Still in charge of Gretna -

Top of the SPL
In the round after the group satges in the UEFA cup v Espanyol. (nil nil first leg)

In the League Cup final v Motherwell who I will face in the Scottish Cup quarter finals.

Top scorer is Eddie Gaven
'Steve
I've just finished my 5th season in charge of Morton, finished 2nd in the SPL just behind Celtic and I won the league cup against Rangers. I also won the intertoto cup and was knocked out of the UEFA Cup in the second knockout stage. I was up against Partizan, Newcastle, Hertha BSC and Sparta Prague in the group stage and won that convincingly. I then played Newcastle in the 1st knockout round and it couldn't have started off any worse, my best centre back conceded a penalty in 5th minute and got a red card in the process. It was 3-2 Newcastle going into the last minute but they had to go and get a 4th in stoppage time, and with them being away from home I looked dead and buried, however in the other leg I beat them 3-0 to go through. I then met Club Brugge in the next round, where I was edged out over 2 legs.

Eddie Gaven is a legend on football manager. With him being top scorer with you I presume you have been playing him upfront? When I signed him he could only play on the right but he can now play upfront. He has been consistantly excellent for me since signing, he has made about 80 appearances for me over 2 seasons and he has agreed to sign a new 3 year contract. biggrin.gif He also has over 50 caps for the USA, and he is only 23!

My strongest squad is as follows:

GK: Craig Gordon
DL: Eduardo (Labelled the next Roberto Carlos)
DC: Thomas Gaardsoe
DC: Geovanny Caicedo
DR: Gary Caldwell
DMC: Fabio Rochemback
ML: Ricky Van Der Bergh
MR: Eddie Gaven
AMC: Johan Elmander
FC: Fernandinho
FC: Lee Miller/ Dmitri Sytchev

Derek Riordan bagged over 50 goals for me last season but he has agreed to go to Tottenham in the summer. sad.gif

Yeah I play him up front - he has played 30 games (including sub) abd has scored 25 goals! He has been injured for a month or two but Ross McCormack is banging in the goals now. He scored a hat-trick agaist Partizan Belgrade!
'Steve
Derek Riordan went nuts for me last season, he scored something rediculous like 47 goals in about 55 appearances. While Fernandinho got about 40 in 45 appearances. My fixture list was so cluttered it was unbelievable, has anyone actually played two competitive matches in 2 days? On the Sunday I played Celtic in the League Cup final and on the Monday I played Partick in a crucial SPL clash. ohmy.gif

I will try and get some screenshots up later.

In the first division with Stenny but really struggling.

Relegation or the sack await sad.gif

Unbelievably, i'm in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup, in my first season.

Quater final against Kilmarnock, I had 8 first team injuries, and a suspension. I had to call up players from my Reserves, and 2 Under 19s just to make 16. Somehow managed to fight my way to 2-1 up, then Paul Di Giacomo scored an equaliser in the 95th minute!

So I went to a replay at Rugby Park, with 3 players back, but all still under 90% fitness. Had to take them all off at Half-Time, then I went 1-0 down and had a man sent off. 1-0 down, 10 men, 20 minutes to go. Then, suddenly, i scored from a free kick, and then, with 5 minutes to go Killie had a man sent-off - and in the 90th minute I had a cross deflected into the goal, by Paul Di Giacomo! thumbup2.gif

Scumfermline in the semi's.

UEFA cup quarter finals with Gretna! If I win I play Rangers or Juventus in the next round!

Started a new game as Man City for a laugh... Doing quite well, with Antoine Sibierski scoring a hell of a lot of goals. My Dutch winger/striker Romano Denneboom has also chipped in with a few, but is out on the wing at the moment after an injury to Kiki Musampa sad.gif

Sitting 7th after 10 games, a decent start ot the season!

Thats 15-3 on aggregate incase you can't read. wink.gif

I think, without cheating, that I have created one of the best squads ever in Football Manager with my Barcelona team.

I am halfway through my second season, and last night, in the Januray 2007 transfer window, I brought in Vincent Kompany from Bayern Munich (he starts off at Anderlecht) for £8 million, rising to £22 million after 24 months. I also signed Pippo Inzaghi for £160k on a 6 month deal from AC Milan, just to bolster the attack after Ryan Babel broke his leg (again).

