 2am....fucking waste of time and money and the c***s want to up the price too????

Lesnar was good, he's a beast.

GSP deserved his win obviously, but I just can't take to the guy...dunno what it is but I always hope he gets his head kicked in.

I had similar issues in that my V+ Box didn't record either the Countdown Show or the event on Saturday night for some strange reason. Still it was worth the wait for the later shwoing.

Dana White just announced that on November 15th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas it will be UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar. It will be a five-round fight for the title, and the winner will face the winner of December's Antonio Nogueira vs. Frank Mir Interim Title fight.

Exciting stuff. ohmy.gif smile.gif
Sir Kevin Of Kilsyth
If that is true then that will be a fantastic fight and possibly the biggest drawing one in UFC History.

Onto matters at hand then. Chuck Liddell will face the unbeaten Rasheed Evans in the early hours of Sunday morning with the winner being guaranteed a crack at the Light Heavyweight title. Most of Evans fights bore me so I hope Liddell wins and moves onto what will be a cracking standup war with Forrest Griffin.
Mo Wonderboy
Looking forward to the Jason Lambert v Jason MacDonald fight and the Tavares v Pellegrino bout. Both have potential to be exciting fights and as always with MacDonald fights we almost always get a finish.
Sir Kevin Of Kilsyth
Jason McDonald fights generally do make for compulsive viewing.

Another fight at the event is Rich Franklin moving back up to 205 for the first time in several years taking on Matt Hamill. I reckon Hamill will win this. He is a clever fighter and his ground game is outstanding. I am of the opinion that he should have got the decision against Bisping a few months back. Franklins confidence must be at a low ebb as well after the pummelings he recieved off of The Spider.

What a KO from Evans! Was that the exclamation mark on Chucks time?

I think it might have been. He is 38 now and he has a long road ahead of him in he wants to get back into Light Heavyweight contention. Maybe a move up to Heavyweight would be the best option for him at this stage of his career - worked for Randy.

Btw in my opinion Randy would beat Fedor. Only my opinion.

It will be a huge drawing fight, even though the hardcores are all 'offended' about Brock getting the shot. Nevermind the fact that both fighters strength is their wrestling and Brock is a FAR superior wrestler than Randy...

It is very good. You get the Wrestling Oberver Newsletter (written by Dave Meltzer), the Figure Four Newsletter (written by Bryan Alvarez), the most f***ed up board in the world and around 20 radioshows a week. It costs $9.99 a month (around £5.50) and it is well worth it imo. I used to pay a lot more than that for the Observer alone!!!
Sir Kevin Of Kilsyth
Randy Cotoure really is super human. Im not too worried about the stats,I think he is the best in the game and will give Brock a pounding.

Btw I think I heard that Fedor had a falling out with the promotion he works for (name slips me) so maybe he will be UFC bound some day soon.
