My FM08 has died.

After I uploaded the patch 8:02 most of the badges went missing and when I tried to play the next game, a message saying a serious problem had occured and closed down FM08. I have since uninstalled all FM08 files and tried a complete reinstall. Once it reinstalls where I should get the splash screen with 'Sega', before it goes into the game it just sticks on this white screen. The disc is clean and has no scrtaches so it is not that either. I am very pissed off.

Uninstall then game, but this time delete the registry entry for FM08, and reinstall. If you dont, it'll keep the registry with the corrupt key.

I did uninstall manually all the rest of FM08 files that are not uninstalled with the FM installer. You know the ones that are are listed in C:/mydocs/SI/FM08/Data. Are these the one you mean or are there others in a different location?

No, looks like hes talking about the entry in the windows registry. A google search might turn up some instructions, although it would have been helpful if SL had been a little more specific

DO NOT mess about in the registry unless you either

a) know what you're doing, or
b ) have clear instructions on what to do

I would go and search the SI forums, as its likely someone there has posted proper instructions.

If it's well and truly fucked (and I couldn't tell you if it is) then, if you can afford/be arsed buying another one, pre-owned FM08's are going for about £10-15 at the moment. I got one in perfect working order a fortnight ago for a tenner after I lost the original.

It will either be an issue with the install, which the link I gave will fix. Or it will be something wrong with the cd (unlikely if theres no scratches etc) which buying a new one will fix. Either way, it will be fixeable <sup>*

How do work Permits work on Fm 07?

Got 3 players, signed, and in my squad. However they cant play and dont have a work permit. How long is it until they can get one?

Either 5 years or until they get enough International caps to get a permit.

If you can loan them to a Belgian club it'll take three years, otherwise they ain't gonna get one.

Aye, the origional release contained so many bugs I just left it and continued 2007. 08 is virtually unplayable.

if your last save point is after the no fixtures scandal then you will have to start a new game i'm afraid. it's pretty easy to get out the third with most teams anyway. all you have to do is form a link with a parent club and they let you take any four of their reserves on loan. in my two dumbarton games i've had rangers and celtic and got the likes of dean furman, john fleck, steven lennon, jim o'brien on loan.

I'm still getting the crap shirt image behind the nice shiny new one after downloding templates to my download file. Any ideas?

I just got round to trying it now, sadly I still get the white screen of death, even after removing the registry details.

It must be the disc then, which is strange, as I am always careful in putting it back into its case after use and it was fine up until I downloaded the 8:02 patch.

I will see if I can get another copy second hand or for a tenner.

Before you do that, download a no-cd crack and see if it works with that. If it does, then you'll know for sure that you need a new disc.

Anyone struggling after downloading the latest patch, go to Tactics and Training forum on the Football Manager website, some good tactics on there. Beats the hell out of losing all the time.