I have sent out Aruna Kone, Emmanuel Sarki, Freddy Adu and Eddie Johnson on loan to various La Liga clubs for the rest of the season. I lie on the top of the table ten points clear of Athletico Madrid, having lost just one league game so far.

Samuel Eto'o has scored 34 goals in 26 starts ohmy.gif

My squad is thus:

Petr Cech
Victor Valdes

Giovanni van Bronckhorst
Patrice Evra
Gabri
Belletti
Carles Puyol
Nigel de Jong
Rafael Marquez
Vincent Kompany

Andreas Iniesta
John Obi Mikel (I removed his arranhed trasnfer to Man Utd)
Xavi
Ronaldinho
Sanli Tuncay
Leo Messi
Sidney Govou
Ludovic Giuly

Karim Benzema
Pippo Inzaghi
Jose Antonio Reyes
Ryan Babel
Samuel Eto'o

Now, beat that!

The current starting line-up is:

Reyes - Eto'o

Ronaldinho

Tuncay - Xavi - Govou

Evra - Marquez - Puyol - Belletti

Cech

AWOOGA!

I think my Morton could give them a decent game, and lets face it Barcelona start off with quite a few world class players and quite a bit of money to spend. The same can't be said for Morton but I've transformed them from 2nd division minnows to a side now challenging for the SPL crown and the Champions League.

Gary Caldwell -vs- Samuel Eto'o?

I'm in the year 2011, and Gary Caldwell is one of the best right backs in the world!

You have also picked the weakest link in my squad. The rest are all world class, and I just beat AC Milan twice in the Champions League, who had won the tropht three times in a row!

I also have tactics to suit every player, and I'd be confident of beating your team with what I imagine would be a pre-set tactic. wink.gif

You would imagine they are "pre-set"? Well, you would be wrong. Before every game I have a look at the scouting report and tweak everyone to suit the game. I'm like Wenger, a master tactician.

I'm only in the year 2007, imagine how good all my youngsters will be in 2011!

Keep it up master tactician! wink.gif

How are you doing in Europe? I got to the quarter finals of the champions league against AC Milan and I beat them 1-0 at home in the first leg, then proceeded to take the lead in the 2nd leg away from home. But with 10 minutes to go they pulled a goal back and then in the 89th minute they got another! I was still in the position to go through on away goals but Shevchenko netted another in the 94th minute to send them through!

I genuinely felt sick after that, first time I have ever felt like that when playing football manager, I ws gutted.

Now now ladies calm down
qos_75
Having taken over at Morton half way through the second season, after finishing the previous season 4th with East Stirling in the 3rd, I took the 'ton' to the first, via the play-offs, Scudding Raith 6-1 over the 2 legs and Gretna in the final 4-2.

Eleven games into the first division, I lost my first 5 league games ohmy.gif However, managed to put a wee run together, I drew 2 games on the trot, away to Airdrie and Clyde, then 2 marvellous away wins at Falkirk and St johnstone, and a win at home to Hamilton, have put me back in the mix. Semi final of the diddy cup, defeat away to Partick 2-1 and 3rd round defeat at home to Rangers 2-3. sad.gif

P.S Where can I find an update to include team badges for Scotland?
Twynholm
Fancied a challenge so i went Dundee! Played 9 so far in all competitve competitions and won 8 lost 1. Signed some great players at this level such as Danny Graham (on loan) from Boro, Robert Snodgrass- 110k off Livi and Simon Mensing for 20k off St Johnstone who is great on it and wins MOTM every game near enough.

On course for Bells Cup semis and am Playing Motherwell in CIS Cup 3rd round at home so good chance of progression. 2 points clear at the top of the league too smile.gif

Attachments include a Holland victory in an International, Must be a record wink.gif

Started a new game after installing the data update. Methinks a few of the club researchers have been ripping the arse out of it.

Which three Scottish players do you think have the highest finishing in the game? Boyd? O'Connor? Riordan? Nup, it's Charlie Adam (my fault, I went a bit over the top!), Kenny Deuchar and Ian Harty laugh.gif

Andy Thomson and Chris Templeman also seem a bit too good. Brechin are about third in my game at Christmas laugh.gif

Sitting 7th after 10 games, a decent start ot the season!

