Started a game as ICT and have already made some chances to the squad. On their way out look to be going Liam Keogh who is subject of a 200k bid from Sheffield Utd and perhaps David Proctor to Motherwell for 750k.

If these go through I have some players in mind who can come in and do a job including a decent looking left winger from Halmstad I think it is and a young Swedish goalie to back up Mark Brown. Brought in Steve Fletcher from Hibs on loan and Finboggason (I think) from Celtic on loan as well. One other signing was Gabor Vincze to add a bit of depth to the midfield arriving in a 1k deal from Livi.

Lost my first game 3 - 2 to Falkirk and drew the next one 1 - 1 with Livi after getting invovled in mind games with Lambert beforehand. After that I crushed Motherwell 2 - 4 at Fir park coming from 2 - 1 down with Brewster bagging a couple. Just played and drew 1 - 1 with Killie so an average start to the game so far.

If I'm being totally honest I am suprised I got my one for the research. I mean I did it and all that but it wasn;t as good as I had hoped it would be in that things got in the way of me working on it as much as I would have liked so I didn't get to go in depth as I would have liked.

Still, its a good game and haveing not really played many of the FM/CM games since 00/01 I'm pretty impressed by it and all the new stuff you can do. Mark Brown commented that it was my inspirational half time team talk that helped us beat Motherwell! laugh.gif

In the demo, I told them I wanted a performance like that every week after the game and half the squad complained I didnt give them enough credit dry.gif rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

Its a cracking game but the transfer markets a bit sus, i noticed someone saying on the other thread they got Templeman for 5k, why would morton sell a striker that gd that they just payed 100k for for that little?

I concur.

In the demo there also seems to be a lot of top 1st Div players going on loan to SPL clubs blink.gif When does that EVER happen??
RiG
Hibs lose half their team at the start. Shileds, Brown, O'Connor, Whittaker all head off to other clubs. Feel a bit sorry for Mowbary.
gretna_ed
PC world had it on sale today. £25 if you order online then go and pick it up yourself.
Started a game as Gretna, what a horrible pre-season they have on it. Southampton, Reading, Bolton, Nottingham Forest, AC Milan and Bayern Munich.
I wanted at least 1 friendly I had a chance of a good win in although I held Bayern 2-2 at home and went 2 nil up against AC in the opening 3 minutes before losing 5-2
kullibino
I'm wavering over wheter to buy it or not, i got FM 2005 and it was pretty poor tbh.

I started a game as Clyde today on the actual game, and people like Peter McDonald and Ryan Stevenson were going off to Killie/Dunfermline on loan blink.gif

Only had time for a few friendlies, beating Mansfield and Bury and losing to MK Dons and Aberdeen, although that was with a reserve side out.

Seems not too bad, though as the last Manager game I've had is CM 4, the interface is causing a few problems. I keep trying to sign people and pressing the "continue" button dry.gif laugh.gif

I still do that occasionaly, and I've been playing FM2005 (and the FM2006 demo) daily over the past 2 months ph34r.gif

I have not got mine yet but am still playing the demo so I'll talk about that. As St Mirren I done very well in the League Cup but very badly in the League. Finished the demo 7th in the league but in the semis of the League Cup knocking out Rangers. Made a couple of good signings for free. Got :

Simon Donnelly (Dunfermline)
Andy Thomson (Falkirk)
Gary Wales (Hearts I think)
Darren Sheridan (St Johnstone)
Brown Ferguson (Hamilton)
all for free.

Sold:

Kirk Broadfoot (Kilmarnock) £500,000
Stewart Kean (Kilmarnock) £250,000
David Van Zanten (Gretna) £100,000
David McKenna (Gretna) £80,000
not bad

I just got a rather bizarre line of commentary in the gold demo laugh.gif

Motherwell just scored against me, and the commentary told me "Motherwell's fans are chanting Hamilton's name!" Yes, it was Jim Hamilton that got the goal, but it amused me somewhat tongue.gif

Now to find a player with the surname "Morton"........ laugh.gif

I believe it is save game compatible but check.

