I hate this game. Took on the Derby challenge, went down with a respectable 28 points or so, then started the Championship season on fire, 6 points clear at the top and I was sacked because "my poor relationship with the players was the reason for the teams poor performance." Shite.

I kept the derby team up on the last day by a point (i was on the same points tally as you), started the second season on fire, caprican marica and kenny miller scored 50 goals between them and i was relegated on the last day and sacked sad.gif
Virtual Insanity
I took over Derby again after being sacked, got them automatic promotion, was given the objective of staying in the Premiership and have just been sacked again after finishing 16th.

You might in 2099 but we'll never know laugh.gif 48 goals and 68 points is pretty low though, strange.

It's something I've noticed the longer the game goes on, so I don't know if it's deliberate. Lots of draws....lots of 0-0 draws to be exact. It's strange.

I pumped St Mirren 6-0 away from home in the Cup last night ohmy.gif

I'm only in my second season with the Rovers too!

SPL here I come though.

I've not been playing the new one at all. Still got a good game going on 07.

However, I feel I may as well start on 08 seeing as how I bought it. What's the newest update and is there any recommendations for things to download. Cheers biggrin.gif

Started a new game with Newcastle this afternoon. Played six games so far - lost four, drew 1 and won 1. I ended up with Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool within my first five games. Amazingly Chelsea were the team I beat, at Stamford Bridge! A draw away to Spurs, a narrow defeat away to Man City were my other games but I've got an easier run coming up so hopefully I can move up the league.

Im in a class game with Newcastle thnow, I wanted a challenge, wern't bothered wether I liked the club so chose them. laugh.gif

Ended up 9th on GD in my first season, was quite gutted, I got beat 6-1 off Utd in the 3rd last game of the season, if they never scored them 2 last minute goals, i'ld have been 8th. sad.gif

This year i'm 7th after 6 games, beat off Man City 2-1, then 5-1 off Chelsea, won the next 3 games 2-0, 2-0 and 2-1, then got beat 2-1 off Derby. (Derby are fucking mint within 1 season! laugh.gif )

Just gonna go on again now.

Just over midway through season and my performances could best be described as terrible sad.gif

I've managed to win 5, draw 5 and lost 10, including an 8-0 pumping away to Portsmouth, of all people ph34r.gif

Realised that I have £26m to spend. At the start of the season I had £6m, and the game didn't tell me that I had my budget go up mad.gif

Time to turn it around in the second half of the season.

Just started a new game with newcastle. smile.gif

That's not bad. I think I'll give them a whack.

I got fed up of my Barca game as it was too easy, so i'm looking for a bit more of a challenge, but not having to opperate on a ludicrous shoestring budget. Peterborough look perfect

Im with Newcastle and im 11th. Went on a terrible run then I eventually sorted my tactics and team out and ive started to pick up points. Can't do anything against the big 4 though. I just get shagged whenever I play them. I win easy at home against most teams though and beat the mackems 3-2 away which is good. van der Vaart is my best signing.

Is there any fucking way to keep your job in this game? Won the First Division with Thistle in my first season, finished 9th in my second and didn't get my contract renewed. Is this something that is fixed by patches?

I've been sacked twice in the history of me playing Championship Manager/Football Manager (since 99). Once because i let my finances get in a awful state chasing Europe in a game as Morton in 2002 (ultimately my statium expansion near bankrupt the club) and once a few months ago when 4 weeks into a game with Celtic there was a board takeover and the new owner sacked me immediately(before a game was played).

In short, get better results.

Only ever been sacked twice as well. Once with Bradford, despite taking them back to the Premiership and making them a stable 'mid-table' side. Second was with Newcastle...only lasted 7 months, was sacked in early March due to pish results, totally justified mind.

So aye, get better results and you can't go far wrong.

Are you guys both playing FM08? I think results wise winning the 1st and finishing solidly above relegation in the SPL would have me carried through the streets of Maryhill in real life, don't know what more I should have done.

To be fair, my sackings were on CM 01/02, which I'm still playing to this day.

For a new challenge I've decided to go Barcelona and give them a billion trillion pounds to see if I can actually win every game by a hundred goals.

The strange thing is, I don't think I'll get bored.

Finished 3rd with Blackburn after winning the FA Cup and League Cup, so after 13 seasons with them, decided to resign and take up the challenge of getting Rangers back to the SPL. They're currently in the Third Division and have finished bottom in 5 of the last 6 seasons. They have no 'active' players so will be starting completely from scratch. Gonna be interesting, if nothing else.

Could only get 14 players on board by the start of the season...managed to get some folk on loan to make up the numbers. Knocked out SPL Clyde out of the League Cup, done f'ck all else in the other cups. Did get them promoted though, winning just 14 games and scoring 26 goals...God knows how I managed it. huh.gif

Yeah, IIRC...it was 14 wins, 15 draws, 7 defeats.

Doing well in the 2nd Division, just beat East Stirling 3-2 at Firs Park to overtake them and go top after 10 games.

Just finished my first season with Carlisle. Won in the play off final 3-2 against Doncaster infront of nearly 80,000! Was 2-1 down with 3 minutes to go however got a soft penalty and won in extra time.

Finished 4th in the league after being 1st/2nd swapping with Forrest for about 40 games, Forrest finished 3rd and lost to Doncaster on pens in the semi's. I dished out the pump 6-2 on agg over Yeovil in the other semi! Southend and Swansea gained automatic promotion after some great late season form to pip myself and Carlisle at the death. I picked up 13 points from my last 10 games which saw me slip into 4th place!

My side:

Luke Steele (on loan from WBA)

David Raven
Jamie Clapham (30k from Wolves (i think)
Dave Livesy
Paul Reid (130k from Barnsley)

Kevin Gall
Peter Murphy
Jody Morris (free transfer)
Paul Thirwell

Danny Graham - goal machine
Fraizer Campbelll (on loan from Man United) - ultimate goal machine - 40 + goals

Subs:

Simon Hackney
Keiran Westwood (GK)
Stephen Dobbie (70k from QoS) - scored some vital goals
Zigor Arnalade
John Rankin (35k from ICT)

Now onto the championship where the board have gave me exactly 0k to buy new players! Long tough season ahead. Signed Leon Knight from MK Dons and Stephen Wright from Sunderland both on free's. Need a keeper and another striker tho!

I started out a Rochdale season. Odd i know, but it was a near miracle.

I took them over half way through the season (Start in March, with the Sweden league) and took over a rock bottom Rochdale side, on 24 points....the next team was Macclesfield with 37, and there was 27 points left to play for.

Thought that was a great challenge, so i took it up. Couldn't sign anyone, apart from on a free, or indeed a loan. I managed to bring in a few players, mainly on loan, to help stear the club off the foot of the table.

I won the maority of my games, and it came down to the last game of the season against Notts County at home, who had just secured promotion, and i needed a point and the team above me to lose. Sadly, i got beat 1-0 at home, and the team above me got beat, so i missed out by 2 points in the end, and relegated...but not sacked yet.

I'll post the players who i got on loan, and my results when i'm home from work!
