You guys going to be able to accrue a team together to make a game in the Livi area Vs us on this date at all?

Are people available for that date? I'll be in Ireland so I'm out but can we get a team together?

I'd probably miss the first half cause of work. There's a good possibility I'm in full day though.

Back to topic in fact this will be the only saturday I can make, our pre season starts on the 19th so i'll be back to normal duty every saturday thereafter

I'm out that day as well - going down south for our pre-season tour. Can't see us being able to play this game on a Saturday.

Midweek is an option I think. Would mean there's no mad rush to get it played.

Why do they insist on playing it on a Saturday again?

I think Saturdays are better for them cos they have work commitments on a Sunday. Apparently last season it was agreed that they'd play our home game on a Sunday and we'd play them on a Saturday. I don't know that this has been "agreed" for this season but obviously if we could make a Saturday then we might as well.

If we could get a midweek instead though that would be fine IMO.

I'd be fine for a midweek game, and I have the car back as of Sunday night too so would be able to drag bodies through. With myself, Stu and maybe Johnny all driving, it shouldn't be too difficult to pull a team together I'd think?

Pity, but we'll just look for other opposition on this date. We bit of apathy towards this date it seems. Seeing as only 10 folk have posted intentions.

Midweeks might work. Probably best for you guys to pick a date that suits and then we'll see if we can get a team for it. I'm a bitty fed up trying to get this return game arranged so I'll just leave the ball with you guys for the mean time and then we can just take the 3 points when you dont get a date to suit.

Whats the hurry? I thought the league ran till September or something? You guys chose to play all of your games quickly so it's not really our fault if we are unavailable/ playing other league games.

Talk of "taking" 3 points and making the 2-2 void is ridiculous and laughable quite frankly.

We're not "cancelling" anything on the 12th - there isn't a game arranged!

We're trying to be as flexible as we can (given we're pretty much a Sunday team, and in fact every single other game we play in the league will be on a Sunday) so the talk of taking 3 points is just silly, and quite frankly disappointing. Given this is supposed to be fairly friendly league and doesn't really have any organisation as yet, threats like that are just nonsense.

Oh and let's be quite clear about this - if the 2-2 game was to be declared "void", it's us who'd be taking the 3 points given we didn't get paid for it.

Only in a rush because there's only a few free Saturday's left for you to be able to play the game on before the new league season.

The taking the points was a little tongue-in-cheek but it would be disappointing to just not play the game at all because you can't get a team together for whatever dates or show a little apathy towards arranging a Saturday game.

As for making the 2-2 game void? Is that in relation to my comment over on our own forum? I put it out that if you couldn't make the 'gentlemans agreement' of you play @ home on the Sunday and we play @ home on the Saturday, that we just scrap the 2-2 game and then just play on a couple of Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays when we'd both be (in theory) at a disadvantage.

This is what we did Vs Hibs last year, played them on 2 Thursdays as they couldn't make a Saturday game. It wasn't a problem this time though as they managed to make a Saturday through in the Livi area and we played them in Edinburgh on a Sunday.

Even playing on a Sunday we are never at full strength - when we played the 2-2 game we were without several players. As far as I'm concerned all that matters is getting the game fulfilled when both sides have a viable team, ie they don't have to call in ringers etc to make up numbers. If we wanted to play a certain date that you told us you couldn't make (with enough notice, obviously) then we'd take you on your word and agree. I don't see the point in scrapping a game that's already been played and leave us with 2 games to fit in!

If there's a gentleman's agreement for us to play on a Saturday then quite frankly, it shouldn't have been made. We struggle as it is to get our team together for Sunday games, Saturday just isn't possible during the season, and even the summer Saturdays we haven't had the numbers. There is apathy among our players to play a Saturday, but that's not to say there's been no attempt - I've been asking guys about certain dates and getting nowhere. A summer league isn't really the best idea anyway, what with holidays, students working through the summer, etc.

Personally I don't think you can build in those kind of agreements to any kind of fair league. I appreciate that the agreement may have been made (although my understanding was that that was for last season) but all we're trying to do is get the game on at a date that suits both teams.