Anyway, for me I signed a yopung Italian boy called Arena who is supposedly going to be brilliant - according to my scouts. I kept Proctor at ICT despite Wells bid for him as he turned in some good performances for me and instead of selling Keogh I've loaned him out instead. Think it was to Perth Saints.

Some defeats to the OF by a single goal but still up in 5th spot at the minute thanks to good wins against Aberdeen afterwhich I insulted Jimmy Calderwood laugh.gif and a 2 - 0 win v Falkirk biggrin.gif

Played about 12 games and record reads along the lines of W 5 D 3 L 4. Solid enough start. Bayne is on good socring form and after positive comments int he press Fox went mental against Aberdeen and scored a super goal with the commentary saying 'He is really up for this game!' biggrin.gif

Current line up

Brown
Tokely Caff Munro Golly
Hart Fox Black Wilson
Bayne Brewster

I hope they fixed the score changing bug - I lost the Bells Cup on penalties to Clyde, critisised my players for it, then got to the news item and found I'd actually won 2-1 on penalties laugh.gif
RiG
I pointed that out to them as well and was assured that was fixed after the demo in time for the full release. Was it the Demo you had this happen Coddy?

Yeah, it was the gold demo. Funnily enough, I lost other penalty shoot-outs and was credited as having lost them, but that one occasion was quite funny. tongue.gif
RiG
That happened to me in the demo but not had it in the full game. Also you can actually score penalties in the full game as well which is nice.
Peterhead Dave
I'm liking it so far. Gone Celtic as I always do first time round when a new one comes out (tradition dating back to CM97/98).

My god, their squad is shite. I've had to sign a whole defence because there's no strength or depth, but the attack are quite good. Nakamura, Sutton and Zurawski are all on 10 goals or thereabouts. I think I'm still unbeaten in the league - I'm certainly top of the table. Not doing quite so well in Europe, but that's to be expected as it takes time to bring a team together to compete with Bayern, Udinese, and whatever other team is killing me in the CL groups laugh.gif
CK
Can you buy it in Tesco?
RiG
I would imagine so. I'd be very suprised if you couldn't.

Here Ya Go Shrimp biggrin.gif

I just started a new game, 10 leagues, be interesting to see how it runs, ill post back later.
djchapsticks
She is installing as I type this. I was wavering wether to buy it today or not, because I REALLY can't afford it.

However, tradition dictates that I buy any CM/FM game on release day (cept CM5, wouldn't touch it) so it got the better of me. She is installing now.

YAY!!! laugh.gif
RiG
Think I'll head off in a bit and give it another blast before headig out the night.
MarreZ
pc world have a weekend special on it, at £27.99 - still a bit pricey but if someone needs one today you can save a fiver off the rrp.
codfish
I decided to start from scratch today after installing the patch (I'll leave the half-season saves from the demo until later), and traditionally took charge of Saints. I've played 7 league games, winning 6 and losing away to Clyde, and have a 4 point lead at the top of the table. I got to the second round of both the League Cup and the Challenge Cup, with Morton hammering me at Cappielow, and Peterhead winning at Love Street in the respective cups.

Signed Kenny Deuchar in a part exchange deal with Gretna for Alan Reid. £18k also came my way smile.gif

Clyde are good in it, they just got a last minute winner against me to draw 1-1 - then beat me 2-1 in the cup sad.gif

Running really well with 10 different countries with full leagues, im 3rd after 5 games, won 3, drawn 1, lost 1, out both the cups sad.gif (morton beat me in the challenge cup).

Just had to change formation after losing 2 cup games and a league game, since Mark Reilly came back in, ive changed to a defensive boreathon, and we beat Stranraer 1-0. The fans were in uproar when i sold Broadfoot to Wolves for £250,000, (40% sell on fee and £500,000 after his first scotland cap) however it gave me £120k transfer funds, and ive added Brown Ferguson from Hamilton and Chris Innes from Gretna with half the money, I tried to sign Tom Brighton from Morton who tore me apart, but he wouldnt come after a fee was agreed sad.gif

I like the new layout instead of numbers you get the bars showing how good they are, it really makes it alot easier to see quickly how good players are.
djchapsticks
I've just started. Normally I play a 4-4-2 diamond. However, I have shadowed St. Mirren's real life formation. 3 Centre Halfs, 2 Win Backs, 2 Central Midfielders and a supporting midfielder and 2 up front.