Finished ninth in my first season, which was a bit disappointing, but all I deserved after a poor end to the season. Second season is going great though, I've only had two defeats so far - the first in the Euro Vase semi-final first leg. Sadly I lost out in the final on away goals sad.gif

Then I had gone 12 league games without defeat, and stumbled on a run of games that saw me play Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea (Cup) and Chelsea (League). The scores in the first three were: 1-1, 0-0, 2-2 (Chelsea won on pens, but it counts as a draw in my eyes).

Then came the league game against Chelski at the CoM Stadium. I was doing OK until my centre-back, Andriy Rusol, got sent off for a professional foul despite Danny Mills being right beside him at the time. OK, thinks I, I'll go 4-4-1, bringing on my substitute defender.

Oh no, thinks the ref, as he sends off my right back, now playing in the middle, on the half hour, just three minutes later. A quick switch sees Garry O'Connor taking up a place in the centre of defence for the final hour of the game. All's going well, we hold out for 59 fucking minutes before Didier fucking Drogba opens the scoring. Four minutes into injury time, Hernan Crespo adds a second!

You know that fat German kid in the nightshift...? ph34r.gif

Still, two defeats from 24 games isn't all that bad.... smile.gif

Is there some kind of bug in this game? I drew 0-0 with Livingston in the SPL and then this happened...
Half of my squad was out injured for this match, and quite a few were ineligable! Lee Miller is my 5th choice striker!
'Steve
And has anyone seen anything like this before?

igor
I bought this game a wee while ago, i'm not keen on using "real players" though so I went for the fictional players mode and chose Notts Forest in league 1, the board were pushy as hell and demanded that we won the title, I did (just) and they still weren't too pleased so I jumped ship (after a tragic start to our championship season losing 3 games on the trot) to tiny Easbourne Boro in the conference south.

I saved them from relegation to oblivion, then the next season we made the play off's, the following season we won the league and for a couple of season's i've been mid table in the conference national. I've had some good cup runs and have over a million in the bank (they were in chronic debt when I took over) but I can't seem to take them any further, I apply for every job going and nobody wants me.

Last season a message kept coming up saying the Scottish FA want me as boss of the national team but the option to take the job never appeared, I think it might be bugged though as I also cannot free players without their permission, if I go to free transfer they are still in the squad when I return.
MTJ
I just sold Jamie Stevenson to Wigan for 470k, but I'm a bit worried as hes been carrying the team quite a bit, and we currently sit top of the League right now.

Won the SPL and Scottish Cup with Gretna after being knocked out of the UEFA cup quarter finals. Rangers won the UEFA cup but could only finish 5th in the SPL!!

I've got a lot on. 15 hours of video footage to edit to an hour, web-sites to get the hang-off. Advanced Photoshop techniques to learn, manual on digi-printing to write for work and many little things, while working 12 hours at work! So thanks to you guys recommending this and telling me how good this game is and how successful you've been I've been spending 5-7 hours playing as Elgin City!!!!!!!!! I'd buy you a pint, but I'm not leaving the house till I see ECFC win everything in 1 season!!!!!

Won the SPL, Scottish Cup (3-0 v Dundee) and Champions League (2-1 v Betis).

What I hate is when the media do a poll on whether a certain player should get regular starts or not and the supporters are always around 90% in favour, despute the fact that this particular player is quite frankly gash and is my 3rd choice right winger!

Just started a new game as Carlisle manager.

Won the 1st game 3-0!!

Just started the game with Queen's and struggled quite badly.

Challenge Cup 1st Rd lost 2-1 to Stenny then got pumped 3-0 by Cowdenbeath. Mark Ferry, Richie Bowers and new signing John Gemmell all suffered injuries in one week prior to a game with Morton in the CIS Cup 1st Rd, Andy McGinty was sent off after fitfteen minutes and went on to lose 8-0, former QP player Finlyason scoring six from midfield ( blink.gif) then drew 0-0 with East Fife.

Dunc
Whose stupid idea was it to introduce work permits mad.gif

I keep trying to bring in players from Africa, and also from T&T but they all keep getting blocked by the Government (or whoever handles these things).

I need a replacement goalie, and i've found some guy who's just left his club, but he's had his WP application turned down.

Has anyone ever won an appeal?

Anyone who is lacking firepower in their first season should try and get Kenny Cooper on loan from Man Utd. You might have to big-up Alex Ferguson first, but he scored 16 goals in 22 appearances for me, and a lot of those were off the bench, because he picked up an injury.
