Finally remembered to take my copy of FM 2006 back to Aberdeen so I can actually contribute to this thread! Well, let everyone know who shite I am at this game.

Decided on making a new Super League tonight on the Editor. I had one on FM2005, but I hadn't really thought it out too well and so I deleted it. Hopefully this weill be better.

I've replaced the English Leagues with it, but couldn't be bothered tinkering about with European football, as it will become nothing but a distraction now.

To create a bit of fairness and a LOT of transfer activity, I have given each club in the leagues a revised equal transfer balance and repuation depending on the league, and cleared all debts within each club. I have also turned off the EU rulings for the sake of non-EU sides plaing in the English league. The bank balances are as follows:

Premiership clubs have a bank balance of £300m, every Championship Club: £250m, League One: £250m, League Two: £200m, Conference National: £150m, Conference North and South: £150m

They are pretty European Heavy until you move futher down the leauges, I have also given Scotland and England more than their fair balance of clubs and have also put St. Mirren and Morton in the Conference North for my own pleasure! wink.gif

Hmmm, I can't seem to load the game up anymore. Keep getting something about Access out of array bounds or something.

Bit annoying especially after starting a network game with Dave and also getting my own one with Tottenham underway.

RiG, find your saved games folder, copy the files (and any tactics you've created etc) to another location then uninstall the game and try again wink.gif

Means you can still play the saved games biggrin.gif

Also delete the registry entry for the game before you reinstall, or the error stays. wink.gif

The problem appeared to be me deleting some rather important files that I thought I could get rid of. I installed FM on drive D: but some other stuff appeared in My Documents (drive C:) which I assumed was old Demo stuff so I got rid of it. That was the problem.

Having a break from my Porto game to try another single nationality challenge, albeit this time it's forced upon me. I've taken charge at Athletic Bilbao, where I can only sign Basque players and staff. Started with a transfer budget of £1 million, but due to the lack of affordable quality available, I didn't sign anyone.

I started the season well, by beating Smederevo of Serbia and Montenegro, Borussia Dortmund of Germany, St Etienne of France and Deportivo La Coruna in an all-Spanish tie on the way to winning the Intertoto Cup. Continuing on the European side of things, I made the group stages after disposing of BATE in the first round, and have already beaten Dnipro and Grasshoppers - I still have Galatasaray and Panathinaikos to face in the group.

On the domestic front, I've played 9 league games, winning 6, drawing 2 and losing 1, which has put me top of the Primera Liga, and I've drawn Real Madrid at home in teh Copa del Rey. smile.gif

I began a new game with my beloved Arsenal. I still have myself playing (as expressed in an earlier post) but I'm doing far better. In came Vincent Kompany, Yeste, Messi (!!!) and Tuncay, out went Cygan and Pires.

I lost the Charity Shield, but went on to top the Premiership (I'm in January just now) and since P+B is a bit waash tonight, I'm going to resume my hostilities with Eck Ferguson, especially after I horsed him 6-2 biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
Peterhead Dave
Continuing my Man City game, sitting top of the Premiership in the January transfer window, out of nowhere Ruud Gullit was sacked by Celtic, and despite a host of high profile managers being linked with the post, they head-hunted me.

So I had a quick glance at their team (shite) and their league position (2nd behind Hearts) before deciding there was a job to be done. Fortunately, there were a some funds available, so in came Hakon Opdal and Stephen Kelly from Spurs, Marco Navas on a free transfer, Zat Knight from Fulham, Clint Dempsey from Club Brugge, Jay-Jay Okocha (just cause!), and the jewel in the crown Peter Crouch.

A stunning second half of the season ensued. The club were already out of the Scottish Cup, but won the League Cup against Dundee United, and despite a rather poor Old Firm debut (erm, 5-0 defeat ph34r.gif ), I won the league with three games remaining, ironically at home to Rangers!

Things are going well for me at Bilbao smile.gif

I'm into February now, and have been hit with an injury crisis that's seen me lose 6 of my first team squad all at once. However in the two games they missed, I've won 7-0 at home to Getafe and 4-0 away at Malaga. I'm now 2 points clear of Villarreal and Real Madrid at the top of the table after 22 games, and although I'm out of the Copa del Rey, I'm still in the UEFA Cup, and will face Bolton in the first knockout round. smile.gif

On the signings front, I was handed an extra £7 million over the transfer window because of the increased revenue I'd brought in through the gate, and spent it on Asier del Horno from Chelsea and Gari Uranga from Real Sociadad. smile.gif

The season is drawing to a close and things are now looking a bit of a disaster.

My inabilty o beat Chelsea has seen me submit my lead at the top of the table and fall to second, 6 points behind Chelsea, but with a game in hand.

Even worse though, a real sickener was my exit from the Champion's League. I had Milan in the quarter finals and beat them 3-1 in at home in the first leg. In the second leg, things were looking tasty, I was winning 1-2 at half time, but they staged a come back and I shipped 4 goals in the second half, two of them in injury time.

My CM00/01 game spanned an incredible 23 seasons as St. Mirren and Scotland.

In the end up I had won 7-in-a-row (a real challenge as it took me 14 seasons to finally win the SPL), about 8 Scottish Cups, 6 league cups and got to the 2010 Champions league final only to lose 1-0 to Lazio.

God, there were some good times in that game. Probl;em was, the old CM game engine had a shitey bug where after about 20 seasons the goals would dry up for every club BIG TIME, and the majority of games were either 0-0, 1-1 or 1-0 either way. It was really annoying knowing that if you conceeded in the first 10 minutes you were destined to lose, so I got fed up and quit. sad.gif

I had a game with Real Madrid in Championship Manager 2000-2001 that spanned until the year 2034. All the players had retired and had become regenerated with different names. I had a 40-odd year old Raul as an assisstant manager.

I had won every cup available, except the UEFA Cup, and, incredibly, I had over £1 billion to spend on transfers, and that's without cheating! Amazing.

I had to stop the game when we replaced our PC. I was gutted.

And so we begin the 2006-2007 season with lower expectations than the last, from expecting to winning the league to challenging for the league. Things have started off well, I beat Chelsea 2-0 in the first game of the season, goals from Fabregas and Messi at the very begining and very end of the game sorting that out. I then lost two consecutive games against Blackburn and Aston Villa, but crunched Liverpool 3-1, goals from Craig G Telfer (2) and Henry.

I sold Lauren because his indisciplne was a joke (4 red cards last season) and bought in Jonaton Zebina from Juventus, the only player I could afford to sign (although more funds have been made available and a bid for Lyon's Karim Benzema has been made). Incredibly, Vincent Kompany recived three red cards in the space of 7 games ohmy.gif

The team lines up thus:

--------------Henry-----------------Telfer----------------

---Tuncay-------------Messi--------------------Hleb-----

------------------Junihno Perumbucano-----------------

------------------------------------------------------------

--Cole-----Campbell--------Kompany-------Zebina----

---------------------Craig Gordon------------------------

With Lehmann, Eboue, Gonzalo, Toure, Cliche, Fabregas, Yeste, Reyes, Ljungberg and van Persie on the bench.