Beat Rangers Reserves 2-1 in a Love Street Friendly, and I am now in the midst of selling Kirky to Wolves for £400k plus a 30% sell on clause.

I am going to strengthen considerably depending on how much money I get. I'm looking at maybe getting Willie McLaren and Kenny Deuchar for starters.
MarreZ
My forms turned since changing to this formation smile.gif

chris innes is an excellent signing, he's better than kirky smile.gif
Bryan
Started out in Portugal without a job, there were two jobs going I got the one at Tourizense in the 3 divison i was asked to keep them up, I signed Jorge Stiel as Goalkeeper/assistant and let two loan guys that I couldn't play go and 2 other really bad players. I had a striker on loan from Porto who score 33 times I teamed up with a winger who scored 15 times. I made a key signing of a winger in Jan that led to me winning the league and then the promtion play offs biggrin.gif . The next season I lost my start striker as porto sold him and I couldn't afford him.

The next season i was asked to keep them up so I signed another Porto striker on loan he scored 31 times along with that winger from last year and he score 17 times, that added to key signings in defence in midfield meant I won the 2nd div too biggrin.gif .

Just started new season, managed to keep my porto striker but 3 of my back 4 left due to selling clauses and 2 of my midfield along with 5 of my squad i didn't want so I have been rebuilding and signed Rui costa, the bad thing is you can only have 6 foriegn players I have been asked to keep us up, I want Europe laugh.gif .

I use 442 attacking.

Sutton can't hit a coo in the arse with a banjo for me.

Marrez, I have use that tactic since CM00/01. but thought I'd give a 3-5-2 a shot, I'm now sorely tempted to go back to what I know.

strange because ive always used 3-5-2 before now smile.gif

Suttons gone a bit cold now, he's not scored in 4 games, i went 10 games in a row without losing, and the top of the league was very tight (4 points between top 5 teams) but ive lost last 2 to hamilton and st johnstone, so ive slipped back a bit.

ive got 60k to strengthen in the transfer window, so any pointers on who to sign with that would be appreciated smile.gif

Resigned as AFC manager.

9th in Division 3.

Total w**k!

Shall get a new game started tomorrow though! biggrin.gif
djchapsticks
I'm sitting in 4th after 4 games. Kean firing on all cylinders 6 starts/10 goals in all comps. 4starts/7goals in the league.

The rest of my strikers are firing blanks though.

I got £550k plus 40% sell on from Aberdeen for Kirky and got £385k from the board to spend, and I kinda went a bit mad. blink.gif

Chris Innes - Gretna P/Exchange for Craig Molloy
Brown Ferguson - Hamilton - £8k
Robbie Stockdale - Hull - £2k
Kenny Deuchar - Gretna - P/Exchange for David Martin
Stephen Adam - Livingston - £40k
Ramon Pereira - Livingston - £140k ohmy.gif
Bartosz Tarachulski - Dunfermile - £80k ohmy.gif
Peter MacDonald - St. Johnstone - £30k

So 4 new strikers. A bit OTT but I've also got a Ukranian lad in my reserves who's rotten, but a good coach, Brian McGinty has been well dropped and Mehmet is currently injured.
BerwickMad
I got an ultimatum from the Berwick board one week, I won a game, and then they offered me a new contract laugh.gif Currently lying in a disapointing 7th in Division 3 after a 1-0 defeat at home to Albion mad.gif Every club in Division appart from me now has more Irish players than Scottish players. They have just signed shit loads since the start of the season. Might leave out the Irish league next time. Also, im finding it impossible to sign any players. Cussick from Cowden is my only signing and nobody will loan me any players sad.gif

This game is so realistic! Tiago has been sent off twice and given away 4 penalties out of 6 games! After 6 games I have won 2, drew 1 and lost 3, brought in Ritchie Hart, Paul Lawson, Collin Samuel and Steve McManaman (4 midfielders - oops). Last game I got beat 3-0 by the Fifers at home though so was raging at that one.
